Fan Fiction / Crimson Echoes - The Novelization
« on: September 28, 2009, 10:37:10 am »
Hello all!

Yes, it's true! There is a novelization of the game-that-almost-was, or rather would-have-been-the-best-game-out-there! As ZeaLitY posted in a previous update, I have taken on the task of writing the novelization, and the current five chapters can be found at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5272474/1/. I used RealPlayer to download all the videos, so there's no problem with finishing it by myself...however...

My hope is that you all will help me by giving your viewpoints on what's been done so far, as well as suggest paths for the future. I have created a small forum board to help coordinate making the novelization the best it can be. This board can be found at http://crimsonechoes.freeforums.org/index.php.

Now, I know you are probably saying "I barely have time to check the Compendium's forums let alone another!" If you are interested, feel free to sign up over there, and we can start the reviews and suggestions as soon as you guys want to jump in. The forums are designed to help the novelization along, with such features as discussion on the chapters so far (anyone who is involved there will see the chapter after one of the directors of the game has reviewed it but before it gets posted to the fanfiction site so you can give your honest opinion on it), an entire section devoted to upcoming chapters (so you can discuss what should be included, especially in background scenes that aren't viewed through the walkthrough videos), and general discussions that don't fall into the above topics. It's really geared towards turning Crimson Echoes into a great novel.

Feel free to discuss what you've read in more detail there, or even here if you aren't certain about joining a new forum board. Help me make this a novelization to do a great game justice!

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Activation of the very first gate
« on: March 19, 2009, 03:45:11 pm »
Okay, so the reason the first gate opens is due to a reaction to the pendant, correct? Marle has the pendant around her neck, and because she's not really paying attention, she gets sucked into the gate while dropping the pendant. Okay, good so far.

Crono grabs the pendant, and holds onto it, allowing him to use the gate. He still has the pendant as he goes through the gate.

So, how the heck did Lucca "follow"? She has no access to the Pendant when the Gate sending Crono back closes. So, how does she activate the gate?

The only possibly explanation I can think of is that when Marle dropped the pendant, it chipped and Lucca used the chip to create the gate key.

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Dimension Split, or Dimension Duplication
« on: February 16, 2009, 03:23:35 pm »
Here's something I've been wondering about. It's been stated that multiple dimension co-exist in a manner of speaking, that is to say that the Radical Dreamers dimension existed at the same time as those where Chrono Cross takes place. The RD dimension was not sent to the DBT, but here's where I ask my question.

Was the dimension split? Or when Kid saved Serge did the dimension duplicate itself and then that change was made? I may not have worded that right, but I think you'll get what I mean. Shouldn't the fact that it's a completely separate dimension also solve the problem of why Another World wasn't sent to the DBT when Home World was brought into existence?

Or perhaps it's something like the Pocket Universe from Donnie Darko. You know...where time utilizes a branched off universe which has the same history to a point, at which the branching universe is only utilized in order to stabilize the first. So Home World was created in order to stabilize Another World, which of course meant that Serge would not have existed, but that's a separate point. Just something to possibly think about.

Fusing of the dimensions at the end of the game by Schala might also account for the fact that there would be differences from the original Another World.

Thoughts?
