General Discussion / Dwarf Fortress

Dwarf Fortress

This is one of the most addicting games I have found to date. It is ascii, and has a really steep learning curve, but once you pass that, it feels better to play than any 3D rts.

You set up your "fortress" however you want, but you need to have your dwarves gather wood, build beds, doors and other furniture, mine, farm, enlist in the military, etc... This game is more complex than anything I have ever seen, and it manages to get it all together in a fun way.

The game is programed by a single guy, and is always being updated, with developments being shown on the website.

You can get it with these graphics, but it isn't at the very latest version.

The game generates worlds like the one below, with about 36,000,000 individual tiles, each one part of a group that makes up a viewable part in the map.

It didn't seem like copy-pasting the text would have the same effect as seeing it in DeviantART. :lee:

Lol, I know how it works, but I think it is funny that after almost a year and a half, I still am a "New Member."

I love Chrono Trigger, and i spent almost a day trying to get it to work on my ds... (never got it to work perfectly...), but I've never found too much interest in tearing apart a games storyline for cracks in the wall. >_>
:lee: still a funny emote  :lee:

General Discussion / Falling sand game

Have any of you played falling sand game or any other versions of it.
It is a change from slaving away 40 hours per RPG because you can turn it on play with it and turn it off within 5 minutes. I have no problem wit h RPGs but some other types of games are nice.

:lee: why is there a rock lee smiley on a chrono forum  Lee is cool but guy is better :lee:
