Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Cross's Hit % is a liar.
« on: February 06, 2012, 12:45:51 am »
Ive found that if you select a 2-stamina attack and it misses, it almost always misses again if you select the 2-stamina attack again. This happens far far more often than could possibly be coincidence. Often times, even the *third* will miss. Has anyone else noticed this? Because it really seems like a mistake.

Chrono Compendium Discussion / Broken Videos
« on: February 05, 2012, 02:09:01 am »
Theres a pretty large amount of video links that do not work, stating the associated account has been suspended. What should be done about this? Neither solution seems good - either erasing the video link, or attempt to upload them to youtube again (with potentially similar results)

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Greek Letters
« on: February 02, 2012, 07:38:32 pm »
I couldnt find anything touching on this in the manner I noticed, but if I missed it, my apologies.

Simply put: Ive noticed that a large amount of things actually have at least some resemblance to greek letters. I have no problem at all thinking this could all be coincidence. Either way, I think its neat to point out.

Omnicrone: Omicron
Ioka: Iota
Laruba: Lambda
Nu: Nu
Zeal: Zeta
Dalton: Delta

Im sure there are others. If I stretch it more than I feel comfortable with, I can get things like "Tata = Tau" or "Magus = Omega" but I'm not quite comfortable doing that one.

Anyway! I am certainly not set in stone about this idea. And if its just a coincidence, then its a really fun coincidence :D Like the 65000000 BC picture overlapped with El Nido. (It was seeing that that actually encouraged me to post this. I thought it would make me look silly, since all this is at least partially insane.)

If anyone has any more to add, that would be neat too!

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Chrono Cross FAQ/ Glenn
« on: April 28, 2011, 08:44:43 pm »
Im curious about the translation of this comment. "Chrono Cross Ultimania (a guide in Japan) states that Glenn from El Nido was named after Glenn of the Middle Ages, but this isn't validated anywhere in the actual game. "

Could this mean not that it was referencing an ingame event, but siimply stating that the designers made the character as an homage to Frog (which is clearly the case.)? Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but its the kind of translation difficulty/weirdness I see all the time --
For instance, with the new elder scrolls game, a poor translation of an italian magazine lead people to believe that you wouldnt be able to make your own spells at all. In reality it meant you cant combine Fire and ice to make Fireice, and it would work as normal in the other games with the two types applied in sequence.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Ayla's Name

I think it odd that Ayla would, without context, name the being Lavos. So, does her name mean "<something> Fire"?

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / To Cure them Is to Kill Them!
« on: April 07, 2011, 02:58:53 pm »
So I was in the Black Omen, generally tab (yes, theyre tabs, not capsules. My mind has decided this and im in no place to argue with it.) stealing with glee when I got to the third Mutant Boss. The one that does the syphon health thing. Well, I killed the top part, and then accidently gatling kicked the bottom half. This healed it, of course. That all makes sense.

However, it then immediatly died. Ive used phoenix downs to obliterate undead things, but i dont think ive ever actually restored somethings health to death before.

As added bonus, think about how insane my previous sentence would be in a world without video games. I love modern society.

By now, we all hate ourselves for not being able to figure out that the ridiculusly obscure method of deleting saves on SNES involved a second controller. So I'm hoping to take down this problem on the DS before the newgame + spectre remains permanent.

I found you can erase save files by shutting the game off mid-save, but this does not ever delete the new game plus option. Having just beaten the game, I noticed that at the very end, it asks you to save system data, and informs you that old will be overwritten...Followed by that same delay that lets you corrupt and erase your saves.

I just beat the game and do not wish to try this for obvious reasons, But I had an idea: Might shutting off the game during this system file save have the same effect as the save files, and become corrupted, thus deleting the new game + option (and all other system saves?) Since I just beat it im reluctant to try this on my own. So I ask, is anyone out there willing to take the chance and corrupt their saves for the glory of blank-slate Chrono Trigger?

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Fall of Guardia
« on: April 04, 2011, 11:56:56 pm »
While Im sure this has been talked about countless times, I had a theory about why Crono and friends didnt intervene: It was wrong. This fight (as far as they knew at least) was a fight between non magical human nations. The awesome power of Crono, Marle and Lucca would constitute a war crime in our world, if used in that situation. If they started trying to force events to a certain path by using their magical powers against the non-magical Porre armies, How would they be any different from Magus, or from Queen Zeal? Or even Lavos?

So, thats my idea. They didnt fight because it would have made them the same as the monsters they destroyed; people willing to dominate others, who cannot possibly fight back, through the corrupting power (magic) of Lavos. Where did they go, what did they do...This is beyond the knowledge presented in the games. But i doubt any of them couldve used their powers in good faith against a human army that was no more evil than any other army.

They are Good Guys, after all.
