General Discussion / Re: Alternative Timelines

They are both just as likely, though the single universe theory seems simpler, therefore proving it by Occam's Razor. However, due to new work on string theory, as well as the big bang machine in Europe starting up again, we may soon have proof of a multiverse. Or we could create a point of supergravity, known as a blackhole, here on Earth and suck us all into hell.

Those idiots in the Republican Party. They always try to take the moral highground, yet worship Limbaugh and his ilk. Smaller government, my ass. If they had their way, the government would be just as large, except most of it would be "security"and the armed forces. The slightest of seemingly "unpatriotic" ideas would result in being checked out by the government, the Democratic Party would become extinct. the market would be the only thing free about our nation then. Science except where it applies to the military would grind to a halt, our culture would go backwards in time to the 50's era of McCarthyism and white supremacy. We cannot force the system of the past upon the future, it only results in disaster.

I seriously hope the multiverse idea is true. Infinite variations on each and every event ever to happen in history, from the big bang to the eventual heat death of the universe. It can offer some comfort in depressing situations. "Sure, she turned me down in this universe, but in another one, me and her are out talking, having a good time." "So my father in this universe is dead from my actions. In another universe, we reconciled and are happy." "Sure that car crash paralyzed me here, but in another universe, i can walk and run. Or, the crash killed me. Either way, an AU me is not suffering." "Aerith may have died in this Universe's version of FF7, but in another universe's version, she survives till the end because Cloud does some awesome sword manuever to save her and all". While the multiverse theory has no proof for it, it also has no evidence against it. Anything is possible (Come on Cheney, go back to whatever circle of hell from which you came).

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Re: A little issue about Time Bastard

I do admit that my theory is highly unlikely. However, it is all we have for the time being, unless Kato just added that in to get a laugh out of the reactions of the really devoted fans. Like the side stories in Radical Dreamers. Mick Van Jovie, anybody?

Right on all points. And i do believe that there is a way around Time Bastard. As we have seen, very strong magic screws with time(Marle's Pendant, the Chrono Trigger, Haste, Slow) resulting in either time travel or the speed of time being altered in certain situations. So, what if the reaction between the two Prima Stones somehow slowed time for the newly formed Saintstone? The stone would still be affected by the physical world, as hasted and slowed characters can still be attacked and attack, yet be immune to the Time Bastard Theory, as it would exist in it's own seperate time flow.

Yes, without adding in the reptite village, the DS bonus content makes perfect sense with Time Bastard. I assumed everyone would know i was referring only to the village part of the content. I apologize, Acacia Sgt.

Well, there goes Time Bastard. The entire idea is shot when you add in the DS bonus content. Unless normal time traveling laws do not exist in side that pocket dimension, for what ever reason. The magic of the place may run so thick that it some how defies all rational thought when it comes to time. It certainly would explain how the ladders in there could last for 65,000,600 years.

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Re: Schala started Chrono Trigger
« on: November 17, 2009, 12:00:12 am »
I never said Schala knew about the future. I am just saying that she could have subconciously reached out and caused the events of the game during the Fall of Zeal in the Lavos Timeline. She did it at the beginning of Chrono Cross, and yes, i know she had access to the power of Lavos at that time, giving her the ability to conjure the storm. Human beings can gain extroardinary powers during times of great duress(Dead man's grip, etc.), and magical power should not be exempt from that. Thus, with her entire world falling apart around her, she may have subconciously reached out with her powers and attracted the attention of the Planet. The Planet may have then directed that power to what it considered the best shot for eliminating Lavos, being Crono, Marle, and Lucca.
Hell, i could be wrong. I probably am. But the theory makes sense in a way, and with nothing on the horizon for the series, it seems as if crazy theories need to be bounced around.

Then explain how the events of Chrono Trigger came to pass. Some force had to exert an influence to change the Millennium Fair so that Crono and Marle ran into each other. Schala is the only being that we have proof of being able to change time like that, however unlikely the possibility may be. It could be, and probably was the Planet, but Schala is a viable possibility.

Polling / Re: Did you ever cry while playing the games?

The ending to Chrono Cross.  That song, Radical Dreamers, just made me tear up. The scenes in Tokyo at the very end of the game made me cry out of pure wonder. Just the confirmation of my theory that the two dimensions of Chrono Cross are paralell to ours just made me so emotional... It was great. Oh, and at the Dead Sea. I felt bad for Miguel, though his battle music was so freakin epic.

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Schala started Chrono Trigger
« on: November 16, 2009, 06:01:13 pm »
Schala is the only force that could have caused the events of Chrono Trigger. The Lavos Timeline does not have Crono and Marle meeting at the Millenial Fair, thus causing the events of 1999 AD. By the time of the future, Schala, Belthasar, the Planet, and possibly Gaspar and Lavos could have influenced time in such a way to cause Crono and Marle to meet, thus sparking the events of the game. Belthasar was too insane by this point to travel back. the Planet was only awakened by the creation of the orignal gate by Marle. There is no evidence to suggest that Gaspar ever left the End of Time after being sent there, and Lavos would not change the past with the future going so well for him. The only possibility is Schala.
We know she can do it, as seen with the events of Chrono Cross.
We never did find out what happened to her in the Lavos Timeline. We assume she died, but she may have been sent into the Darkness Beyond Time in the first place.
She has some control over time anyway, as seen when she seals the gate for Magus with her pendant.
She certainly has reason to(Fall of Zeal, Insanity of Her Mother, Loss of her Brother)
She seems to be the trigger for a lot of events in ths series(The Entirety of Chrono Cross)
The means, the motive, and the background info all point towards her.
