General Discussion / Gather, all ye anime lovers
« on: December 05, 2006, 11:07:45 am »
So, has anyone heard of Death Note's anime release? Any watchers? Fans? Read the manga?

I, for one, am liking this anime so much. God, L and Light are two geniuses, and the show sure knows how to set up the mood-it's a great thriller.

General Discussion / May I ask for your opinion on a work of mine?
« on: September 18, 2006, 12:58:24 pm »
Well, I'm writing a story of mine, and have been somewhat uncertain on where to put. ZeaLitY suggested putting it here (as it's not Chrono fanfiction or anything of that effect) so here it is. I'd like to know what you think, so do reply with suggestions for imporvement or any other qualms you may have.

Prologue

"Well, kids, we're going to enter the museum," Said Mrs.Parker, teacher of class 10-A, "be careful not to touch anything. If you break anything, it'll come out of your pockets, and things around here aren't cheap." she glared at a group of boys meancingly, "That includes you." she hissed warningly.

The teacher then turned and said: "Everyone follow me in an orderly fashion."

The children followed the teacher, who was just greeted by a young man who worked by the muesum. He had short blonde hair and a very pointed face, and he seemed very tall and very skinny. He wore a casual blue T-shirt and a pair of jeans, with a name tag on his chest.

"Hello there, kids," said the man. "I'm Josh, your instructor for this short visit in the muesum. Now, if I'm not mistaken, this is not your first visit here?"

Several kids replied with a 'yes', to which Josh nodded.

"Very well, so today we'll be going to the eastern wing of the museum." Josh continued, "We'll be seeing quite a few treasures from the Middle and Far East, which we have quite a few relics of, dating back to what we believe is as far as the Battle of Jericho. We will split to two groups, one group will go with me and the other will stay with the teacher and wait for the other instructor who will return shortly."

The teacher pulled a name list from her bag and drew a line with her pen after the 18th student.

"The ones who are above the line are your group," Said Mrs.Parker, handing the name list to the instructor, "be sure to check everyone's here... Ah, mark out the one who's number eleven in the list, he didn't show up today.."

Josh nodded and crossed out the name.

"We should be done with this part of the tour in about an hour," Josh said, "and we'll meet back here for lunch."

"Alright," The teacher nodded and turned to lead her students out.

Josh called to his group of students: "Okay, everyone in the list until Luther, David please follow me."

Seventeen of the sudents gathered around Josh who led them out. They walked slowly down the halls for a few minutes until Josh stopped in front of a pair of large white steel doors.

"This is the Middle-East exhibit." Josh said, turning to face the students. "We'll be seeing many items that were found in Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, among many others. The security here is very delicate, so try not to touch anything. Also, keep in mind there are other visitors here, so please try to be quiet."

Some of the students nodded in agreement and Josh pushed the doors opened. The children walked into the large room beyond the doors, and saw many exhibitions surrounded glass cases around them. Floruscent lamps lighted the room brightly, and the walls were painted a brown-red, and the smooth floor was colored blue. Josh walked to one of the cases and told the students,

"If you could turn your attention here, you'll see a few spears that came from Babylon. They originiate back to around the sixth century B.C., and have been very well preserved, so they look almost like they did originally, give or take cracks and other cosmetic matters."

The kids glanced at the spears for a few moments, some of them with awe, and Josh moved onwards to another item protected by a glass case. It was a blue gemstone covered by red, sharp-looking crystals.

"This is a fairly new article here in the muesum," Josh said, and gestured towards the stone. "we only got it a few months ago, and we're pleased to have it here. It's passed quite a few hands, and is very valuable. This stone was found in the Dead Sea in Israel a few years ago, due to the falling of the sea level because of a very hot few years in Israel. It was discovered in a natural cave, and the red crystliazation is said to have been formed by the many salts in the Dead Sea."

The students looked with intrest at the stone, at how the light reflected through the jewels. Among these was Tobias Zaiben, who looked just as chramed as his classmates. But the more he looked, the warmer it seemed to get in the museum, and Tobias wondered if the air conditioning in the place had failed. Then came the tingling feeling in his fingers, which spread throughout his body rapidly, like a bad rash. Tobias flexed every muscle he could, hoping it would make the uncomfortable feeling go away, but the flexing made it worse, he realized a moment later-a sharp pain shot through him, as if his head was being split apart.
As the boy collapsed to the floor, moaning with pain, a few of the children gasped in shock, while Josh grabbed the boy by his shoulders and examined him.

"He's... sweating." He said, and looked at the boy's quivering eyelids. "Like... a bad dream."

The boy gasped and turned, and then, despite all he could hear a moment ago was a painful hum in his ears, he heard something clearly, very clearly:

an animalistic howl, breaking apart clouds and winds, on the fifth day of creation.

General Discussion / Disney Create Paradoxes
« on: August 24, 2006, 03:28:48 pm »
It's a well known fact that mermen and mermaids are fish. However, a certain mermaid called Ariel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Kingdom_Hearts_Ariel.jpg, has both a navel and breasts. A navel is a scar formed by the cutting of the umblical cord, and only mammles are connected to their mothers by umblical cords, and breasts are mammle-reserved organs. So, if we put aside the fact Disney wanted to make Ariel more recognizable to viewers, how should I see this? Stupidity? Carelessness? Or maybe they define mermaids in a different way?

General Discussion / You know those days when it all goes to hell?
« on: August 11, 2006, 10:49:58 am »
I've had a really great night, with lots of great dreams. Waking up, however, marked this day as a VERY, VERY bad day.

For starters, I woke up with hunger, but with no actual desire to eat. I've had a stomach ache that lasts to this moment, and I was very tired regardless. Then I went up to check my computer (I was downloading KOTOR2) and found it had rebooted during the night, i.e., updated Windows. The download had completed, but Windows Update found my version was illegal and seemingly put a virus on my system, forcing me to reinstall Windows.

Trying to reinstall Windows proved to be a 40 minute ordeal, which ended up with Windows infroming me, upon installing my Audio Driver, that the Kernel is corrupted, forcing me to reinstall AGAIN.

Well, I had to go get an haircut, so I let my sister handle this time. But, when I got back, I downloaded a Driver from nVidia's site. The installation got messed up, and messed up my video ENTIRELY. I could only see a mouse in a black background. So I reinstalled AGAIN. For the THIRD time in FOUR hours.

Well, at least I got a relaxing walk while I waited for my dad and uncle to get their haircut. Got some fresh air. Except that big ball of fire in the sky was pestering me. IT BURNS.

Except for the grim reality of the war, I hope the other half of the day will be better.

General Discussion / A question for all you Anime fans

I should ask, what is your opinions on Neon Genesis Evangelion (And End of Evaneglion, if you will), oh ye Anime fans?

Feel free to give your opinions, but do not flame or bash the anime. Also, if you've only heard of it, what were you told?

While I'm sure the actual connections between the Chrono Dead Sea and the Real world Dead Sea have been much discussed. However, being the closest Forum member to the actual Dead Sea, I feel I should share more knowledge, so you can add it to general knowledge. This is more trivia and comparison.

The idea that no life can live in the Dead Sea is false-As it turns out, some fungui and microscopic lifeforms inhabit the Dead Sea. Also, it is impossible to drown in the Dead Sea-like the Chrono Dead Sea, where you cannot sink into the water, though to it being frozen in time. The most well-known fact is that it's the lowest place on earth. The Dead Sea, being full of many different salts, produces certain substances which are a natural treasure-muds and such, which are very helpful to the skin, and are selled as cosmetics. The Dead Sea, as such, is known to contain a treasure, many benefical substances This is comparable to the Dead Sea in the Chronoverse, which contains a treasure of it's own, The Frozen Flame.

General Discussion / The Liberation of Schala Video on YouTube
« on: May 21, 2006, 01:46:39 pm »
As it turns out, YouTube seems to have a recorded version of Schala's liberation from the Time Devourer in the end of Chrono Cross. I've always found it to be a really cool video, hence I'm glad to have found it, and I'm sure other Chrono fans who wish to, but have not yet played Cross and are simply DYING to see Schala in CC, and the TD itself, as well as her liberation as well. Well, now they can watch it and more or less realize how it really was.

Now, I'm aware the video and sound qualities aren't that good. But, the framerate is decent and the music isn't too bad. So, here it is.

Frog's Sidequest provides with the option of encountering Cyrus' spirit in two forms- One of an angry ghost, and the other of a calmed spirit.

Now, I've never really bothered to check it out, but is there any way to actually beat it? I'm not certain there is. Obviously, it haunts it's burial place, like all spirits though.. But what are it's properties? How strong and weak is it, etc. etc.

Then we have Cyrus' calmed form. He leaves the world after giving his last words to Frog, and allows Frog to be clean of guilt, making him one of your finest warriors.

Now, I'd like us to discuss how the undead are portrayed and come into being here.

As it seems, ghosts haunt places due to their negative feelings and sentiments. Garai's anger and sorrow transformed the Island of the Damned into a place the Addams Family would call a tropical getaway. Cyrus manages to maintain a spectral form in the world of a living and become one heck of a boss. There are skeletons on the Ghost Ship and the Isle of the Damned, as well as in Magus' fort. Ozzie has shown skill in necromancy on Zenan Bridge, but I'm really uncertain where that could lead us.

Anything to add, comment or expand upon?

So while working on my stories, I got what I think was the weirdest muse I've ever, EVER gotten. I've told a couple of my friends about it. One of them said that I'm potenetially psychotic. So yeah, tell me if it's TOO insane. It's a few theories, regarding the universe featured in 'Soun of the Enchanted', my story.

Theory Number 1: World\Universal Mass-The anchor to the world

Several billions of years prior to the events of Soun, God (named Kadush in my story... Again, kudos to all who know what the word's meaning in Hebrew) formed the universe. At first the world was a gathering of energy that filled an empty void. Later on he locked the energy in small units with a positive core (Atoms), and thus Mass was formed. In order to allow smaller things to exist with a more solid form, Kadush created a force called World or Universal Mass. World Mass is what one links one to the universe (In more complex terms, Dimension). A World Mass is permenent and cannot be changed. Living things, being capable to manipulate materials to form energy, have heavier World Mass then other objects.

Theory Number 2: The WoMLitch effect= When two become three...

As stated above, a World Mass is unchangable except for one way. When two World Masses collide, a struggle is formed. Such a struggle does necesarrily point towards aggression=Such a struggle could be a body being hit by massive energy (Deflection from explosions). When a struggle presists and a third World mass joins in the middle, the third World Mass becomes severed and is torn into two entities, both being the same matter. If it is a living thing, he will retain all memories and personality traits he had before the original was severed. The two halves are then sent in opposite energies, each of them being caught by one of the two conflicting World Masses. When the conflict ends with One WM 'losing', the World Mass is destroyed, and the copy of the original Third Mass is warped into a place that can only be described as 'A mistake'. The winning WM then loses grip of the third WM and returns to it's regular behavior. The third WM that remains then falls into a coma, due to mental damage caused by the severing. At times, one developes certain mental abilites during his comatose stage.
After awakening from the Coma, the WM goes about it's life as if the severing never happaned. It can be severed as well, and the effect can repeat itself to a single WM to infinity.

Theory Number 3- WoMLich Void, a space that doesn't exist

The place where WM that has interfered in a conflict is sent to is called WoMLich Void (World Mass Glitchvoid), and can be interpreted as a place that doesn't exist. It was not created as part of Kadush's grand design, formed only several thousands years after the universe was formed, and formed soley due the massive energies of many conflicts that went about unintened, which caused people to 'split into two'. Due to the increased nerval activity formed by WoMLich effect, it's been theorised that it might of had a hand in the evolution of the brain for many races in many worlds. Kadush is aware of WoMLich void, but seeing as he viewed badly of the Splitting effect, he reffers to WoMLich as a wastedump formed naturally, and hence does not interfere with it's existence.

WoMLich Void is a place where nothing remains consistent, as it's built of bits and pieces of real things that have lost form in the 'real' world. The laws of physics vary there, at times certain laws taking effect, at times others and at times none at all. The matter within it is also incostitant. Though much matter 'exists' inside WoMLich, only little of it is actually visible. At times, certain things disappear and other things appear. At times they simply disapper or simply appear. Due to wars being a major causer of WoMLich effects, many bits of cities are sent over to WoMLich. As such, it can be viewed as a sort of nonexistant 'dead' city. (No, it is NOT derived from the Dead Sea and\or the Tesseract. It's derived from something else, much more amusing. Ask me personally, if you're intrested).

Matter within WoMLich loses all of it's former 'real world' properties. Metals can transform immediatly into gas, then back into metals and then into another, totally non-metalic material.

WoMLich Void is home to non-living World Masses (Light World Masses).

Theory Number 4: WoMLich Entity - A thing that is everything and nothing

When Living World Masses are transported into WoMLich Void, they are found to be too heavy to be contained by that void. They are then condensed and added into an entity, called WoMLich entity (Full name: Heavy World Mass Glitch containment entity). WoMLich entity is NOT A LIVING BEING by at all. It does not have genetic material, does not have any organs and does not require to process materials for energy. Rather, every WM added into it supplies it with a massive amount of energy. It does not require oxygen, food or water to survive and is incapable of breeding.

It's often described as a 'Moving inconsistency'. Like WoMLich Void, it isn't consistent and certain parts of it may or may not appear at a given moment. The voices it makes, it's appearence, way of movement and even way of thought are incosistent (At times it is docile, at times aggresive, at times friendly). The rate in which he changes himself is unclear as well-perhaps even that is inconsistant. Wether is is sentient or not is unknown, or, if it is, what view does he have over it's role in WoMLich, that of a ruler, protector or part of the actual location.

WoMLich entity is home to living World Masses (Heavy World Masses).

_________

That's it... Opinions?

General Discussion / Nothing short of terrible
« on: April 12, 2006, 04:26:16 pm »
Now, I'm not too deep into WoW. It's still early in the process of devouring my brain. But this is just horrible and chaotic.

A member of a certain guild in WoW died in real life. His guild-mates, greatly saddened by the news, organized a funeral where all the members of the guild can pay their respects.

I would be touched to have such friends, but enraged to have the enemies the deceased had. Members of an opposing guild ran in, crashed the funeral and killed all who attended it. In response, the gaming community was outraged and displayed great hatred towards the perpetrators. Much flaming was abound, and the guild earned itself a Mark of Kane of sorts- I somehow doubt it still exists.

General Discussion / Israeli-Palestinian conflict
« on: April 07, 2006, 04:23:01 pm »
I've had a chat with BZ lately, so it's been on my mind for a bit. Just wanted to see what the majority think. For the record: you can take my opinion as 100% biased. Also, note I'm not an Arab-hating Israeli... But at times, anger gets the best of me, and another solution other than kicking them the hell out isn't in sight.
