I'd say Ayla. I believe she changed the least out of the group. By the time you meet her, she's already figured herself out. How she is, and how she wants to be.

Crono could be the least. It depends how you play and interpret his actions.

... but I usually have Frog defeat him in the end.
Hah, they should make the fight tougher to give me a gameplay wise reason not to kill him but sadly because Lavos weakened him much, even Frog himself can defeat him easily.

You have a good point. His magic in general is kind of pathetic. First time you fight him, he's very powerful. Then the characters get stronger, and by the time you get him, he's weaker not just weaker than he started, but he's weaker than any of your current character. He should at least be on the same level as them.

Polling / Re: Should a new game+ game be harder?
« on: March 03, 2010, 12:36:36 am »
It'd be good to have a choice. It's pretty fun to go through with Beserkers and wipe most beasts out...even more so to do that with Lavos. :) However, it would be nice to make it harder without starting a new game or using weaker weapons. Actually, I think I'd want to make it so the enemies are harder, but the regular beasts are still easy.

I didn't vote in the poll because none of them really applied.

Wow, old topic, but I see people are still replying. :)

My opinion on him varies. He's fun to have in the group once in a while, but I usually have Frog defeat him in the end. :) I'd probably keep him more often if there was less people to begin with...though I wouldn't want to get rid of anyone.

I agree it can be tiring to hear everyone act likes he's the best, but it depends the situation and how they feel about other characters. If it's outside of a normal Chrono Trigger situation, it's neat to see CT acknowledged. However, it's annoying when say he's talked about greatly while everyone else is put down.

Also, lookign back at that last post didn't he already(Crono) have the strongest weapon in the game?

I thought the powered up Masamune was, but I could be wrong.

You're pretty much saying, "I don't like Crono because he's the central protagonist and therefore plays the largest role in the story." And also, the main character is more than usually the one towield the strongest weapon.

No, that's not basically what I'm saying. For one, I never said I didn't like him. I listed three reasons as to why I like him least out of the playable characters. The reasons are...

(1) Through much of the game, I have to use him. I would have preferred being able to pick any team I want. Some of the non-Crono triple techs would be fun to use earlier in the game.

(2) A lot of people within the game talk about his greatness. I know the game isn't really bad with this, and the other characters do get credit from time to time. It still bugs me though.

(3) He has the strong magic attack (and now in the DS, possibly the strongest weapon as well). Personally, I think Magus should have the strongest magic attack and Lucca should have the second strongest. The reason is that they are stronger in magic than with physical weapons. I see Crono as a swordsman first and a magician second, so I think his biggest attack should have to do with the sword. At the very least, if he is suppose to be a magician as much as he is a swordsman, then he should be strong in both, but not the strongest in either of them.

I know there is an explanation for each of those, and I know the explanations. However, they don't change my mind.

I gave three reasons, and they don't boil down to only one of the reasons. Also, depending how you play the game, other characters can be just as productive in saving the world...even more so, depending on what you do after Crono dies. In that case, he wouldn't be any greater of a hero than the other character(s).

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: I don't understand King Guardia

Also, don't one of the soldiers make a comment about the treasury room being new? Something like, "Was there stairs there before?"

As for King Guardia not knowing, I found that strange too. While I've heard various explanations for this, it doesn't really make sense to me. Then again Marle getting confused striked me as odd too. Then again I always did this plot right after getting the rainbow shell, so its like, "Uh, Marle, you just asked your ancestors to hold on to it." Her confusion makes sense if she wasn't part of the party that got the rainbow shell in the first place.

As for the trial going on longer. I get the impression that it wasn't started until after Guardia's final fight with Marle (whenever you play that to be). Otherwise, as you said, him listening to fake Chancellor about how to deal with Marle while fake Chancellor is trying to frame him wouldn't make much sense. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but doesn't it seem to be just starting when they arrive at the castle? I imagine the trial system taking longer than what is shown, but not weeks. I kind of figured that was the point. The accused isn't given any time to do anything.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Best Party?

I like Marle, Lucca/Magus, and Glenn/Ayla. Which combo I prefer depends on my mood. I don't know if you can reach the Dimensional Distortion before Crono dies in New Game +.

I'd get rid of Crono. I get tired of having to use him and hearing how great he is (in the game). After he dies, I revive him and never use him again. I would say he is the (Gary) Sue of the game. The other characters talk about how great he is. He has the strongest single tech magic attack in the game, and now with the new DS game, it seems (based on Chrono Compendium's weapon information) he has the strongest weapon in the game.

Certain boss(es) can remove status immunity.

Okay. Well, that sucks. It kind of defeats the purpose of them having status immunity.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Prism Helm

Prism Helm is supposed to protects status. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I recall them doing that in Chrono Trigger SNES. They don't seem to do that on DS. I've gotten chaos, stop, slow, poison, and sap while wearing those.

I always got a kick out of doing the Rainbow Shell side quest with Magus in lead so then I get Leene to beg the King to store the rainbow shell on behalf of "Sir Magus' honor"

Yeah, that is funny. Or for the people who talk about Magus as being a bad guy after he's in your team...if you renamed him, they use that name.
