Favorite games, huh? Let's see...
The Portal series, the Half-Life Series (but mostly HL2, I only played the original Half-Life once and while it was a fun ride, I really prefer the focus on characters and story that 2 was able to have because of the advance in technology. That being said, I really adore Crowbar Collective's Black Mesa, especially its Xen!) Undertale and Deltarune, Disco Elysium, the Psychonauts games, To the Moon and its sequels, Omori, Inscryption, Celeste, Night In the Woods, Anodyne and Anodyne 2, The Talos Principle, Oneshot, and the very weird and SUPREMELY underrated visual novels Milk Inside a Bag Of Milk Inside a Bag of Milk and Milk Outside a Bag of Milk Outside a Bag of Milk!
...I have a lot of favorites, and my taste in mechanics and genre is pretty all over the place. I mostly play games to get wrapped up in stories, but there are some exceptions where I also just enjoy how good the gameplay feels, like Celeste and Inscryption. I've noticed that I have a special love for games that use character's minds/dreams/memories as settings, To The Moon, Omori, and Psychonauts all take the concept in radically different directions and they're all games I adore.
If I had to pick one favorite game, it'd probably be Portal 2, because when I was younger it really changed my perception of what video games were like, what they could do, and just how funny they could be, even if they looked "serious"!
Also, shoutout to this game! Holy crap I have never felt so seen by any piece of media before what the heck

Hey, sorry for being so late to reply, but yeah! I'm definitely going to go for NG+ and check out some romhacks. I was kinda worried that my post would just get forgotten about, so thanks for saying hi! I'm more used to hanging out on Discord and not used to this older style of message board yet, and I was a little bit worried that no one used this place anymore, so it feels good to be proven wrong in that regard! Also I am considering joining the Compendium Discord server, but I'm a little shy and would prefer to join after I find the time to actually finish Trigger first. Usually what I do when I get hopelessly stuck in games is to just make a new save file and try again from the beginning.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Is Magus really all that cool?

Magus is a fantastic character, but I will never not love making fun of him. Standing there on the bridge of the End of Time, all broody, trying to look cool... what an edgelord! This is basically him

For real though, Ayla smashing into the scene, pinning Crono to the wall and then declaring that she likes strong men and strong women too (bi cavewoman rights!) and then reacting with "No rubbish or Ayla head go boom!" to Robo trying to explain what he is to her and then inviting them all to party with her tribe was one of the moments that made me really start loving Chrono Trigger. I also thought it was adorable and pretty funny that one of her moves is literally giving kisses to injured party members to make me feel better! And then later on she's able to steal stuff from opponents in through the power of flirting and no one can resist her sexy cavewoman wiles... absolute legend.
Side note: I also really liked the bit where she smacks Kino and then explains to him that no, it's not that she personally thinks he's bad, is that she actually likes him a lot and respects him and it disappoints her to see him act like a petty jerk to Crono. Minus the smack, I think it does a nice job of showing a level of social skill and leadership on her part, helps me understand why she's the leader of Ioka village. And then later on when she's willing to offer help to Azala (one of my favorite secondary/antagonistic characters in CT) it's like she's not even thinking about humans vs. reptites, good us vs. bad them anymore, she just wanted to help someone she respected. She has that line about Azala being really smart early on. I think it's probably easy to mistake Ayla for being just dumb muscle/eye candy due to her being a literal cavewoman, but she's actually pretty emotionally mature, at least in my opinion. Anyway yeah Ayla kicks ass

'Sup, I'm Katie and I'm a big dork who spends too much time online. Also I'm currently a college sophomore majoring in illustration! I'd like to draw comics and graphic novels someday.

Sup, I'm Katie. I like to draw stuff and have a moderate case of Chrono Trigger brainrot, I picked it up like a month ago because I knew it had influenced other games I like, and I thought that the pixel art was really beautiful and then, oh dear, I have fallen head over heels in love with this cult classic JRPG that's 8 years older than I am! Anyway I've been stuck on the final phase of the Lavos battle f o r e v e r but I WILL kick this guy's ass eventually! Might hold off on posting more until I accomplish the feat. So uh yeah! That's me. Have some silly drawings!

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that Frog is my favorite character and I love him a lot. Okay, that's all folks!
