History, Locations, and Artifacts / Telepod - Any Known Materials?
« on: July 08, 2008, 04:16:50 am »
I got to thinking about Lucca's telepod earlier today, and realized I had no idea what materials it was made of.

Is there any mention of materials used to create the telepod during the story? Considering that it was capable of interacting with the gate at the Millennial Fair, I was starting to wonder if it had some amount of Dreamstone in it... I know Melchior says something to the extent of "There's none to be found in this era" when he mentions it later in the game, and that Marle's pendant is more than likely the actual cause, but I thought I'd throw the idea out there.

Thoughts:

-If Dreamstone is a factor of opening gates, that could mean that the Gate Key was utilizing Dreamstone to some effect. It'd help explain why the party couldn't access the 65,000,000 B.C gate after the key was stolen.
-It'd help explain why the Gate Key had any function at all; it makes little reason for some random invention Lucca whipped up just happened to open gates unless it was a particular material that she noticed reacted to the gate. The key was then crafted to help lodge said material in place, and she could use it to travel between gates without error.

This is all largely speculation. There isn't any particularly strong evidence that the telepod/Gate Key had any Dreamstone in it, but again, I thought I'd go ahead and ask what the plausibility of this idea is.

Chrono Compendium Discussion / Encyclopidia corrections
« on: December 04, 2007, 02:36:43 pm »
Well, I've been a member for a while, but never really bother posting. Still, I check the site at least once a day, and use the encyclopedia often. Looking at some of CC's bosses, I've noticed a few things that I figured I should go ahead and point out:

1. Royal Jelly's page, for some reason, links to Miguel's bio.

2. Fire Dragon (Before Ft. Dragonia) seems to have WAY too much health. Seriously, 3900? I don't have an exact number handy, but I'd guess it was somewhere around 1200, as I just did that fight all of twenty minutes ago on my new file >.>

3. The Earth Dragon's page lists it's innate element as Black, and needs to be changed to Yellow.

4. This one I'm not so sure about, but thought I should ask anyway. The Dragoon boss (If you don't talk to the Water Dragon) is listed as dropping the FrogPrince Trap, not the summon. I've yet to fight this boss myself, but people who have say that he drops the actual summon. Also, are the HP values correct for the two listed? I imagine the boss would have had the higher HP than the side-room opponent, who (If I recall correctly) always appears.

5. The listing for FrogPrince seems to have a couple problems. For one, it links to the Green Tech list for Dragon Rider, which I assume was supposed to say Dragoon instead. The other is the explanation for how to obtain it from the Water Dragon; in the "Don't save Kid" route, at least, you can still obtain it from him after entering the S.S. Invincible. I myself just did the S.S. Invincible, then got Kid back, then did the Water Dragon Isle quest.

Well, that's all I've found so far; 'll let you know if I see anything else!

Characters, Plot, and Themes / A view of CC...
« on: January 06, 2006, 03:35:07 pm »
I feel rather silly for asking this, but... What the hell. Why not.

I've been trying to follow the story of the Chrono games since CC came out way back when. I was, admitedly, very confused at first, and was one of those who thought "This game sucks!" I liked the battle system, but got lost in the story.

I've read the CC Plot summary thingie twice now, as well as a good chunk of the different section's on how the timeline's work and how they're affected, due to certain actions taken during CC.

One thing that bugs me though, is how depressing CC's story is, even compared to CT...

In CT, your group is trying to SAVE the future. You travel across time, originally trying to stop the planet's destroyer from ever being created, then ultimately trying to kill said destroyer.

However, in CC, Serge is trying to keep himself alive, thus dooming the future. Also, if we assume that a "complete" game (Getting all Lvl 7 techs is my main focus here) is the true ending used for future Chrono games, then you destroy an entire race (Dwarves), and nearly destroy another (Faeries).  It seems like the few moments of happiness are replaced by an overwhelming attitude of sadness. Serge is constantly being used during the game (Getting to Ft. Dragonia, the six Dragons), and still continues to fight on, though he's been told that his existence dooms humanity.

I would just like to know if I've gotten this mixed up in some sort of way... CC is so depressing, what with Lucca and Robo being crushed, I'm just hoping that I don't understand CC as well as I think I do.
