Well yeah thats no sweat, a lot are on you tube too, but actually achieving it on your own is a whole different story.

I've played CT since about the time it was released on the SNES, but I have never seen all the endings.  This is mostly since I feel I must complete every task possible, and then finish the game.  Also, I am bothered by not having the major protagonist present.  But the other day I was playing on my emulator and had just finished the Blackbird when I decided that I should defeat Magus (something else I never do because I normally want all the characters).  After slaying him I decided that since I am using an emulator I should just save another state and go for it (this is on New Game+ btw).  So I use Marle Lucca and Ayla to defeat lavos without getting Crono back.  I am really disappointed in myself for never doing this before because this is by far the most  beautiful ending the game has to offer.  I actually had a sick feeling in my stomach when I saw Robo Frog and Ayla just give up on Crono and leave.  I was actually furious (keep in mind I had never seen this ending ever and forgot what happens in it from manuscript).

Seeing this reminded me that there are still about 7 endings I haven't seen (and those of which I have seen Crono and Magus were both alive for).  So I was just wondering who out there has seen all endings with all the variations possible (excluding Lara, cats, etc)

I was thinking that since the curse resulted in Magus time travelling to 600 AD that the curse wouldn't be lifted until he died, but not like you were thinking so I'll try to explain (not very well though because I hve class very VERY soon so I'll try again later, please don't yell at me if this sucks).

Magus and Frog both travelled in time, in most scenarios they travel together.  So they are now running on the same timeline.  According to the Space-Time Continuum Theory, the events in Zeal are happening at the same time as the events in Truce, Proto Dome, Ioka, etc.  So wouldn't this mean that Magus and Frog are kind of aging in the same way, as if they were still travelling together in time?  If so then Frog would be very old if he was waiting for Magus to die even though he MAY be 12,600 younger than Magus.

I'm probably wrong, contradicted so many theories, and pissed a few people off really badly.

I know, I didn't say I believed it, I'm just mentioning it to see if anyone knows what discussion I'm referencing.

Yes, it would be nice. Though with Magus, it seems he looks better with age, or atleast after the journey, he kind of lost that red eye, pointy eared look to him, kinda proven by Guiles appearance too.

Wasn't there a discussion about why Magus looked the way he did?  I recall that many believed he used his dark magic to change his physical appearance so as to look more like someone the mystics would call their leader.  Others believed he "meta-evolved" into a batlike demi-human or something along these lines.  Anyone have a link?

Ditto Dewey...ditto.  I feel both instances you gave are the two best explanations.  I like to believe that Frog turned human based on his inner strength though.  I guess I like it because it makes him seem cooler.  Lame reason but its cool.  Just being reversed by Magus makes it seem less triumphant.

Another good point.  It most likely does have to do with that and some myth dealing with frogs.

I love seeing old threads being ressurrected.  Although, its not THAT old compared to other threads coming back to life.

no seriously

that's wat makes an rpg and rpg

reading makes up about maybe 50% of it all

before the Opassa Beach scence at the end and even before that, you are briefed that it was Schala who heard Serge crying and that it was Schala who made the magnetic storm that took FATE offline which is incredible

she took pity on such innocense

but what i don't understand, is why Serge? was it because he was near a point where Schala could "hear" ?

No, I do understand, you do not.  I was the one who brought up the "Schala loves Serge" (not romanticly of course) topic.

the key to understanding is in the text, with lots of interpretation Wink

Of course, it is, but saying that doesn't help.  Don't make empty posts.  Either attempt to resolve an issue, or ask a question.  Onward...

Yes, but you do have to remember. FATE realised what was going on. And at tha moment must have mustered a lot of it's power, which would give it a brief physical presence in Home World so it could speak, and then the Dead Sea was forced to be destroyed.

That could be true, but maybe with a little more proof.  There may be a connection through Miguel.  He IS the one FATE chose as the guardian of the dead sea or whatever he was.  Gatekeeper?  Perhaps FATE has a weak, communication link by those means.  It could even be telepathic since we don't know for sure where it is coming from and the party is even confused as to where it originated from.  Those little children maybe be telepathic as well since they have no text boxes and such, but thats just goofy.

So its not just the Lavos timeline, but really a third one that Serge's survival creates, including 1999 AD?

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / the letter Luccia gave Kid
« on: March 13, 2006, 11:18:14 am »
Never noticed...too...focused....on letter.  Someone should find a screen shot.

I REALLY hope this doesn't turn into another "Is that curtain in the background Magus??? OMG!@!!!!11 it IS Magus lol"

But if it was Magus he'd show himself, Kid is Schala's clone, Janus wouldn't be able to differentiate.  I'll even bet he is keeping an eye out for more than a girl in all white robes since Schala would have to try fitting into the current culture.

13
that helps...

Ok, so we have a guess as to how it could be Schala talking now that we straightened out a somewhat plausible reason.   That leaves FATE.  How would FATE communicate like that?  Doesn't it communicate through the save points? (sorry I tried to remember what they're called.)  All throughout, FATE either spoke through those or Lynx and neither is present at ground Zero.

I guess it does make a little more sense for it to be Schala and not FATE speaking since I don't understand how FATE could speak at that point.

But if Lavos was trying to achieve perfection through evolution, why wasn't he capable of doing so sooner.  He had to have come from somewhere and was probably already capable of asexual reproduction.
