Chrono Cross Modification / Chrono Cross 2D remakes?

Has there ever been any sort of serious consideration or work attempted on a 2D remake of Chrono Cross? I would love to watch something like that progress.

Hi there,
I hope that this is the appropriate forum for this post, as well as I hope this is not one of those topics where everyone goes, "Oh lord, not CC2D again!!!11!11" I apologize if so.
I was wondering if anyone had every made a serious effort to hack a 2D version of Chrono Cross, using Chrono Trigger-style gameplay and graphics? I know there was talk at one time of demiforce doing a remake, but that seems to have died a long time ago. Just curious.

Chrono Compendium Discussion / Retranslation

Is the Chrono Trigger Retranslation Project going to be an actual patch for the ROM, or is simply just going to be a text file to be read as you play the game (ala the old Shining Force 3 translations)?
