Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but it's the perfect subject for my post.

I just watched the ending of CC again, and noticed something I never noticed before. There are scenes of a young girl with a ponytail wearing jeans. She is walking through what looks like a school yard. She is balancing on a railroad track. Tomboyish behavior suggesting Kid.

The girl in the square - wearing the same long white dress as Schala, standing in the middle of an intersection, clutching a necklace, looking completely bewildered. Isn't this what we would expect of someone from a kingdom thousands of years in the past, who had been imprisoned in darkness for all those years, and now finds herself suddenly thrust into a modern world?

I've alway been a fan of the unification theory, but this seems to supplant that. I can no more picture Princess Schala wearing jeans than I can Kid wearing that "sissy" long dress.

The surroundings look nothing like El Nido. Perhaps Porre? We don't know what happened to any of the others afterward, just that Serge woke up on Opassa Beach. When the 2 worlds were reunited, could transitory figures like Kid and Schala have been cast about and ended up at some random location? Neither of them had a real place in either world. Maybe they are not even in the same time any more.

I know all these end game plotholes were left open (like cutting off the face of the man in the photo) in anticipation of a sequel. Always leave questions to be answered, always leave people wanting more. Too bad it doesn't seem like it will ever happen.

Ah! Finally! The unheadered patch now works. Thanks for the replies. Maybe it was zsnes.

I've tried several different ROMs with the same results. Maybe I have a bad patch? I downloaded it from the link that Zeality posted on GameFAQs. I'm using Lunar IPS to patch it.

Question - do you pacth the Japanese or English ROM? (I've tried both with the same results.)

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / CT translation won't play

This seems like the proper place to put this... I tried applying the translation patch, using both headered and non - headered, and it simply won't work in either zsnes or SNES9x. The headered version shows the first screen, but when I push start, it fades to a certain point and the game freezes. The other version crashes zsnes. My original ROM plays fine. Has anyone else reported this problem?

Chrono Stream / Demo Feedback
« on: March 31, 2006, 04:03:21 pm »
I liked the demo as far as I have played into it. It's probably the best fan game I've seen yet next to Final Fantasy - Endless Nova. I do have a few suggestions:

The front trailer is way too long. I was thinking "good grief, get this over so I can start playing!"

The character's walk is funky (already know why) and I can't make them run at all. I'm using a PSX controller. Also, no pause?

I've messed with RPG Maker a little myself, so I know how much work has already gone into this. It's awesome.

Articles / The Rise of Porre
« on: March 28, 2006, 02:12:54 pm »
I simply think that changes to history made by Crono and company caused a new time line in which Porre became dominant. This may not have even happened until after the game when the team went in search of Crono's mom, who had fallen into the gate.

The existence of the forest may have been a factor. I really doubt if the Masamune was. Porre developed as a modern day miltary power that used weaponry and technology, not swords and knights.

BTW, why does San Dorino no longer exist in 1000 AD?

Articles / Chrono Cross Resolutions Discussion

I think the Leena problem is the easiest to resolve. Let's take a look at what happened during the game:

The Home World Leena seems more pushy and less believing than The Another World Leena. AWL readily accepted that Serge was real, and that he really was the Serge who had drowned, after a night of thought. HWL never leaves the village (not even the dock!), is loud, unladylike (as attested to by Una, and one of the endings,) and refuses to believe that Serge could take on Lynx's form. AWL Leena travels with Serge, and is aware that he exists in Lynx's form. They are different people, as even AWL herself mentions when she meets with HWL.

To HWL, Serge is growing up, and becoming more independent, as evidenced by him leaving the village for extended lengths of time, which he had never done before. She probably just accepts this as fate, and is preparing to move on with life without Serge in it.

When Serge returns to talk to her after regaining his own form, she acknowledges this by telling him that it seems that he is drifting away from her. She has accepted this, since she tells him that is fine, and be sure to take care of himself. She was shocked to see a cat-man claiming he was Serge, but surely had later talked to Marge and the others, and learned this was true. To her, Serge is merely growing up and moving along with his life, a life that obviously she would not be a part of.

Thus, Leena really isn't an obstacle to the marriage of Serge and Kid/Schala.
