CuteLucca, like many other fans have done over the years, is focusing more on life than on hobbies. Sucks for us, but I wish her luck all the same.

That's a mega bummer. At least you've got next year to look forward to.

General Discussion / Meetup at PAX Prime 2011???
« on: August 07, 2011, 09:32:08 pm »
Just curious to know if any of our members will be attending PAX prime at the end of this month. And if so, would it at all be possible for there to be a little meetup? Even if it ends up just being 3 people, it would still be nice for it to happen. Plus, I'd have a good reason towards bringing my ghetto-ish* Prince Janus cosplay with me (was having a hard time deciding between doing him and doing Super Mario; a friend of mine told me that Mario would be better because of recognizability, but I'm still wanting to do both for the sake of my passion for CT).

((* = It looks more like a dress than a poncho, and the collar is a bit more like Schala's than that of Janus; which of course has resulted in some people mistaking me for her while wearing it...))

So... any fellow compendium-ites attending the convention?!

Well, I'm certainly hoping that the passionate efforts of the fans will work.

And I happily joined their Facebook page, too. May we succeed!!!

Here is a link to my entry in the contest

Nothing wrong with voting for friends, ya know. What bothers me are people voting for cosplayers just because they're famous or whatever and not basing their votes on technical or epic merit of the cosplays themselves (an exception to this being my bud Malindachan; she earned her fame from her badass skillz). Or voting for someone just because it's a character you like. *sigh*

General Discussion / Re: Storytelling in Video Games
« on: June 11, 2011, 02:46:50 am »
One thing about storytelling in games that I think more game designers need to take to heart is being able to do something that isn't horribly cliched (a feat that nowadays seems impossible since a lot of great ideas have already been thought up, etc.). Maybe have the story start out being a usual fantasy or sci-fi tale (or whatever genre the RPG has; clever combinations... whatev), then when the player doesn't expect it, the story starts to veer down a very unique path that's refreshingly unexpected - as a result of the actions they take, items they use or don't use, and other interesting twists. Interactivity useful to the story indeed. Anyone remember the dear old King's Quest games? Those had wonderful stories that played out in fun or cool ways depending on interacting with items, characters, and the environment. I loved that. Made it truly a game, but also have a great story and characters that kept you coming back for more. And when it comes to games of the currents systems, I must mention the one game that has tremendously amazed and wowed me by storyline alone: Eternal Sonata. Not only did it have a creative and bizarrely unique premise, characters you come to care about (or hate/feel sorry for in the case of the villains), a cool theme throughout (names, weapons, and other stuff being music or dance-related), but it also had some thrilling twists that were totally unexpected (the beginning scene being a distressing glimpse of part of the end, a character being restored to partial life merely by willing themselves to stay in the world out of love for another, and the existence of the real world constantly throwing the game's world into doubt with the main guy, causing major conflict on top of the other troubles throughout the course of the story... resulting in the final fight of the game being a massive shocker/depressing). ((On another note, that game seriously made my mouth drop while watching the movie scenes that played out at the end and during the credits; A game that reminds you of all the kinds of darkness in the world, and makes you wish to strive for change? Lots of deeply heavy stuff...))

Eternal Sonata had plenty of interactivity, besides wonderful movie scenes & the like. Proof to me that such a thing is not a hindrance to great storytelling, but merely a guide towards creating some interesting and thought-provoking experiences that stick with the player for a long time.

Hey, I remember you Oblivion. ^__^

And I know how you feel. I don't post that much in here at all, so a bunch of n00bs probably wonder who the heck I am.  :P

A remake of BoF2 would be seriously epic. I love that game so much.

Dragon Quarter is still pissing me off for how lame it was... sort of like how Unlimited SaGa ruined the SaGa Frontier series.

@ Tionniel = You are truly awesome for this. And that video was priceless.  :D

That competition is pretty fierce. I'm in it, but sadly I've been screwed over for votes (only got 16; the cosplay I entered was my Pokemon Fisherman Girl, involving an epic pose of me holding a Lure Ball). A ton of my friends are in the contest as well, and I'm amazed how lucky they've been (one bud has gotten over 300 votes so far on her costume).

Hmmm... maybe I should've entered as Janus instead (but I have no good photo of that yet...arrgh).

Ugh. I can't believe that moronic twat spent time on that darn piece of lameness. Pathetic.

And like Tushantin, I too had a weird dream involving Dark Serge. Oh the irony (though I hope that dream never becomes real; I dreamt that he somehow managed to get the site in worser trouble and it was shut down following poor Z getting roasted in court by S-E). Also, never mentioned this before when he first 'betrayed' us, but his username is oddly similar to that of the douchebag older brother of a friend of my sister (who used to harass us for liking CT so much). I wonder if he is that same ass. *shudders at the thought*

General Discussion / Did anyone know about this???

If this information is intended for a different forum, I am unsure as to where it should go.

The Smithsonian Institute is doing something involving videogames, and Chrono Trigger is one of the games nominated to represent the Super NES for the 16-bit era of gaming... Here's the site for it:

As a Republican myself, I find this stuff sickening. I don't like discussing politics at all (especially since most people I ever talk to either act like total morons, be assholes to me over my beliefs, quote stuff that's partially untrue and don't give an informed opinion, or all of that combined). But no matter what party that you side with, this stuff is just... unbelievable.

Hoping and praying that this nightmare gets resolved without major conflict, etc.

Found out about that art just today when a friend posted it on their Facebook.

*high-fives Sajainta* Just gotta say, but LttP forever is awesome. If anything, on the same level as OoT in my opinion.
