Just think about this: the Chrono Universe essentially spans millions and millions of years. There could even be other PLANETS with humans living on them, and we're well aware that the super-species of which Lavos is a member produces quite a large number of spawn. Even if you think that's too far out there, why couldn't Lavos be defeated by different people multiple times? Chrono Cross has already obfuscated and muddied the waters so much as to render any objection questionable at best.

Why does it seem (at least to me) that the majority of people are obsessed with a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger? All of the elements which kept you captivated would still ultimately be there: time travel, dimensional travel, a rag-tag group of should be, would be, will be heroes from different places and times. Why is it of paramount importance that it be the same group of heroes? The group in Chrono Trigger ultimately completed their goal. Whether or not they simply delayed Lavos (we know they didn't) or out-right defeated it, banishing it to the DBT, their mission was fulfilled. What would you have a direct sequel be about, pray tell? Chasing Crono's mother and cats through time? (Yes, I'm well aware of Crimson Echoes, and what I saw of it on Youtube years back, it was very well crafted--I even contributed a little myself and opted not to have my name listed on the credits because I wasn't even sure I had contributed enough to justify my placement there, but I digress. Ultimately it doesn't change the fact that hoops were jumped through to create a story for the game and it was clearly borrowed VERY heavily from Chrono Cross in many ways, but that's a story for another time. Haha. So punny.)

Ultimately, I surmise, a dissatisfaction with anything except a direct sequel is likely a product of rose-tinted nostalgia goggles which prevents you from being able to accept that Chrono Trigger was never really about its characters in-so-much as it was about its deeper underlying themes. Crono could have been a blue-haired girl named Rhia and it would not have affected the outcome in any appreciable way. Likewise for every character in the game.  The game would have still been a commercial success and would have still captivated the imaginations of children and adults alike for years and years after its release, much like it does now.

Naturally, feel free to leave your opinions, or perhaps your shock that an eleven year old account has spontaneously begun posting again.

Awhile ago, AOL accidentally released search logs of a vast amount of their customers. There was some coverage on SA, as usual, and I came across this while reading:

Square-Enix would never allow the novelisation of copyrighted material. Let alone by amateur writers. Something that has also disturbed me is the total lack of content; the project was started back in 1996. It is now 2006. From what I've heard you have yet to finish a single chapter.

What is the deal with this project? Why has there been no progress? Why hype something that is nowhere near completion? I'd like to see some proof that this project has even gone past conceptual stages. Put up or shut up, that's the key.

General Discussion / I'm back!

Been a long couple of months, but I return with a fascination in all things Chrono.

Some interesting things have happened that some of you already know. First off, it turns out I'm not going to be a teen parent after all. The girl I knocked up accidentally had her friend stomp on her stomach, so she miscarried. To be honest, I don't care. Please don't offer condolences. It sounds rough and evil, but I have my reasons.

In any case, I see that Crimson Echoes has made some real progress, and I'd love to begin working with the team again, if our kind directors would allow it. ;3

So, hello all.

Computer failure. No OS backup. Something about anal rape.

All of you, keep it real. Z, keep up the excellent work on this sublime site. D: It's a morsel of pleasure to all. 'Cept Chronoshock. But they suck.

View the Wikipedia entry for Seth MacFarlane and Family Guy for a bit more info.

You should recognize a LOT of jokes used in the first three seasons, but I won't spoil 'em for you. (Unless ya ask. =P)

Crimson Echoes / Things to do. Now with slightly updated action!

UPDATE AS OF DDK SAYS SO: Hey, folks! DDK here, hijacking Exodus's thread! Hopefully, I can make good use of it!

1. Work on Chronopolis
~First and foremost, a volunteer is needed to create a futuristic tileset for Chronopolis. If you wish to volunteer to work on this, PM DDK or Jake, or you can contact DDK on AIM.
~We need the basic floor plans laid out.
~A Chronopolis overworld needs to be laid out. Again, contact either DDK or Jake.

2. Debugging
~If you've got skill with event editing (I'm looking at you, DDK (DDK: Gee, thanks. =P))  we'll need you to run through and correct errors in the code. We need someone who can run through and correct the maps.

If you want to help beta test the Colloseum, or have yet to check it out, go here: http://chronocompendium.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=1369

(If you've got something to add, Jake, feel free to do so.)

Crimson Echoes / So, where the hell are we going?
« on: September 04, 2005, 03:23:39 am »
What should we do?

Fix the demo, of course!

The basic train of thought running through my mind at the moment is to refine the demo to attract more people.

More talented people = better chances of actually succeeding.

We can't rely on a team of ten or fifteen people. We've gotta get larger, or this won't get anywhere.

So, I propose that the demo be enlarged, and take up a much longer span of time than five minutes.

I've already created some new areas, which I'll be uploading shortly.
