Project ZEAL / Taking Roll. Please Reply.

Sorry, everyone.

I've had a complete creative meltdown as of late. This semester has been absolutely hell.

It would definately be a shame if all of this went to waste, though. Is anyone else still interested, or has the time for this project come and gone?

Magic, Elements, and Technology / Josh's Magic Guide to the Chrono Series

I think it's interesting that the spells Zealians seem to like using don't line up neatly with a particular element. Look at the magic the Queen uses in her various forms.

I know it's been refuted that a "Lavos Magic" exists, but I think it's pretty clear that Lavos has twisted the Planet's natural energies for his own purposes. I think "Planet Power as Seen through a Dark Mirror" is a fantastic way of wording this.

I think that's also why the rest of Zeal - outside the Gurus, who recognize the true source of Lavos' power - seems to think that Janus lacks any magical ability whatsoever. Perhaps, for some reason or another, he never "taps into" Lavos and thus his magical talent is realized as the natural magical energy of the Planet. It's also why the Zealians laugh at Crono & Co's arcane power, even though Crono & Co probably could have cut down virtually any Zealian standing before them.

Good idea.

It might be worth holding off on presenting the project so far for a little while longer, as we may have several new recruits joining in the very near future. That would allow us to insert their introductions along with everyone else's.

Just looked over the Wiki transfer and I think it works nicely. I'm not sure how to edit it as I've never done it myself, but if I searched around for a few minutes I think I could figure it out. I'll try and add the "stats" early this week.

I think if the character serves any major role whatsoever, they should be added to the Wiki. Remember when we talked about writing a "readers manual" for the Project? If we do a complete job here, we'll have most of that ready when the time comes to release it.

Hmm. I suspect that the Toma scene would be handled well by CTF, since he can tie that into Garg's storyline more easily (if he needs to any further) if he was writing it.

Does it help to think of it as "everything but ready"?

Makes sense to me. X is pretty much complete, save a few minor loose ends. It's "all there", but just shy of being ready to present.

: )

I've haven't been present on the site much, or for that matter, online anywhere over the past week or so. I've had a number of other things to deal with, and I've been a little burnt-out on the whole, so I'm taking a wee bit of a hiatus for maybe another week.

I think the next scene that we need posted is ZeaLitY's Gaspar post and revelation of what all is at stake. When that's up Atrius, ZeaLitY, and I have scenes that are all-but ready to be submitted.

It's been far too long since I've played CC to remember, but - does it every explictly (or implicitly) state that Schala had anything to do with what happens to the two worlds after she is freed?

Schala had the power to reach into the timeline as part of the Time Devourer - but once separated, why should she still retain that power? If this is the case, she has no capacity to fuse the two timelines together.

I don't really like the "best of both worlds" theory. Besides being sappy, it's far too complicated as every single event occuring in the two timelines would have to be considered and reconsidered to piece together a new one.

I forget what the game says about the ending though, so who knows. I'm probably forgetting a lot of facts here.

General Discussion / Forum Style Ideas!

I noticed the other day (and maybe this is just on my computer) that on the alternate colour scheme, buttons like "submit" & "preview" were hard to read because they were both gray. (I think)

Might want to look into that. I dunno if those are the same buttons you were talking about earlier.

General Discussion / A Mailbag?

I concur.

And yes, I posted just because I wanted to say "concur".

Really though, "personalities" answering the mail isn't something I've seen before. That's a really good way to distinguish our mailbag and be creative at the same time.

Lmao.

Although, this is probably a safe a forum as it gets to admit that.

Obviously I'm still here, which could have gone without saying.

Sessi & Naomi are tied up with Aias and some interesting things are about to unfold there at the ball.

It just now occurred to me to ask whether or not anyone is interested writing for the "villians" of our fic - the Council members and their lackeys. I've introduced most of them (if not all) earlier in the fic, but other than one or two, nothing specific has been planned for the Council members there. If anyone's got an evil streak they're looking to indulge....

Oh, really. Well, my shape is your strength. If you bozos are strong, I look buff. If you're weak, I look like a wimp.
...Huh? You punks... you have it. Your hearts' power...
Oh, I get it, that old coot outside let you in.
A zillion years before you brats were born... There was a kingdom where magic thrived. In that world, everybody could use it.
But that kingdom drowned in its own power...
Since then, people haven't been able to use magic. Well, except for the Mystics, right?
But you guys have it. Your hearts are strong. Magic is the strength of your heart -- your power.
Magic consists of four powers: Heaven, Dark, Fire, and Water.

Something about this interests me.

From this interpretation, it seems to suggest that humans are by no means "denied" the capacity to use magic. Before Spekkio ever "enables" them to use magic, he claims they have the power - strength of heart.

Its not radically different from our English translation, but I think the Japanese leaves a loophole for more humans to have the capacity to use magic than merely Crono & Co.

Anyone else getting this impression at all?

Kajar Laboratories / Legacies of the Fallen, Altered Second Chapter

Originally I had Leander trying to save a little kid he heard screaming, but I changed it so he was more or less just trying to shush the kid up.  He's one of my villians and his frantic attempt to save the little boy just didn't seem to fit him as well as I would have liked.

Ah!

I was a little confused at where you were going with that. Leander didn't seem like the type that would go out of his way to help a little kid like that and I couldn't decide if you were trying to reveal that somewhere deep down he had a good side.

I'll have to read the newer version soon.

4/8 - I'm not quite happy with this chapter still, so I've temporarily taken it down for the time being... Expect to see it reworked in the near future.

Sorry if you were hoping to read it soon!

I believe this next scenario is going to start of with Gaspar giving a brief explanation of what's going on to the people gathered at the End of Time. From there I'd assume everyone is heading back to the Middle Ages - I think we tried to setup two subplots going at once awhile back, but the idea never seemed to catch on.
