What synthesizers did Mitsuda use for the Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross soundtracks? Did he ever say publicly what they were, as well as what brand(s) his acoustic instruments were (especially the bouzouki)? Uematsu might have used the same instruments for his contributions as well, or Mitsuda borrowed Uematsu's, who knows.

I remember hearing the clinking loop from CT 2300AD on a Yamaha (I think it was a lower-end keyboard like one of the PSS series), and the pipe hit echo loop from CC Chronopolis on another (might have been a higher-end Roland or even a Korg Triton).

This year, I'm playing my annual Chrono Trigger playthrough on the iOS version (simply for portability, as I don't have access to my DS and I dislike some of the DS additions anyways) and am starting from scratch as a result. I just got the Dactyl and before heading to Tyrano Lair am building TP for a couple more techs (especially Charm) by fighting Nus in the Hunting Range.

I've never found any document of what the order of the three spawn locations was for the Hunting Range Nus, but I do remember that it changes depending on how far in the game you progress. Does anyone here know how the game determines which location to spawn the Nu, especially if game progression affects it, and is it possible that it could have been changed for the iOS version?

Chrono Trigger Modification / Massive updated single-page CT memory map?
« on: November 27, 2015, 11:07:23 pm »
Is there an up-to-date single-page memory map (or even commented disassembly) for CT in one table somewhere? I'd like to play around and see what happens, and the Memory Map topic is a bit disjoint and seems out-of-date.

Kajar Laboratories / Font discovery: Niveau
« on: July 06, 2013, 03:27:12 pm »
Ladies and gentlemen, after years of searching I believe I have finally found a font that will be acceptable for use in remaking the word "CROSS" from the Chrono Cross logo:

I present Niveau Grotesk, specifically Bold (possibly Black). Not surprisingly, the same guy made a Serif Gothic-looking companion typeface, Niveau Serif, that can be used as a more than acceptable replacement for Serif Gothic when remaking the CC logo. It was released in 2013, hence the lack of existence until now.

Upon acquisition of this font, CC logo vectors should now be extremely possible. YOU'RE WELCOME :)

Kajar Laboratories / [non-Chrono] Secret of Mana SFX?
« on: August 01, 2012, 08:39:00 pm »
I know this place contains some great research into Chrono Trigger, including sound related stuff. I remember a while back someone (utunnels I think?) posted SPC dumps (rips?) of the sound effects in CT. Is there a way to make this happen w/Secret of Mana? If so, I'd like to please request it be done or be instructed in a (preferably easy) method to do it myself.

get it here! made using fontstruct in spare moments @ work.

214 theoretically usable characters are available, 4 of them being playstation button icons in place of lesser used "copyright" "yen" "multiply" and "generic currency" characters; best guess used where characters like "section" and "sz ligature" couldn't be sourced. based on the work @ moonstruck. trigger bold is provided under CC-NC-SA license.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / old ct us tv ad?
« on: November 25, 2008, 05:06:38 pm »
first, does anyone here remember the us commercial for snes chrono trigger? there was some kind of quick montage (presumably of scenes from the game), overlaid by a numerical countdown (or count-up? i think it went to 13). there may or may not have been a male japanese voiceover during the montage. after the montage, japanese guy says very passionately "kurono toriga!!!!" followed by some japanese (i was 10 at the time, so i thought it sounded like gibberish) which was subtitled "cool" and i thought to myself "that's a lot of stuff to say just to mean 'cool.'"

second, has anyone ever FOUND it for DL or other means of online/offline viewing? youtube DOESN'T have it, or if they do it's a COMPLETELY different name. and no, i'm NOT talking abt the japanese ct snes commercial, which IS available on youtube.

i've seen this ad a grand total of 8 times and after i bought the game in '95 never saw it again. keep in mind, this ad was made during the time of the american commercial for ff6, with mog the moogle as some HR guy interviewing monsters to "hire" for the new final fantasy.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / ct official song composer list?
« on: November 25, 2008, 05:00:16 pm »
is there anything that lists proper who composed what song(s) for chrono trigger? acc to wikipedia uematsu did 10 songs after mitsuda came down w/a stomach ulcer, and noriko matsueda's entry lists she did one song for ct, but neither says which songs were done by whom.

who composed what?

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / anyone else here hate the new dialogue font?
« on: November 25, 2008, 04:26:30 pm »
is it just me? do i really love the original "square chicago v3" (v1 is ff5, v2 is ff6) that much that i can't stand to see any other font used as the ctds dialogue font? seriously?

if anyone ever plans on hacking a ctds rom, can the restoration of the font (maybe even the system font) be one of the changes?
