I doubt it was totally random that they chose 6666...  There have been other allusions in CT.  Thats why there even is a Real-World Connections forum.  The fact is early in the game Magus seems to represent the "beast," (we think he is the creator of Lavos at this point, and is bent on world damnation) and it would make a lot of sense to give his hp a value close to the "Mark of the Beast."

Hey gamecube also had a C-stick... except, its main purpose was changing camera angles...  Yeah thats about it.  In ToS it was used for shortcut techs, but most games reduced to have it as Camera Angle changing thing.

YAY Ramsus! He understands the fault of humans... that they are followers.  That no religion really changes squat.
Humans will follow mortals instead of Gods and that is actually much worse.  Why you ask... because what happens when the mortal god dies?  Common ieople go in a crazy frenzy and care so much about one human's death over everything else important going on.  Don't believe me, look at what happened when Arafat died.  Palestine went crazy.  They lost so much hope and pride and became an even more desperate nation.  When humans worship other humans, many many things are bound to go wrong.  Admiration is very different than worship, and religion is not merely admiring a deity, it is worshipping one.  Humans are very likely to have faults, but if they are a god, then people will follow them.  If a mass murder is viewed as a human god in one religion, then the people will follow his example without questions.

Yeah... the speech was more of the generic, "I can save whatever you desire... simply accept the Sith..."  not some master plot of evil with the creation of some sort of Anti-Christ...

Reality, Real-World Connections, and the Supernatural / Re: Zurvan
« on: June 04, 2006, 01:22:00 pm »
Yeah... I remember talking about Zurvan when we discussing the whole Zoroastrian influence in the Chrono games:

Zurvan - God of Time and Space, neither good nor evil, father of Ahura Mazda and Ahriman.

No but it is implied he is a Lancealot, falling in love with Leene and stuff.  Like the Frog Ending...  That was strange.  But the implications are pretty obvious.

10
Exactly... Magus stops looking like a demonic lord, and becomes "normal looking"  Lucca could have just as easily fallen in love to non-Mystic Magus.

GreenGannon: -10 Points, arguing!
Zaperking: -50 Points, having a crush on Schala!
GreenGannon: -a gazillion Points, being an asshole!!
:lee:

Whatever.

Anyway, having not played Chrono Cross which is more Schala-centred, I won't know much about her personality, but what I know is is that she is basically the total opposite of Magus. Except in power. This is probably because Queen Zeal had sex with Lavos, and created the most powerful children in history. Or something like that.

... She did not have sex with Lavos... thats just... yeah...

But as BZ said, Magus has a cape.  And a cool demonic lair.  I mean the whole fire thing when you walk into his room...  Yeah that is sweet.  Plus his music obviously shows how much better he is.  I mean Schala needs incredible theme music to even stand a chance.

But this arguement is old.  And the fact is, it was stated that Janus was the stronger of the two. Get used to it.

I originally found this site while stumbling across wikipedia...  it was in the external links of some page.  I see no reason not to make a wiki about the Compendium.

Yea, in the end Schala comes up on top with the whole transcendant-Nirvana-Buddah equivelent-Godhood-ascension dealio when she learns the thing about da' Meaning of Life.

Magus turns a guy into a Frog and laters undoes it.
That Frog kicked major ass mind you...
And, Schala did not kick nearly as much ass as Magus.  I mean did Schala manipulate an entire war just so she could exploit her revenge... no she didn't, she didn't even try to have revenge.  What an idiot.  Plus Schala lacks a cat like Alfador, everyone awesome has a cat like Alfador.
