Crimson Echoes / Re: Known Bugs
« on: June 06, 2006, 02:17:06 pm »
Sorry if these are already well know. I also get a bit nitpicky at times but that's probably a good thing =]
Dock's for Medina Ferry
Toma's assistant, "I too have a son named Ash" needs re-writing.
Crono's mom should tell us where the gifts need to go, not just who (I spent a lot of time wandering everwhere at random) and when you talk to her later she doesn't repeat who and where they need to go, a bit confusing.
Castle missing new timeline sections? (like the museum)
"What are you doing with all that wood, why don't you research steam power..."
Doesn't steam require LOTS of fire, and thus lots of wood (seeing as magic and gas are out of the question).
When do royal negotiations not include the chancellor? Isn't that like part of his job? Plus I understand that Crono and crew are hardcore fighters, but there really should be more of a royal presence. After all he's the MOFO KING! He'd have these people address him in his royal chamber and would never lower himself to the level of underlings (they sent people he never met before no way he's bowing down to them).
Lucca spends a long time explaining WHY they should be running instead of doing it... maybe the egg should go off THEN Lucca expalins what the heck just happened.
"Such strange clothes" a comment about Magus on his chapter. Isn't his clother normal for zealians? In which case they would know very well why style of clothes it was.
Magus walks over that huge hole in the ground.
Save state not working in tent next to where Magus wakes up.
Talking to Ishito in the barracks (the bed kid) happy music starts to play.
When Lucca and Crono diguise themselves, they don't follow Marle in a line, they basically overlap. Also, maybe the armor should not be pick up able until I have a reason to have them.
The cut scene with the leader of the barracks was a bit off, I don't think the screen dropped far enough down for when L,M,C are talking.
They jack into Lucca's gun? She changes guns a lot, maybe just give her something like an advanced walkie talkie. Maybe even give the group a (non player usable) item specifically for that.
Dragon Tank fight. I killed head, then body, then the wheel still went for me and was alive. This normal?
Robo's picture colors are inverted.
Robo's runs up a wall to shut the rector down.
In the aftermath of Zeal, all the houses are named "Last Villiage" in the East. Maybe a more fitting name for the first resettlements?

General Discussion / Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Nuke them. Nuke them all. This moronic issue will be argued and fought to death until one side or the other has no one left. And you all know that. I'd rather both sides be eliminated than EVER allow one side to win, frankly no one deserves it.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / I know why Frog talks like Shakespeare
« on: March 24, 2006, 02:27:53 am »
One thing I learned the other day from a friend.
When Shakespeare wrote his now world famous plays, people did NOT actually talk like that. I had always thought that all people back then spoke as they did in his plays. But no. Shakespeare was equal parts poet and playwrite. He made his plays in iambic pentameter and as a result he had to bend the rules of english to make the words fit. Or in some cases outright break it.
After the printing press became popular and readily available one of the most popular things printed were Shakespear's plays. From these printings the lower uneducated class would learn language. Eventually Shakespeares made up language became a real language for those without teachers.
Ultimately, it's these lower class people that began to more readily populate the United States, so in fact the root of American english is Shakespearian English, and British English is rooted from sometime before Shakespeare.
Now take that all with a grain of salt of course, but I trust that my friend believes it to be true, and she's a history major who has proved me wrong plenty of times so she has enough credibility for me.
Reason I say all this. Perhaps Frog entered the world ofthe uneducated belly of the royal kingdom and as such picked up the language of the lower class. This might be giving more credit to the transation attempt, but stil worth considering. (After all in the Japanese version Frog was very unclean in his words swearing and being harsh, something often attributed to lower classes.)

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Another theory about Lavos that MAY be interesting
« on: March 24, 2006, 02:19:18 am »Quote from: GreenGannon
Considering that the humans would have evolved at some point, and that Ayla defeated Azala before Lavos fell, I'd find it likely that humans would have overtaken the Reptites at some point. Perhaps Dinopolis isn't a sign that it's a Reptite only dimension, perhaps the two races live in some form of peace in the "Reptite" dimension.
I dunno, in CT it seemed like the only thing going for the Humans was either 1. Ayla the baddest girl of them all. or 2. Hiding in the woods. Which that villiage was later burned.
It has this feeling that the Humans and Reptites were locked in a struggle that could only result in the destruction of one or the other. There were undertones that they simply could not coexist at all. Also on top of all this it felt like the humans had been losing this battle and perhaps were on their last legs.
This is all conjecture and opinion of mine though so take that as you will.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Another theory about Lavos that MAY be interesting
« on: March 22, 2006, 01:50:26 am »Quote from: Burning Zeppelin
It depends. Do you believe that Lavos is working on instict (like cows) or reason (like humans, and ubercool apes in space)?
I used to believe he had some kind of brain going on, but how he acts, he really doesn't seem to do any sort of pre-planning. At best he reacts to stimuli, but he never seems to anticipate that stimuli.
Where as if he were thinking he'd have thought, hey these Zealians are draining power from and they are CLEARLY building a huge ass undersea base for something and it happens to be close to me, that and since I'm pretty powerful, apparently, I'm catching some intense crazy bitch vibes from that Queen Zeal lady.
He only acts AFTER the fact, never before. Prevention is a good indicator that someone is thinking ahead of the fact.

How about this,
Lavos is in his own little world. If you accept him being in a pocket dimension this is taken litterally. He has little concern for the actions of his "food" he doesn't watch the pen so to speak. Then one day Lavos is just sucking power from the earth which is all he does and all of a sudden he starts to feel something draining his energy. It nagged him before, but now it was downright obvious and perhaps reached a point where they sucked out more energy than he took in. So he got pissed and made a huge ass tidal wave. This is not a concentrated attack remember, this reshaped the earth entirely, it affected the whole thing. It just so happened that Zeal was taken down with it. Now the Mammon Machine isn't supporting all the Zealians and Queen Zeal likely uses a limited portion of it's power for herself.
Then Lavos again continues to not watch the pen. He gets what he wants and in 1999 AD ruins the planet and makes it ready for his children to grow in.
The simple fact is that Lavos simply did not care what we did, do you REALLY think that the cows are going to rise up and destory mankind? No, but then again are we LOOKING for it? You can't prove they aren't. Similar idea.

From an ethical naturalistic point of view, no, we weren't justified in destroying this member of a species who was only trying to survive.
So we can't kill to survive, but Lavos can?
Ethics don't play into it when extinction is at hand, it's purely survival of the fittest and not much else factors in.
If lavos lives, the planet (and all life within) die.
Course we could just have told Lavos it was an unethical thing to do and surely he'd stop.

Time, Space, and Dimensions / discuss? help?
« on: March 16, 2006, 04:28:15 am »
I have beliefs more complicated than this but it all boils down to this.
Life is what you make of it, you will never know if God, fate, or an afterlife exist for certain until you die, and if you're dead this hardly matters. The only purpose is the purpose a person chooses.

If you read the thread (and yeah it IS a big ass thread) most of your ideas are talked about and either proven as well as possible or rebutted.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Why was Glenn a Frog instead of a ________?
« on: March 02, 2006, 09:03:36 pm »
TO THE SCRIPT!
Gleen is a frog because Magus thought it was a suitable form to mock him.
Edit:
I see you used correct quotes in your original post. It's never specifically implied "I will turn you into a frog hah hah!" but I'm fairly certain that since Ozzie tells magus to choose the new form, that Magus did choose the new form and decided a frog was a good idea.
Quote
GLENN: C, Cyrus!?
Cyruuus!!
Magus: Harumph!
What's the matter?
Aren't you going to try your luck?
GLENN: Err...!
OZZIE: Gyah, ha ha...
Cat got your tongue kid?
OZZIE: How about it, Magus?
Can't you give him a more fitting
form?
Magus: All right, why not?
There's always time for a little fun.
GLENN: !!
GLENN: A...augh!!
GLENN: Aaaaack!
OZZIE: Gyah ha ha...!
You spineless wimp!

Other Topics and the Prerelease / Interesting Cross textures
« on: March 01, 2006, 10:03:10 am »
Made an attempt at this. All the lines of gibberish actually don't seem to be a part of the picture as I pretty much just discarded them and if I had been discarding entire lines of the picture in the middle of it, then it'd look a lot worse than it does. However, all that "junk" might be the bottom of the pictures as this also has the bottom cut off.
The first picture is what I assembled from the original chopped up picture. The second is with the lines filled in and the third is my attempt at filling the missing bottom (I won't be able to do this for other textures unless they happen to be circular almost symmetrical emblems though. All I did was copy, paste. and rotate a seperate part of the circle's edge to recreate the bottom). Since I know you look for stuff that's fact and not my interepetation the first is only from the original image. But feel fre to use the others if you wish.
I might try to do some of the others as it only took me about 20-30 minutes to do this one.
Edit:
Oh and I just checked, I'm not sure how large the CC textures are but my final one was 128x129 so I might have only been 1 pixel off the correct size.

Here's a few animated .gifs of transitions between the landmasses. Use them if you happen to find them useful. I can make higher quality, but they begin to get rather large in size, but if you want them I can make them.
All the time frames landmasses.

Technically that far back ALL those humans would be ancestors of Marle's (and Chronos, and Lucca, and Magus, and technically Robo just creators not parents).
As time goes on bloodlines mix and mingle. Farther back you go the more people are likely to have been an ancestor.
