Chrono Compendium - What a filthy hovel.

There must be someway you defeat him without using ayla because i defeated him with Crono Glenn and Magus... somehow.

No you didn't.  I believe you're telling the truth, but you're either mistaking it for something else or just have a false memory.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: The road to Level **
« on: May 07, 2006, 07:33:03 pm »
I've actualyl attained ** with all but 2 characters on the PSX remake version.  I actually started doing Pink Nu runs... which is i run through the game, face Pink Nu, get the tabs, then start another New Game +, rinse, lather, repeat.  Why?  My goal was to get ALL of my character's magic, strength, and speed to ** as well.  I actually got pretty far, but haven't touched that particular save file in about 2-3 years.  Someday I'll finish it.  If I'm not mistaking, everyone's str and speed is maxed out, but the magic is going to take a long while.

Oh, as for the conveyor belt runs, I usually just put a berserker on whatever party members happen to be active, run in there, leave, come back 5 minutes later, then go back to the beginning.  Works damn well.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: Lawless?
« on: May 05, 2006, 03:35:11 am »
The law system was probably implemented after Frog saved the Queen from Yakra in the original, uniterrupted timeline (what is that called? Keystone-1?).

Keep in mind, while Crono & Co. do change a lot of events, they also jsut act as "witnesses" in a lot of events that would ahve hapenned regardless anyway.  One example being the fight with Azala/Black Tyranno.  Obviously, Ayla was able to defeat them in the original, uniterrupted timeline without Crono & Co's help.

My point is, I believe that the King, after Frog saved the Queen by himself sand Crono & Co, made the same decision at the same time, that decision being to "make a justice system blah blah".

General Discussion / Re: Nintendo Wii
« on: May 05, 2006, 03:27:53 am »
I don't think it's as bad as anyone think it sounds.  I think they're jsut shocked that it's something so "different".

Let's face it people, all console names up to this point have been unoriginal and boring.  Xbox.  Wow, take it TO THE XTREME.  Now throw on a 360.  Exciting.  Playstation 1,2,3.  'Nuff said.  Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, bleh.  Gamecube made an ATTEMPT, and it did slightly better, but still not quite there.

Now I'm going to backup why I think Wii will still sell extremely well, despite the weird name, which is, people DONT CARE what it's named.  People will fall into one of two groups here, people that understand WHY it's named "Wii" (as in we, community, blah blah) and people who don't understand why it's named "Wii".  Now, look at the Nintendo DS.  Same idea.  People that knows what it means (Dual Screen AND Developers System, some people still don't know this), and people that have no clue what it means.  Guess what?  The system has been selling millions to both groups of people, regardless of how much they know about the system.  Wii falls into the same category.

Kajar Laboratories / Chrono Compendium Fan Project Index / Rating

On second thought, this is going to be pretty tough to actively maintain unless we just do everything arbitrary instead of directly contacting fan project leaders.

Just give that job to me.  It's a simple interview process.

1) How long have you been thinking about this project?
2) How long have you been activly writing down and physically preparing things for it?
3) Do you personally have the skills necessary to at least contribute to a majority of the project, rather than asking a ton of other people to do it for you?
4) (if a fan game) is the story actually complete?  Or do you just have the main character's name, and a quick paragraph where he wakes up and falls into a portal?

It's simple, really.  Answering those 4 questions can easily determine if the project is even worth mentioning.

I mainly hate people saying ther'yre going to do this stuff because it jsut takes up more room on the main forum page, and clutters everything up.  Seriously, can we get rid of the Project Zeal forum yet?

Exactly. Magus made him the most retched common creature. I don't question Magus's choice of form for Frog, rather I would like to discuss why Frog turned human in the end scene. Perhaps Magus lifted the spell from him?

This is a very common question, and it angers me.  Well, not the question, the answer that's most common.  Typically, people assume that Magus MUST have been killed, since Glenn is now in human form.  People just fail to believe that there's another way for Frog to lift the curse, whether it be Magus lifting it himself, or Glenn finding a way to do it through his inner strength.

Once again, I've said it a million times, and I'll say it again:  You can't just start making a Chrono fan-game without having the story first, or a basic idea of what you're doing.

You can't apply the rules of "AIMing" to message boards.  The point of "instant messaging" is for quick chatting purposes, where a majority of the talking takes place in a single sentence at most, and sentence fragments in a large part of it.  Making everything grammatically correct and punctually accurate is pointless, and takes away from the experience.  However, on message boards, the point is to make a large, coherent though.  People aren't able to read something that isn't structurally organized.

Of course it's special. It happens to swirl around someone who, for all intents and purposes, is dead in that dimension.

Or at least, soon to be.  Remember that Janus "felt" the black wind around Crono before his death.

Polling / 3/31/06 - Would you buy a console for a new Chrono game?
« on: March 30, 2006, 02:05:17 pm »
I bought a PS(1) solely for Chrono Cross.  The system cost $100 at the time of purchase.  I did have the ability to buy a lot of other RPG's I'd been missing out on for the past couple years after that too, though.  I'd probably consider buying a PS3 with a pricetag of $300 solely for a new Chrono game, but that's my absolute limit. And I think we all know PS3 is going to be a hell of a lot more than that.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Harle
« on: March 30, 2006, 02:02:37 pm »
I actually went through the semi-long process of writing a bunch of games over each other to allow be to put Harle back into the party after she had left.  It makes for a very interesting battle with the Dragon God.  (Also, a side note, she doesn't say anything if you bring her up tot he Frozen Flame, for somewhat obvious reasons.)

She really is my favorite character both battle-wise and plot-wise.  I tend to enjoy people that throw things more than swinging them (I'll pick Van and Doc over Leah and Marcy any day), and throwing small things, such as her little "jingly bells" just adds to my adoration for her.  Her speciality techs are well-rounded as well.  Moonshine is a lifesaver in some big boss battles, and Lunaretic?  Apart from the damage it does, just looks amazing visually.  And she flips and what not.  I like flips.
