General Discussion / Re: Time Hollow

I played it. Interesting little game.
It reminded me of the movie Butterfly Effects.
It had great potential, considering how you can temper with past events, but alas, there were no multiple branches aside from a few minor bits and the story was too linear. Almost no replay value except for that one new game+ that ends as soon as it starts.
I must say though that I like the opening song a lot.

Holy Lavos! Almost six hundred pages! o_O
Is anyone going to buy it?

At this point, I'll probably just pay professional translators out of my pocket once my business career begins in 2010.
To translate a whole book? Do you know how much it would cost to do that?!
It costs couple hundred dollars just to translate a few pages of documents...

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Just Got My Copy

Yeah, you can name Chrono "Chrono".

Hot dang!
Hmm...... I could leave his name in Kana... but the word is originally English to begin with... oh the dilemma!
Guess I'll just get the US one.
Thanks for the confirmation.

ROFL the day when CTDS US version got released, the ROM forums were full of pages and pages of "where is the piracy bypass patch, can we use the same save file as the Japanese version" posts.

Sad. Very sad.

Haven't got mine yet.
Is the US version's translation/script exactly the same as the Japanese version?
Starting to wonder if I should just import the original...

General Discussion / Re: Canon?
« on: November 25, 2008, 10:08:11 pm »
Canon as it's used on the internet means the parts of series that actually happen on screen and are included into the overall story. Fanfiction and "silly, non-canon" parts aren't taken into account when considering the plot and such.

Marle being part frog, while it happens in an ending in CT, is not considered part of the Chrono Canon of what happens for certain.
Thanks for clearing that up.
How did the word become to be used in this way?

What exactly does the word mean?
The meaning that I know seems to be different from the way it's used here...

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: The Mystery of the Black Nu in CT DS

Speaking of which, when I went to Cursed Woods (near Frog's residence) I encountered a Nu running around.
Has it always been there?

The only thing that would have prevented a "leak" of the game would have been a simultaneous North American/Japanese release as opposed to a staggered one. This possibility was probably considered, since the Japanese release already has the English localizations in it, but decided against for strategic business/sales purposes.

That's because this "leak" is just the Japanese ROM being released on the Internet and the anti-piracy features broken. Realistically, no amount of effort on the part of Square-Enix to protect their assets from any sort of leak could have prevented this from happening, except for either a simultaneous world-wide release, or not putting English localizations in the Japanese release.

My thought exactly.
I don't know what their "strategic business/sales purpose" was but it didn't work out. I mean, they already had the English script in the Japanese version. They really should have seen this coming...
I bet most of people who are affected by this "leak" are people who were going to buy it in the first place, but knowing that they can start playing and see the differences without waiting for few more days, they downloaded/watched to weigh their options to see if it was really worth spending the money for a game they have played many times over already.
I'm still buying it. They'd better bring out a sequel for this. :P

I personally try out the ROMs to see if I really want the game or not, since I don't want to buy it without knowing the gameplay and end up wasting money for something that I'll be done within an hour and never play again.
I do buy most of the games that I like. It's the only way to support the game industry to bring out better games in the future.

I do wish however that Chrono Resurrection was allowed to be finished... :(

OMG! OMG! OMG!

Hi. I just registered here just so I could say this. XD

OMG! WTF! ACK! OMG! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!...huh?
(okay I'm done now)

A job well done for all of you who put effort into bringing us the news!
lol @ Kato finding out the uses of duct tape
I wonder if they will update Chrono Cross and port it over to maybe Wii or PS3 or make an entirely new sequel...?
Or was this only to tie a few loose ends? Boy, they sure got us worked up. Now I feel like playing CC again...

Oh and for differences, I'm SO thankful for the perma-run setting. :D
