General Discussion / Meetup at PAX Prime 2011???
« on: August 07, 2011, 09:32:08 pm »
Just curious to know if any of our members will be attending PAX prime at the end of this month. And if so, would it at all be possible for there to be a little meetup? Even if it ends up just being 3 people, it would still be nice for it to happen. Plus, I'd have a good reason towards bringing my ghetto-ish* Prince Janus cosplay with me (was having a hard time deciding between doing him and doing Super Mario; a friend of mine told me that Mario would be better because of recognizability, but I'm still wanting to do both for the sake of my passion for CT).

((* = It looks more like a dress than a poncho, and the collar is a bit more like Schala's than that of Janus; which of course has resulted in some people mistaking me for her while wearing it...))

So... any fellow compendium-ites attending the convention?!

General Discussion / Did anyone know about this???
« on: February 24, 2011, 02:22:33 am »
If this information is intended for a different forum, I am unsure as to where it should go.

But, seriously folks - WE NEED TO VOTE FOR CHRONO TRIGGER IN THIS!

The Smithsonian Institute is doing something involving videogames, and Chrono Trigger is one of the games nominated to represent the Super NES for the 16-bit era of gaming... Here's the site for it: http://www.artofvideogames.org/

Welcome / Birthday / Seeya! Forum / Feelin' like an old fart...
« on: February 11, 2011, 12:37:01 am »
Today I turn 32. May not seem that old to some, but to me it feels like I'm some kind of an old lady. Especially when I remember how much my body hates me (always have pain in my feet, legs, and back), and of how many friends of mine are way younger than me (the majority of my buds are under ther age of 24). So glad that they don't give a reptite's ass about what age I am, though.

Having a fun party (with cosplay, too) on Saturday at the convention center (for those of you who live in Washington state, it's where they have SakuraCon and PAX each year; and if any of you guys want to come, go ahead! It'll be on the 2nd floor in the area next to the escalators and looking out over 7th avenue). And if any good photos get taken, I'll be sure to share them with you guys. <3

General Discussion / Cosplay FTW!
« on: December 08, 2010, 03:31:25 am »
Took me a month to get around to this, but oh well... been busy and other lame stuff.

I have yet to get the really good photos of this that a friend took, but until then, I found another one to appease you all until I get a hold of those (which hopefully will be in the next week or so). Sorry if it looks odd, but it was so dark that I tried to lighten it somewhat. *sigh*

The day Prince Janus & Alfador met the legendary Robert Axelrod

(and yes, I know the collar doesn't look that accurate; but my best bud who helped with the costume couldn't figure out how to get it like the real thing without totally ruining it and we had to settle for something akin to Schala's collar; and yes, one dork at AkiCon did think I was Schala when he came to complement the costume and my cat... argh...)

General Discussion / A permanent cosplay topic?
« on: September 12, 2010, 11:14:34 pm »
I'm curious to know if it could be at all possible to have a big permanent topic for discussing cosplay from Chrono Trigger, Radical Dreamers, and Chrono Cross. Whether it be our own awesome creations, or seriously epic and authentic ones we've found pics of online.

And I'm pleased as ever with the good news I got this morning - I'm joyfully now %50 done with my prince Janus costume that I and a close friend have been working on. All that remains to complete on it is to sew together the fabric for the costume itself, buy a pair of elf shoes that we found online, and cover the shoes with what's left of fabric from the costume. Still could use some grey-blue contact lenses, but that could be purchased later... just need to get the main bulk of it all finished and awesome before worrying about little details like that. LOL, funny I say that, since I went to the trouble of getting a purple cat plushie that meows 3 times when you squeeze it - going to use a dark purple fabric pen to make it look like Alfador.

And in future plans, I am thinking of trying to cosplay as NeoFio for the sake of a big Chrono Cross cosplay group that a friend of mine is planning to form (so far only have 3 other people interested, and he's been having issues arguing with this other friend of ours over who will cosplay as Serge... jeez...).

General Discussion / A little surprise that's a WIP...
« on: June 10, 2010, 02:52:10 am »
So... The other day I picked up a copy of Soul Calibur 4. Been wanting it for a while, but one thing that made me seriously pursue getting it was that my brother discovered online that people have been using its character creator to do some epic stuff. By that, I mean trying to put other beloved game characters into the game somehow with the myriad of unlockable items that're in the game. My sister was certainly overjoyed in getting the game, being quite learned in doing this, having made on her b/f's savegame her own variation of Noel from BlazBlue (calls her Noabelle).

My sister might not have unlocked everything, but oh shit... with what she managed to get in 2 days, tonight she did something AWESOME - create a badass (and sexy) katana-wielder who LOOKS LIKE CRONO!

Not sure when we'll be able to do it, but we plan to take a good photo of him and then video footage (Because any character you create can be inserted into a battle movie; let's just say that I nearly jizzed my pants when I saw Crono appear, wielding the original Soul Calibur sword. It may be a pretty big sword for him to wield, but just being able to have him in a movie scene like that is thrilling.). Bwa ha... and my sister aims to create an SC version of Magus once she acquires better items to use (already got him started, with an epic scythe/voice bits taken from the character Zasalamel).

General Discussion / SakuraCon 2010 - Anyone going???!
« on: March 12, 2010, 03:11:21 am »
Curious to know if anyone at all on these fine forums will be attending SakuraCon this year.

If so, I'd like to know in order to get a chance to have a little gathering or at least meet up.

I shall proudly be attending all 3 days (4 if you count badge pickup on April 1st), and would seriously love to run into anyone from here if they're attending... Oh, and here is a list of what cosplay costumes I'll be wearing and on what days =

Pre-Reg/Badge Pickup night: Pokemon Fisherman Girl
Friday, April 2nd: "Rokumon" the shinigami cat (Kyokai no Rin-ne)
Saturday, April 3rd: 'Konoha Gakuen' version of Choji Akimichi (Naruto: Shippuden)
Sunday, April 4th: Maximillion J. Pegasus (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

(Rather a bummer, but I planned to also cosplay as a gijinka-ish version of Boota from Gurren Lagann; couldn't find all I needed for it to be done in time for SC, but hopefully I can find the rest in a month or so and get it done over the summer to wear at other cosplay events I'll be attending. Same thing goes with another epic costume in the works - to be young Janus from Chrono Trigger!)

General Discussion / Anyone going to SakuraCon 2010?
« on: October 09, 2009, 12:59:27 am »
Since the meetup at PAX seemed to go well (still depressed I missed out on it), it might be awesome to do a gathering of any compendiumites who'll be attending SakuraCon next year.

For one thing, it might rock if it could be part of the Chrono Trigger/Cross photoshoot (namely because I fear that only a few cosplayers will show up for it, so having some fellow fans around to hang out might make it even cooler, etc.). Btw, I am proudly in charge of that photoshoot, and if my plans work out soon (financially speaking), I will be able to cosplay as Janus. Also going to bug my friend Kim to attend in her Queen Zeal costume... mwa ha ha...

General Discussion / Facebook CC group?!
« on: September 30, 2009, 12:19:55 am »
I'm wondering how many folks here at CC are members of Facebook.

If there's a decent amount, I was thinking of starting up a group page!

Wow. I have officially left being 'in my twenties' and been ushered into 'middle age'.

Kinda great, kinda not, but the one thing that's remained true - my love for Chrono Trigger.

So fellow members of the compendium, I proudly celebrate my 30th birthday.  8)

General Discussion / Rises from the dead...

Jeez. I am truly full of epic fail for how little I come to this site. *hangs head in shame*

Anyways, I'm back again... and hopefully this time I'll visit more often.

Problem is, only peeps I'm familiar with around here are Z and buds from OotBW (R.I.P. *sniff*). I feel so dorky right now for not keeping touch. Ugh.

Good news to report: The "Chrono Trigger Haven" guild over at Gaia Online is doing okay. Need to give some of its members a kick in the butt to get active again, but it's not a serious issue. Also planning an epic roleplay story to do over there, and who knows... might do an 'echo' of it over here. Mwa ha ha.

General Discussion / Kara's little update...
« on: March 15, 2008, 03:29:39 am »
Well, since I haven't been posting here in sooo long, I figured that I'd give a little update on some stuff that's been going on in my life lately.

1. A friend at my job came forward to admit that he's had the hots for me ever since I started to work at BK. Sadly, I turned him down (because I've never had interest in him more than merely being a best friend, and a few other personal reasons). At least he's happy just being a good friend.

2. I got severely sick and was nearly hospitalized for it (let's just say the whole nightmare started with throwing up blood; still don't know what made me so sick, either... rather unsettling and I'm still not "back to my regular self"...). Also missed out on 3 days of work, and thus got a crappy paycheck (which already sucks since I only make minimum wage).

3. I'm currently working my ass off to get ready for "SakuraCon 2008" (at the end of this month) with some last-minute costume stuff and the like (such as hopefully getting a long pink wig for the costume I'm wearing on the last day of the con... otherwise I'll be doing a 'realistic hair' version of the character).

General Discussion / 'Taps' has been played for OBW
« on: February 05, 2008, 11:30:31 pm »
Well, it looks like we might have to consider "Order of the Black Wind" to be a dead site. Still online, still has cool stuff on it, but... I've been EXTREMELY unsuccessful in getting ahold of its owner to make a deal for getting ownership. Also, no one goes to the message board anymore except for me and Captain B (& the member Jacques Strappe). It's really depressing for me since I was there for its conception and birth, and for a long while it was one of the coolest sites that I've ever frequented. Ugh... if only it wasn't so impossible to contact the site's creator/owner. I think the email address that she put on the site is a dead address, too. *hangs head in sorrow*

General Discussion / Christmas Loot!
« on: December 26, 2007, 09:26:55 pm »
I wish that I'd gotten some gift cards (like to Borders Books), but it's no big whoop since I did get some pretty decent stuff.

-Two pairs of black pants (one I can wear to work, and a really nice one for special occasions)
-Beige tunic top with brown embroidery around the neck
-Black blouse with sparkly beads adorning the neck & a piece of white fabric in the neck that simulates wearing a shirt underneath
-Set of 3 Christmas earrings (silver bells, sparkly red & white presents, and sparkly white Christmas trees)
-Silver necklace with an Oriental dragon pendant
-Large & ornate Japanese wooden jewelry box (with reproduction of part of a scroll on front & ancient kanji on the top; lined with a brown velvet-like material. Seriously looks like it's some kind of mystic relic from a shrine)
-An MP3 player (also plays WMA files... awesome for me, since that's most of my collection of Two-Mix's music)
-A mini cordless speaker to use with my MP3 player (plugs right into the headphone port)
-The epic (& very large) book called "Manga: 60 Years of Japanese Comics" by Paul Gravett

(Note: The aforementioned book has been something that I've been wanting A LONG WHILE, and it was the most awesome surprise I got yesturday - it actually made me yelp in delight)

Also, my dad officially made his old Nintendo DS belong to me, by wrapping it up along with a nice new carrying case that he bought to go along with it. Interesting way to make it not entirely be a "used" gift. I had fun changing the screen color scheme and the username.

And finally, I'd like to add all of the gifts that were given to me earlier this month =

-Pokémon Emerald
-Pokémon Fire-Red
-A highly detailed Pokémon Diamond/Pearl figurine of an Infernape
-Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess figurines (extremely high details... especially on Zant's mask/clothes)

Kajar Laboratories / Turn "Adventures in Medina" into a fan comic?
« on: December 13, 2007, 01:07:06 am »
In lieu of the recent languishing of OBW, the matter of what to do with my major collab story/roleplay that I did there which was known as "Adventures in Medina". It got most of its stuff from CT, with a few creative bits borrowed from CC (thanks in part to one of my buds involved; personally, I dislike Chrono Cross).

Sadly, due to loss of creativity (and being busy with lame real-life crap), those involved stopped working on it (and as much as I'd love to boost interest in it again by posting, I was the last one to post... and double-posting is dumb).

So, I'm wondering if perhaps I should try to finish it on my own or get those involved to step up, etc.

I've toyed with a few ideas, and I'm open to suggestions... Best Idea: fan comic (but I can't do it; I suck at manga)
