In 2300ad, Lavos' life-cycle is in its reproduction phase, drawing on the genetic material and magic of the earth to create stronger, fitter Lavos spawns. Once these spawns mature, I think they would consume the flesh & energy of Lavos, killing him in the process, and then depart for other planets. Lavos would willingly die this way, as his own life would be complete, and it would maximize his offspring's chance to survive, thrive, and continue the cycle. Likewise, if any of his spawn came out dysfunctional or otherwise unfit, it would be killed & consumed by Lavos. All this is in accordance with Darwinism, which applies even to him, and there are species irl who do as I described.

I haven't forgotten about this (although the past couple years have been alot to deal with). You can harvest the finished or half-finished illustrations anytime IMO. Myself and Syna did much of the theoretical work, but we've stalled out due to a lack of art production. If I had the hand for it, I'd do it myself, but that's not where my talents lie (or at least, I haven't developed that faculty). All I ask is that you leave the forum up, at least for now; I want to finish filling in theoretical details.

things have quieted down for the time being. it was really ridiculous in there for awhile. admittedly I got my hands dirty, mostly because certain individuals exhausted my patience. there may have been provocative posts in there, but the response to them was disproportionate. all in all, some things can't be ironed out without moderation. thanks for intervening.

perhaps they weren't familiar with Magus' powers, and didn't realize that he (and Ozzie) can cast Lightning.

what matters most is the thematic meaning and style, rather than following the illustration in a literal sense. if you can do both, that's great, but there are often trade-offs in work such as this.
my idea for the Sun is to depict Lucca charging up a ball of bright yellow energy with the Wondershot. this would capture the energy, dynamism, sun imagery, reason & science connection, character, etc. in a single unified concept. of course, it's ultimately up to you the illustrator, but that's my best suggestion.

yes, it's supposed to shift back-and-forth between your headphones. I always thought that was a cool effect.
I'm surprised you had that much trouble with the fight. maybe you were underleveled? your level should at least ~40 by endgame.
yes, Lavos shifts his essence to the right bit as a deceptive defense. it's tricky indeed, but it is the final battle of the game, so it's not supposed to pull any punches.

of course I've thoroughly played through CT.
grinding up to level ** is tedious, so I'd recommend using PAR codes (Pro Action Replay) if you want to fight Nu Spekkio. just be aware, if you get a massive amount of experience/level-ups through PAR, the game might lag for awhile, so you just have to wait it out.

I think it's intentional, but lacks refinement. If you open the menu, enemies sneak up on you. Unfortunately the code doesn't allow for specific menu button checks, so it's always X.

sure enough, it's true. as you said, it's very unpolished. enemies sneaking up on you for menu'ing is a cool idea, but it seems like the implementation is half-finished. I would've liked to see them flesh it out more, and use it in more places. one of my many favorite things about the game is how it plays around with meta-references and 4th wall breaks, e.g. Dalton demanding a music change on the Blackbird, and the Johnny encounter. when you first get to Johnny, you're surrounded by robots and it plays battle music, only to switch over to Johnny's theme when he arrives. as the player, you react as if you're about to do battle, then it gets subverted; so you the player share your characters experience.
this is going off on a tangent, but I just wanted to state my thoughts.
