IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS FOR THE TV SHOW LOST, LEAVE NOW.

LEAVE...  :o

My theory is that LOST is a sequel to Chrono Cross, completing the Triology. CT->CC->LOST.

Here is my half-done theorizing;

Lost is a sequel to Chrono Cross.

   •   The LOST archipelago is the last remaining fragment of El Nido/Chronopolis in the merged timeline (assuming from the Chrono Cross Ending with Schala/Kid walking around in our real life, that the merged timeline is akin to our own reality/history in real life, the aggregate of all timelines).
   •   Jacob is “the Entity” (white innate), and the drinking water ceremony Hurley/Jack/Walt go through dictates the new Entity that protects the planet from Lavos. (Aka Schala’s role reincarnate). Jacob touches candidates to succeed him, essentially making them arbiters like Serge (promethus circuit hangover). Jacob can use actual magic too, presumably the only human who can in this new dimension as he exists closely with Lavos energy (others, like Richard Alpert, have been effected by that magic).
    •   The Golden Light is the last remaining Lavos Energy (maybe even a mammon machine or a Frozen Flame fragment?).
   •   The man in black (black innate) gets turned into the Black Smoke by contact with The Golden Light as the “last will of lavos”, with the ability to dopplegang the dead (similar to how Wazuki was able to swap bodies with Serge), and absorb information records of peoples lives/personalities/experiences (as the black smoke is partly formed from the remains of FATE and the prometheus circuit, it is half-Lavos, half-technology). It doesn’t have the extensive history records Fate had, but it is collecting and building it, seemingly explaining why the Black Smoke wants to leave the island: to gather data on everyone on the planet, in order to turn the planet into a controlled El Nido and fulfil Lavos’ will.

It explains why the Island can time travel… the whispers could be talk from other dimensions. I love this theory I’ve made as so many things seem to fit so perfectly.

Note, as a lifelong CT fantatic (18 years of CT fandom, 6-24 yo), I have only just got the full Chrono Cross story, so I'm excitedly thinking through all the information I've just learnt from CC!

General Discussion / Chrono Trigger: Brink Of Time, where to purchase?
« on: January 16, 2010, 09:43:56 am »
Hey, I know I havent posted in ages...

I was just wondering where one could purchase Yasunori's godlike Trigger arrangements? Been listening on youtube and they are immence! I want CD quality and that tasty breakfast artwork!

On a side note to give this thread some disscussion... what can you see in that album cover? I can see the two leaves as Frog's outline, and I kinda get the bacon and eggs as Chrono's face... but is their anything more in there?

Ta! Discuss!

So, I was about 8 when my gaming fanatical dad imported chrono trigger to play (being in England, of course, no one else knows about it, till now). In the playground I would pretend to play it, it was a great father/son (sun of the son as the puns would be based on) bonding activety, sparked my soul and I found my passion in life out of it: music. (Although Im a britpop/mod songwriter, see Ocean Colour Scene, The Verve, Oasis, Stereophonics, Paul Weller etc).

All these years later... and Chrono Trigger DS comes. After enjoying the amazing intro I had never seen before (Im not an anime fan at all, but wow its awesome! They need to get them back together to at least make more scenes like those!) I settled in for a ride. A ride Im taking my time with, absorbing every moment and loving. You must know, as your reading a Chrono Forum, how the game becomes so much more, jumps out and exsists with you... yakno?

And playing through now, the story makes so much more sense to me. I was worried, yousee, that my rosetinted memorys would show the game to age. On the contary, even in my hyperbolic descriptions of the game to my mates in the playground, I was not expecting the amount of chills down my spine, moments of amazement, actually laughing out loud and being on the emotional rollercoster to be as good as it was: but its better and better. Chrono has just died from lavos, and Im in the proccess of getting him back ATM. 17 hours in. What drives me? I still have never seen any of the endings... except the bad one! Never have yet defeated Lavos in all these years, and so the adventure is still going for me.

The first thing I did upon starting the game was change straight to classic mode and change run to hold in a to run. Ahhhh, right at home. Being portable I think really, really suits the game, having it physically closer to you allows you to become even more absorbed.

Story notes that are new to me so far;
1. I had forgotten how important the three gurus were, and antiquity in general. Gaspar only vaguely remembering being the Guru of Time, not much unlike Obi Wan if I might add, gives me the idea that the End Of Time is not specific to that planet but the universe itself, hence why the "other travellers" are mentioned. Gives way to me imagining a CT MMO, set on another large planet with a lavos inside of it, using an instanced End Of Time and Gaspar/Spekkio as your home place, with time portals you can move and an epic story adventure alongside the usual perks of an mmo. Maybe? Or am I being foolish?

2. Lord Janus. Wow, didnt remember him being Magus and that full circle adventure occuring! I wonder why he doesnt remember the prophet? well, its never revealed and hes probably such a young boy anyway... but then again, he remembers Lavos. Also, appearing to Ozzie like that, I wonder how he talked himself into being the Feinlord and reining supreme whilst the whole time using them as a means to get back at lavos and not really being bothered about them? Also, I had forgotten that magus stands away from the rest of the chars in the end of time: becuase in my save file, I (Frog) defeated him, especially with his Chrono put downs! My Dads save file had Magus on it, so I do vaguely remember. Also, interesting how magus goes somehting like "the moment you stop being useful to me, I shall be rid of you", cheeky monkey!

3. Azala, the end of the reptites. My observation back then was, hang on a cotten darn picking minute, they have stairs and stuff! Proper built castles! A better made civilisation than Humans of the time! But then, was it just a precursor to the Kingdom of Zeal and the mistakes Humans would also make but eventually fix? And I had forgotten how much ones heart drops when you speak to one of the cave guys and he goes something like "brr, ever since the star fell its been getting colder"... you feel so much for them!

Other observations:

1. Site 16? SITE 16? Its Lab 16! Potion? POTION?? its Tonic! Pancea??? what the? its Heal!! Anthenian Water? whatever happened to Revive! Actually, I dont mind at all, some of those names work just as well. But whta, is it a re-translation or something?

2. Bestiary and Jukebox: outstanding! Especially the jukebox, as even tho I have the OST its lush hearing it from there in full. As I hear each tune from my childhood again, I get more and more tingles. Me and my Dad humming Mellenia Fair like we have done as I have grown up everywhere we go, once again singing along to it; awesome. Gato, Corridors of Time (love playing that on piano, energetic!) Frogs theme and of course Secret of The Forest and At The Bottom of Night, brill!

NOTE: I will leave this like this for now, and as I go I will edit in more parts of my CT adventures. :)
