Chrono Trigger Modification / Trying to make a hack, don't know where to start.
« on: November 10, 2007, 05:08:09 pm »
Hey, guys.
I'm starting to work on my final project for a digital art class I'm in, and the focus of it is supposed to be "interactivity." I've been thinking about it, and I want to use a video game format for the project. It would progress through three scenes/locations -- Millennial Fair, Ocean Palace or the Black Omen, and then either Keeper's Dome or parts of Geno Dome.
I'd want to hack the dialogue, and add in a character sprite to guide you along -- once you talk to that sprite, it starts up the story, leads you up to the the telepod and you get transported to the next place.
In the next portion, I'd want to add sprites and dialogue and go through a few screens, seeing more of the story. I'd then create another exit and have the player go through there to get to the last part.
For the last scene, they'd go through the story and then ideally would either be surrounded by robots, prompting the "game over" screen, or would just be destroyed by the mother brain.
...Is this possible at all? I've been playing around with RPGmaker and Temporal Flux and seem to be woefully inadequate at both. I also can't find "dialogue" in Temporal Flux -- it has everything else in the Strings section but that.
Any help is much appreciated. I really need to get started on this soon so I can find out early if it's not going to be possible.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Crono's Cat?
« on: April 24, 2005, 08:42:09 pm »
This is an idea I've been throwing around for years now, since one of my original times playing through the game. In a few different places, you'll notice that a plain looking cat just...comes in. In Ozzie's Fort in 600 AD, the cat comes in and flicks the switch that sends Ozzie plummeting to his doom. Or to his basement. Either way. Also, I believe that you also see the cat in either the Tyrano Lair or Giant's Claw. Something prehistoric related. I don't remember if the cat pops up anywhere else.
Well, I originally thought that person the cat could be the Entity (this was more jokingly thought, however) or a tool of the Entity. Since it has the same sprite as Crono's cat, I just kind of figured that it was.
Earlier today, while playing, though, another thought popped into my mind: If it is Crono's cat, could it possible be because of the ending in which Crono's cat jumps through a gate? (And then his mom, heh.) From that point, could his cat have wandered around through times, thereby effecting previous events?
Now, does anyone remember which gate Crono's cat jumped through in the ending? It was the last one, correct? Was the last one leading to 600 AD? Since I think it is the Giant's Claw where the cat pops up, that would make sense -- both that and Ozzie's fort are located in 600 AD.
What do you guys think? Plausible or not?
