Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Question: Lavos Complications
« on: February 13, 2005, 02:48:18 pm »
Robo: After 400 years of experience, I have come to think that Lavos may not be responsible for the Gates.

Marle: What do you mean?

Robo: I have come to think that someone, or something wanted us to see all  this.  The different events over time, that we have witnessed.  It is almost as if some entity wanted to relive its past.

Perhaps this is just some random Robo speculation, however I firmly believe that this is just an authors way of telling us we don't need to suspect that Lavos has the power to create gates.  In fact it could give us every reason to believe that the entity created every last gate.  I'm sure the entity would create portals in ocean palace just to preserve people that would be important to its own survival.  Even better, it put them all in time periods that would be accessable to Crono and Co.  Wasn't it discussed in an earlier thread that the entity preserved people the second time through when Crono died.

Another point to make would be the portal in Magus's Castle.  The entity might want to get involved there to stop Magus from finishing the summon, as well as send Chrono and Co. to a place where they could understand more about the situation the entity was going through.  The Lavos scream that was heard when the portal was created could just be a growl from waking up.  Then, since Magus wasn't continuing to summon, Lavos just goes back to sleep.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Unnatural Selection
« on: October 30, 2004, 01:02:40 am »
Remember how Azala speaks in CT about how the apes are chosen to live.  I also remember reading a Japanese translation that said that mother earth had chosen them.  Now if the earth had chosen the reptites to live in the dimension it pulled dinopolis back from, wouldn't the dragon gods coming from that place have a natural hatred for humans.  Knowing that wouldn't they want to help Lavos/TD and switch sides since they both have that goal, even if they were originally on the planets side.  Is there still any confusion on this or was it solved somewhere and I missed it?

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Amulet vs. pendant
« on: October 27, 2004, 07:47:49 pm »
The amulet and the pendant are two seperate things.  If you remember from CT, Schala gives Janus the Amulet in a room in Zeal palace.  You walk in and Janus talks to his sister about the black wind blowing and Schala gives Janus the amulet telling him that if anything were to happen to him he would be protected.  However, later on she has a pendant that she uses the power up on to send you out of the ocean palace when crono dies.

That raises the question of how the two got to where they did.  My guess would be that Magus gives Kid the Amulet in the future.  Since there were pictures of the CT cast at the orphanage I would infer that they had been there before and seen kid.  As for the Pendant, it could have stayed in the ocean palace, been preserved by the entity, and sent into the future.  I'm not sure about this but I believe that a comment is made on the pendant when you go to 600 A.D.  When marle is confused for the queen they say she looks young but has the same pendant.(Still not sure on that one)

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Why analyze so deeply?
« on: July 03, 2004, 01:55:23 am »
Your thinking about it too much.

No i'm not talking about the chrono series.  I'm talking about all the other stuff.

Although I think the story writers wanted us to leave with the true meaning behind the game and not the logistics of the story.  Then again the logistics do help us find meaning.  But now i'm thinking too much.

This is my beleif...
...At least for now.

Like I said, those evil translaters didn't want to offend young children.  I can just see calls to squaresoft coming in from angry parents, who're mad cause their children were offended by ashes of a dead body.

Curse those young children.

General Discussion / Chrono Break Activism/Petition
« on: July 02, 2004, 02:51:13 pm »
I would rather see no sequel ever than a bad sequel.  Then again we need to understand what constitutes good.  In my opinion any game that completes its accomplished goal is good.  Chrono Trigger was suposed to be an epic battle across time to defeat a planetary destroyer.  I think we can all agree that it accomplished that goal.  Chrono Cross was supposed to be the messy and confused aftermath of Trigger.  It was just that, although a little confusing.  Then again, maybe I am just a sucker for a happy ending.  A third game in the series would be good, but I wouldn't want Square-enix to make it.  Square-enix just isn't the same as good old Squaresoft.  Plus, didn't all the real designers and composers from Chrono Trigger move into Monolithsoft or somthing like that.  Those are the guys that should be petitioned, not Square-Enix.

The last thing we need is a Chrono sequel with Disney characters and Justin Timberlake doing the voice of Lavos.

Chrono Compendium Discussion / Chrono Scholars
« on: July 02, 2004, 01:28:23 pm »
I found a music library and an character library of Chrono Trigger.  They are .smc's and work in an snes emulator.  The enemy library has pitures of every boss/enemy/character and has writing in japanese about them.  The music library has all the songs in the game plus the unreleased ones.  I don't know if you guys want it cause it is like a rom.

Well now are you a conservative gravestone reader or a liberal one.

Also, the bodies on Zenan bridge might only have been left because magus wasn't there.  Magus mostly likely was the one causeing all the burning action.

Another thing to think about is this:

Frog is atop the mountain and sees Cyrus light on fire and when the fire dies nothing is left.

Frog then gets beat and knocked down the mountain.

Knowing Frogs nature, is it really likely that he would trek all the way back up that hill for Cyrus's body.  Frog most likely wouldn't have thought that to be an illusion when Cyrus lights on fire.

General Discussion / Adult Swim lost its class?
« on: July 01, 2004, 12:58:02 am »
Come on.  Adult swim is for Sealab, Aqua teen, and the Brak Show.  So many good quotes out of those shows...  ...like mine.

I also loved it when Carl's body was made out of thousands of eyeballs or when that TV falls on Braks head when he's outside, but you had to see them.

Cowboy bebop is very well done though.  And Big O was an interesting concept.

General Discussion / Radical Dreamers remake.
« on: July 01, 2004, 12:23:09 am »
RD was much more like CT than CC was.  RD was more of a sequel while CC was more of a new story based off of CT.  Spooky, text-based, good music, it had all it needed to.  All that and a space armament bunny.

General Discussion / Favorite Place in an RPG
« on: July 01, 2004, 12:14:25 am »
Doom island in Lufia 1.  Such a legacy put into that place.  That game had a great beginning and ending, but the middle was a botched attempt to put the whole thing together.

Although, Viper manor in Radical Dreamers, that place couldn't be beat very easily either.  Chrono Trigger with a gothic feel to it was always best.  Remember Magus's Castle.  That place was nice too.  Viper Manor RD style was better though.

General Discussion / Translations?
« on: July 01, 2004, 12:05:39 am »
Sadly the one Gamefaqs isn't so great.  Don't get me wrong I'm greatful for just that little bit.  However, most of the real important parts say not exactly sure what this means or haven't translated by them.

When the game was translated, they could have taken out the burnt ashes so they wouldn't "offend young children".

Plus if Magus has you friend all fallen to the ground, burnt, and invisible, I don't think there is a likely hood the he would give him back.  Given Magus's personality at this point in the game.

Maybe the body did just disappear and never reappeared.  That would help explain why nobody knew where he was.  People in guardia were waiting for him to return.  Frog might have too, but figured it wasn't likely with what happened.

Boy would I just love to go out one day and "offend" some young children.

You guys really need to look at that part of CT again.  Cyrus's body isn't buried.  Watch what happens when Glenn and Cyrus go against Magus.  When Cyrus falls to the ground, his body burns and disappears.  A flame covers him and hes gone for good.  No body left for a grave.  His grave must just be empty and mark the fact that he did die.

And some of you were wondering about decomposition. Lol.
