Characters, Plot, and Themes / How does she do it?
« on: February 11, 2006, 01:15:34 pm »
A friend of mine brought this up a while back and I'm still confused on how this works. Lucca... how does she do it?

Somehow this girl (and her father, sometimes) have the ability to create functioning teleportation devices, keys that can open gates in -time-, and fix robotic beings from more then a century ahead of her. What’s the delio? Smart, I can handle, but this is verging on just eerie. Even with the peak of intellect of 1000 time period it seems unlikely she'd be able to produce the kind of machinery we see inside her home. I mean... the rest of her world is still using swords and shields while she's able to -create- a functioning battle robot that can SING!! All this, within a society still working under a monarchy and are using bladed weapons as their main military strength?... what’s more, she does this openly. Why hasn't the palace asked her to make them guns or guard robots, or cells or massage chairs? (that throne must be mighty uncomfortable). (The only other bit of technology we can see around this period that advanced is the Dragon Tank… which still doesn’t make much sense to me. Do they even have computers?). Maybe this world just developed strangely technology wise, but Lucca still sticks out.

Sorry for ranting, it just seems to me her (and to a lesser extent, her father)'s intellect seems quite out of place in the century she was born. Care to explain?

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Favourite Music
« on: February 11, 2006, 01:40:42 am »
I'm well aware of the favourite theme topic, I even posted in it, but I thought I'd make this one just so people could branch off a bit more.

So, quite simply, what is your favourite song/theme/group of chords (Sealed by a mysterious energy, ect.) in the CT or CC game?
Please state the name of the song/theme/yada yada, where it occurs in the gameplay and why you like it above all others.

Mine is "The Day the World Revived" though Im not sure thats it's official title. It's the theme that plays after Crono, Lucca and Marle emerge from the dome underground after retrieving the seeds. More specifically it plays after my favourite line in the whole series "They might just be our future..." (that one, or "In our world, every storm has an end. Every night brings a new morning. What's important is to trust those you love, and never give up... We must keep all hope alive..." which is said by the nun at the cathedral alter)
Its such an inspiring and uplifting tune. Sad, but very beautiful.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Crono vs. Frog
« on: February 01, 2006, 01:15:25 pm »
Heres an idea that'll stir up some trouble. Who would win in a climactic duel between Crono and Frog? Yes yes, I know, theres no reason for them to fight... but hell, I've never been much for reason.

No magic (too many complications there with lightning and water and whatnot)

Heres the specs. They both have their final weapons, the Masamune II and the Rainbow Blade. Completly secluded level plain with moderate raised and lovered areas (small hills and peaks, trenches and dips) and a deep pond somewhere in the arena. Take your pick! Choose your side and debate why. On with the show!

General Discussion / How rude of me!
« on: January 30, 2006, 01:28:40 am »
I just realized... well, a few minutes ago upon reading The Frog Knight's introduction that I never introduced myself! How rude, how rude. Thirty plus posts in no less!

I, Paradox, optimistic theorist, adorer of the Gurus, reverer of the Nu, and devourer of pie humbly wish to enter this fine community of Chrono... belated as the offer may be.

(Note: I realize it'd be a bit of a hassle if every new member went n' introduced themselves, but I felt impulsive this evening. Sorry!)

Magic, Elements, and Technology / "Luminair"
« on: January 29, 2006, 02:05:39 am »
This is most likely a silly question that needs not be covered, or has already been covered, but if it hasn't I'd like to make a discussion out of it.

The tech Luminair, final magical ability of Crono and one of the attacks usable by Spikko in its final red Nu form, has always been a bit of a mystery to me. What is it? Fire based attacks and water based attacks... Dark Matter and whatnot, double-techs and triple techs... I could at least grasp those. But what is Luminair? A massive "light" based attack? Or a "lightning" based huge explosion? Or maybe just one giant burst of magical energy in all directions. Give me your thoughts, please. If there’s a simple answer, gimmie' it.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Another ol' Lavos Theory
« on: January 22, 2006, 02:35:18 am »
I posted this in the Characters/whatever section thread, then I found out about this little section so I decided to re-post my theory here, see what you crazy people think. My theory on Lavos, or his pourpose if it wasn't for the fact some crazy band of magic kids kicked his ass.

I’m tired of people saying that the period 2400 or 2399 (whatever) is an era where all the lifeforce of the planet is gone and hope is lost. I DEFY THAT I do. There is still life left in the planet the seeds recovered sprouted, quickly at that. Not just in a single location and a single patch of dirt, but in two separate locations on the landmass and at different times. I believe the planet isn't dead at that point, or even dieing. I believe that Lavos didn't drain the planet to a point of death because the planet's energy doesn’t have a limit. It continuously gives off more and more energy or life. Lavos detached from its leechlike position on the planet in 1999 because it finally had enough energy to create its spawns. S'also why he attacked the surface, so that his spawns could roam and prepare before they too went in search of planets to drain for the energy they need to create spawns. Well, that’s my theory at least. Give the planet another thousand years and it'll be a right ol' bundle of life again fresh with (if humans don't make it) new species and beings until one day another intergalactic parasite lands and re-starts the cycle. Maybe this is the universes way of preserving the cycle of life? Let a civilization or species grow to it's peak then strike it down, letting the planet refresh itself then grow anew? I’m sorry; I get way too into this.

Theres my theory, the universes cycle of life for Earth and all life carrying planets.
