Holy crap. I don't remember making this thread. Then again, I've killed a lot of brain cells the past six years....

Kind of. She's more of an acquaintence. I actually met her from this LJ writing competition that she was really good at. She friended me because she throught I was from Arkansas XD. So I guess I did meet her by chance. I'm actually always interested in what she writes about : ).

She had some really good entries in that contest.

UNT is currently undefeated this season

I was very glad to see that they beat Ball State, and here's hoping they keep winning. I know they won't stay undefeated, but I'd like to see the Mean Green do well. I grew up and lived most of my life in the D/FW area, went to high school only about half an hour from UNT and literally down the road from Southlake Carroll, where Todd Dodge coached before going to North Texas a couple of years ago. I'd really like to see Dodge succeed there, and if he's going to get much longer to try, he's probably gonna have to start winning this year.

What a game.  It was great to be back, even greater to leave  8).

Saw my whole family for the first time in a long while.  It was much smoother than expected, in fact downright pleasant!     It was actually great, it had been too long.  Saw who I wanted to see and caught up with wonderful and loyal friends.  The football game itself was absolutely insane (I'm still hoarse) but of course the outcome caused my heart to sink into my feet.  On a side note, caught a FSU v. UM catfight (oh college) and then saw Billy Gunn.  Me and my brother started yelling" MY gawd King that Billy Gunn's music!!!" in our JR voices, causing him to run away.

You were at that game? I'm jealous! I was working Monday night, but we still had that game on at my workplace. Several of us were glued to the TV toward the end. What a hell of a fourth quarter. Lots and lots of fun. I'm hoping FSU and Miami start not sucking again, especially if games like that come out of it.

Me, I'm a TCU alumnus and fan. Probably only going to be able to get to three games this year (unless we can finally manage to get the monkey off our backs, go unbeaten and get to a Bc$ game; then I'll be there for sure), but I watch all I can. We haven't played yet, but we get Virginia this week. Too bad they had to lose to William & Mary, really takes the punch out of that matchup. Oh well, I still say....GO FROGS!

Nice interview, Zeality.

I've been accused of only coming on here anymore to pimp stuff that OneUp Studios does, so that's why I haven't come here to say this before, but now that there's this big interview and all, I feel I can safely say...Everyone, get this while it lasts. The album is fantastic. FaustWolf is correct: When the album hits iTunes, Amazon, et al, five tracks will be removed. Actually, probably six tracks, because I don't think the bonus track will be included either. And no matter which 10 tracks remain, you'll be missing out on at least a couple of great tunes. Mustin has said that fewer than 500 copies of the physical album, and therefore of the complete collection of songs, are left. I highly recommend any Chrono Trigger music fans to pick this up.

It's funny. A friend of mine on LJ is married to someone who used to play for the One Ups. She's friends with Mustin and always talks about him on LJ. It's a small world.

That is funny. I'm also LJ (and IRL) friends with Kassi (though I've been inactive on LJ for months now, only rarely updating or glancing at my f-list). But I got to know her through our mutual involvement at OUS, and it sounds like you just found her more or less by chance.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Best Party?
« on: December 18, 2008, 12:26:10 am »
If Crono can use two Lightning-based spells and an ultimate spell that's much more in line with simply being light-based (Luminaire, obviously) as a Light-elemental character, why couldn't Marle use Ice, Ice II and Hexagon Mist? Though if we're making a new Ice-based ultimate magic, I always liked the name Deep Freeze, myself.

And y'all can bash Marle all you want (and ok, I'll admit, Cure II is pretty useless), but I love Iceberg Toss (that is Cube Toss's new name, right?), Ice Sword 2 and especially Final Kick. Always have. That (combined with Crono and Ayla's nice double techs) are why my favorite party is still Crono, Marle and Ayla.

Of course, I also love Crono-Frog-Ayla, Crono-Frog-Lucca, Crono-Marle-Lucca, Crono-Frog-Robo, Magus-Marle-Lucca, Frog-Ayla-Robo and Magus-Lucca-Robo, to name a few. So many good combinations, each with strengths and weaknesses.

And I think I've beaten Lavos with every combination except for most of the ones that don't have triple techs.

It's all about Chrono, Marle and Ayla. Love lots of other parties, but that's the one I use the most for kicking ass.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Chrono Trigger DS - Reactions (Spoilers)

Not reading the thread, as I'm not yet halfway through the game (just beat Slash and Flea the other night, and haven't played since because I'm splitting my free time with Zelda: Twilight Princess and other, non-gaming stuff), but I just wanted to say: Damn, I forgot how good this game is. I can't wait to get all the way through and try out the new stuff. You can bet I'll be back here whenever I do get to that point. I've got a plane ride and a trip home for a few days coming up in two weeks, and I may stretch out my completion to give myself some time with the game on that trip.

But really, I've fallen in love with the game all over again. So good.

General Discussion / Re: 2008-2009 Football Season
« on: September 05, 2008, 04:20:14 am »
NFL? Bah. The No Fun League is just that: No fun. Sure, there are some good games, and some great plays. But it just lacks the excitement and the atmosphere that I love so much about college football.

My college is TCU. Graduated from there in '06. But I follow all of Division I-A college football to some extent. I'm a big fan of the SEC (but not of Arkansas; the fan base in this state is totally nuts, and I have no interest in being part of that), Oklahoma, Missouri and a few other select schools here and there, but mostly I try to watch the greater college football season pretty objectively.

I'm just happy football season is here. It makes me warm and fuzzy inside.

Look, I'm not trying to "whore" for anyone. I just thought that, since this whole site sprang out of a VGM site (OCR), at least a few people might be interested in this. Nobody at OUS asked me to do this, I just thought that, after several listens of what I think is some of the best work to come out of the VGM-remixing scene, I might share it with some people who might appreciate it. Sorry if I was wrong in doing that.

Also, if you've never checked them out before, Vol. 1 is still available and has more great tracks, including what I consider to be the all-time best rendition of Schala's Theme.

Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Just saw this on OneUp Studios. And damn, am I glad there was nobody to hear the squeal/cackle sound that I made except for my cat, Koji. And he looked at me pretty funny.

This is tight. First I've heard of this; anyone know whether it's mostly a straight port or a full remake?

I believe it was Winston Churchill who once said, "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others."

Happy to help! I just figured people around here might not have discovered either the RD project or the new VGMix yet, since both came out in the past week.

I just really, really hope they get the browse-by-game thing worked out at VGMix, or else, as ZeaLitY said, it won't last.

14
Personally, I was largely disappointed by Chrono Symphonic. It's fine to listen to all at once, but I don't think there's a single track from it that I like enough on its own to put it in some other playlist or anything like that.

The new VGMix site is pretty rough; it's my understanding that they're still working out the kinks. I don't think it's been open a week yet, so you're not really that behind, FaustWolf.

But there's some good music there......if you don't mind downloading everything to find tracks from games you know.

It does suck that the VGMix 2 stuff isn't getting rolled over. But I still have most of what I wanted to have from there anyway.

15
You're right on one thing: That OWA was pure crap. Easily the worst track on the project, and the only one I actually refuse to listen to. I hate it. But I think most of the project is decent at worst, and a few tracks are among my favorite FFVII remixes/arrangements.

And as long as djpretzel staffs the site with like-minded individuals with no VGMix 3 to allow free submission, fans are going to suffer from his tasteless preferences.

Psssstt....... http://www.vgmix.com
