Chrono Trigger: Threads of Time / Ok, seriously.
« on: March 30, 2006, 05:07:42 pm »
Are we gonna meet or wut. Justin, you're the team leader so it's kinda your responsibility to formulate meetings that flow with everybody's schedules.

...During the Fort Dragonia sequence (first) where you *become* Lynx. On my fourth playthrough, I finally managed to kill Serge. However, it nearly killed me, and I was in no position to take out the others.

Has anybody pulled it off?

When you start a new game +, along with the time shifter and time egg, you also start off with an item that supposedly lets you switch in Serge for another party member. I've been curious about it, yet never had a chance to use it in any of my playthroughs.

Er...how *do* you use it?

Since some of us have no idea what's going on (I.e me) with the current issues with the projects beyond what Justin's been saying, can anybody fill me in?

Chrono Trigger: Threads of Time / Group Meetings
« on: November 03, 2005, 07:28:28 pm »
Should we schedule some regular meetings (I.e every Friday or so) where we can all communicate in real time on current issues of the project?

I just did it, at the beginning of my fourth play through and I nearly died (was careless - I really should have equipped a green plate. Would have helped with 3/4's of the battle.) Though the developer's ending was a lot of fun to see.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / The Unification of the Dimensions
« on: October 16, 2005, 07:05:44 pm »
During the "official" ending of Chrono Cross, you seperate Schala from Lavos, he's left to *finally* vanish from existance forever, and somehow the dimensions are rejoined to form a perfect, or ideal timeline. But what really is considered, "Ideal?" To the planet, it would be the reptite dimension, I assume. However, Serge waking up on the beach with his memories erased as if he never crossed dimensions disproves that. So does this mean that Home World becomes the unified dimension? Well, that would suck in my opinion, considering all these characters you're supposed to appreciate (The Dragoons, especially) might not exist in this period. But if it's Another World...than how is Serge alive?

I assume it's NOT one of the dimensions simply taking precedence, and that it is a combination of sorts. But what would be included, and what wouldn't?

If it really is ideal, than would the Kingdom of Zeal still stand? Would Lucca be alive and well (assuming she was killed by Lynx), and would Guardia reign again? Would FATE exist in the future to create El Nido, even though FATE seemed to be the planet's biggest enemy?

Thoughts are appreciated.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Master Hammer
« on: October 08, 2005, 02:56:44 pm »
Ok...I've finally (it's taken 3 playthroughs) defeated the Black Dragon in combat with it FULLY awake, and I finally did the home world Marbule sidequest. My question is: Where can I buy the Master Hammer?

I killed what appeared to be all of the Lagoonates in Home World (after killing what seemed to be the "final" one, I heard a "distant roar", which I'm assuming is the awakening of the black dragon.) Did I miss any? Does he awaken even if you don't finish the quest?

General Discussion / Kingdom of Loathing
« on: October 01, 2005, 01:09:18 pm »
Well, considering that from the Freeware game thread, a handful of people play Kingdom of Loathing, so I decided to make a thread about it.

What is Kingdom of Loathing?

Well...a bit hard to explain, but here are some of the basics. It's a browser-based online RPG, where you pick your class and "adventure. The difference is, instead of being in a serious fantasy setting, it's a very humourous game, with parodies of pop culture and not so pop culture. You class choices are "Seal Clubber, Turtle Tamer, Pastamancer, Sauceror, Disco Bandit, and Accordion Thief." Which go along with the three stats you can have (Muscle, Mysticality, and Moxie). The first two are, "Muscle classes," which mean their primary stat is muscle and can only level up when they gain muscle, and so on for the myst and moxie classes. Muscle = Strength, obviously. Mysticality = Affects how much damage your skills do, and Moxie = Avoidance, speed etc.

In game, you use "adventures," which are sort of like turns. Places in the game which are similar to "dungeons" in other online RPGs normally take up adventures (these places have a, (1) next to their name). You start off with 80 when you first create your character, and you gain 40 a day (without any items that increase your daily count. For example, I have certain items that make it so I get 60 a day.)

You can get familiars...ranging from Sabre-Toothed Limes to Coffee Pixies, which aid you in different forms when you're adventuring. Also, one of the higher points of the game is it has a decent community. You're not able to directly play with somebody (I.e adventure with another person.) But you can send messages with items/meat (which is the currency.) etc. There is a chat, with several different rooms ranging from practical (/newbie, /trade.) to purely social (/foodcourt, /haiku etc.), where the chat rules ARE enforced, so it's a pretty clean and respectable place most of the time (It's not Runescape, for the better.)

Anyways...if you have some free time, it's http://www.kingdomofloathing.com If you do decide to join, pop me a message (Kazuki.) and I'll give you some stuff so you can have a head start =).

(P.S. It's definitly not one of those lame, "referral" games. Such as the ones where if somebody else clicks a link you get a soldier etc.)

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Chrono Cross New Game + Question
« on: September 29, 2005, 06:53:21 pm »
Ok, I'm aware that like Chrono Trigger you can get multiple endings for defeating the Time Devourer at certain points of the game. My question is, for all of them save the, "official," ending, do you need to physically kill it? Considering you don't start off with the Chrono Cross in New Game +, I'd assume so...but I found that a tad odd (shouldn't it be the same as the bad ending?) It just makes more sense to me to do the Chrono Cross pattern to gain the additional endings, as it's the only way that really, "solves the problem.

Mine would be that I had to make 5 attempts at the Hydra on my first playthrough...I didn't full grasp the concept of not having two people heal and one attack, so consequently, I died many a time.

Yours?

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Retrieving old party members
« on: September 25, 2005, 10:19:35 pm »
I'm curious if you can re-recruit the party members (I.e Glenn, Guile etc.) prior the Fort Dragonian events. On my first game, I tried speaking to a former party member (as Serge right before Chronopolis) and she did not rejoin, yet I see screenshots of people using "Serge" acquired characters in places like Chronopolis and Terra Tower, and I was wondering how this is possible*.

*I read something that when you get the Chrono Cross on a new game +, you can bring back all your party members from the first file, but I was wondering if it's possible in any other way...

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Marbule Sidequest...
« on: September 23, 2005, 11:44:12 pm »
Ok, I've read FAQs/talked to some people, and they all say that when you bring Another's Fargo to Home's, he will take control of the boat, smash into Marbule yadda yadda yadda...and most importantly, wake up the Black Dragon. Anyways, taking the Black relic from the sleeping dragon on my first playthrough thus missing the black plate and more importantly, the Master Hammer (So no rainbow-created items for me.) On my second playthrough, I whizzed through the game with the intentions of getting the hammer/plate this time around. So I got up to the point, and decided to kill a few dragons, then take Fargo to...Fargo. But even though I hadn't taken the relic, he still said all that garbage about how the concert has ended and that you can't turn back the hands of time etc. Being stupid, I went to Marbule again and decided to see if bugging the black dragon would do anything, and managed to take the relic AGAIN from him when he's sleeping. Gah!

So I restarted from my last saved point, and got up to where you first get Fargo and headed to home world and as SOON as I got there, I zipped to the S.S. Zelbess to go see if it would work this time. When I got there...he still said the same thing, and nothing happened.

I don't understand this...was there something I was supposed to do prior to this that I missed? If all it takes is the two Fargoes to meet, than something's wrong, because I'm bringing them together as soon as possible.
