Title: Serge and Leena Scene at Cape Howl
Post by: MyNewPony on May 13, 2012, 11:12:31 pm
How do I see the scene where AW Leena asks Serge if he and HW Leena have kissed yet? I just arrived back at the HW Opassa Beach after deciding to save Kid. But when I enter Cape Howl, the scene doesn't show up.

I think you actually need to check the tombstone, not just enter the area.

I did check the tombstone, but nothing happens. I have Leena in the party, too.

doesn't it have something to do with the choices you make in dialogue with leena earlier in the game? may need to consult a faq on this.

I didn't even know this scene existed!  What's the exact sequence of events I need to play out to see it?

I'm with Lennis on this, I've never heard of any scene like this :S
Sounds alot like the Kid/Serge scene at Water Dragon isle...loads of people haven't seen it.

I don't know about having Leena meet with herself, but the scene itself does happen at Cape Howl, since it's the ''Serge and Leena for ever'' carving on the rock that prompts Leena to talk about it.

According to the Ultimania(page 440) it happens in 2nd play (new game+). Also there's an event at another Cape Howl with Kid about Serge's dream in which he killed/hurt Kid, it only happens before the Viper Manor event.

Edit*

It doesn't seems that page is in the category of "new game+".
I need to recheck it.

Edit 2 *

Oh I see, it seems you shouldn't not choose to save Kid. Because it says after hearing Glenn's dialogue in front of the flower shop but before your character changes to Lynx.

A bit off-topic, but there is another hidden scene that I just happened to stumble onto the other day - this one involving Nikki and Kid.  They talk about the origin of the name "Magical Dreamers".  The scene triggered when I went to see Home World Nikki on his ship not long after saving Kid from the orphanage. (To get his level 7 tech)  I think Kid and Nikki were in the active party, but another possible factor was that this was NOT a Nikki playthrough.  I had only just got Nikki by using the Chrono Cross inside Sprigg's house.

I am now more curious than ever about these hidden scenes and how many others there might be.  There is no mention of them in the original strategy guide.  Is there a page somewhere that lists all the scenes?

I think I saw that Magical Dreamers scene, wihtout recruiting Nikki and without using the Chrono Cross.

That scene with Kid and Nikki I think is basically Nikki says he met Lucca, and she was the one who came up with the name Magical Dreamers or something, because she liked his music so much.

Never heard of this Leena Cape Howl scene though. Then again, I don't think I ever bothered to take Leena to Home Cape Howl.

I remember seeing both the Nikki/Kid and the Leena scenes in the script while I was working on Chrono Helix (IIRC, Nikki/Kid is in quite a late chapter), but I've never bothered trying to trigger either, so I don't know what the preconditions are.

where's a script dump when ya need it!! I've missed out! chrono cross in spriggs house? I don't even have a clue what THAT means!

[Purple cat coughs and uses tail to point at the fifth item in the first section of the left sidebar] The script the Compendium already has is about as good as you're going to get unless someone is willing to put in a lot of work with yaz0r's pre-C&D partial disassembly of the fieldscript code. Cross stores the script internally by game location, not in chronological order, and it's a real bear to figure out what the preconditions for a given segment are. Oh, and did I mention that plot segments and NPC conversations are all jumbled together, with the debug menu thrown in?

As for "chrono cross in spriggs house"[sic], take it back there after you get it in a New Game+ and see what happens. (http://s3.postimage.org/mgb8sh9zz/icon_alfador.gif)

Looks like those scenes adds significantly to characters/story/atmosphere in the game, I don't understand why developers tried to hide them.
For example, campfire scene on Water Dragon Isle should be absolutely mandatory, instead it is easily to miss really important part of Kid's (and Lucca's) lifestory....

Kid:
   ......?
   Where the bloody hell
   is Nikki?
   I wanted to ask him
   somethin'...

Kid:
   I'm gonna go look
   for him...
   Wait here.

Kid:
   Hey, Nikki...
   I wanna ask ya somethin'.

Nikki:
   Yes?
   What is it?

Kid:
   It's been botherin' me
   for a long time...
   How'd ya come up with
   the name of your band?

Nikki:
   Oh...that...

Nikki:
Well, there's a story behind it.
When I first started out on
my own, I couldn't even break
   the top 100 chart.
   Inc17001What's even worse was
   that nobody accepted my looks,
or the meaning behind my songs.
   I was way depressed...
   I didn't think I had the talent,
so I stopped believing in myself.
I was this close to quitting...

Nikki:
But one day, a woman stopped
   by my trailer and said...
   '"Your songs sing of
    magical dreams.
    They're beautiful..."'
   Those words made me
   so happy...
   That's when I decided that
if I were ever to have my
own band, I would name it
   '"Magical Dreamers!!!"'

Kid:
   Huh...
   I think I might have
   an idea who that
   woman might be...

Nikki:
   ......!
   You know her!?
   Inc17002Please, tell me
   who she is!
   I've been wanting to
   thank her all these years!

Kid:
   ......
One of these days, I'll tell ya.
   ...When everythin's over.

Nikki:
   Looks like you have
   your reasons...
   OK, then,
   that's a promise.

Kid:
   Yeah, sure...
   But when that time comes,
   let me hear some of
   yer old songs.

and:

 [Cape Howl (Home)]

Leena:
   ......
   You really are
   Serge, aren't you...?

Leena:
   You're alive in this world,
living a normal life with me.

Leena:
   But in the other world,
   ...you're dead...
   And I'm living a different
   life without you...

Leena:
   Sure is strange, though...

Leena:
   You couldn't tell
from the sea or the sky...
   They look the same...

Leena:
   So tell me, Serge.
   How's it going with
   the me in this world?

Leena:
   Have we kissed yet?

Leena:
   Well? Well?

Leena:
   Come on!
   Tell me!

 [Arni (Home)]

Leena:
   Heeey!?
   That girl looks
   like me...!?

Leena:
   Hah-hah... Surprised?
   Well, there's something
   real deep behind all this.
   You should have Serge
   explain it to you.
When it's all over, of course.

Leena:
   Wow... It just
   seems so weird.
   I don't know what's
   going on, but
   good luck!

Leena:
   You got it!
   Leave it to me!

Leena:
   Serge!
   Where have you been!?
   You had me worried sick!
   You just suddenly disappeared
   from the beach.
   That was some magic trick!
   Don't even think about
   pulling that one again.
   Once is enough for me.

It seems I've done both of those on at least a few occassions as I can actually recall the exact wording in places. Can't help but imagine I've done the sprigg's house kurono kuross as well seeing as how you just walk in the house.

Just downloaded a save from gamefaqs and tested.
And yes, it requires the Glenn branch, otherwise you won't see this scene.

Thanks a bunch utunnels!

I wonder where I could find these other 'secret' scenes.

Actually, I just finished playing through CC while not going through the Glenn route, and I managed to get the scene, but only when I got back to Home World to get the Ice Breath, after the ghost ship. I tried to view it when going to the Hydra Marshes, but it didn't show then.

This was a new game+ after having done the Glenn route on the previous save though, not sure if it matters.

Too True !!

I've recently been playing through again myself and trying to document the various ways that Water Dragon Isle can change depending on decisions, in some choices I made ...the end result ended up with the fairies being killed by a group of Lagoonates !

I'm still intrigued about this Kid and Serge Cape Howl scene though, I assume that its on the 'Save Kid' Branch, if the Leena scene is on ' Leave Kid' Branch.

Yeah. If you ignore Water Dragon Isle entirely (by way of going straight through Mount Pyre), you will later find the island has been overrun by Lagoonates. You have to follow Glenn's route for this to happen.

Maybe it happens regardless if you take Glenn's route. Not sure.

Correct !
You cannot touch Water Dragon Isle at all for this to happen, when you return for the Blue Relic, all the fairies are dead ...from the Dwarves, and the Lagoonates in turn have killed the Dwarves!

I still need to see if this can happen in the 'Save Kid' route.

Its still quite an Easter Egg, as in Glenn Branch ...Fargo and other party members still suggest travelling to the Water Dragon Isle for 'protection'. You can save the Fairies in Glenn's path as well ^^ they dont always have to die.

Lol, thread necromancy

If anyone cares, you can also get this scene after you return to Termina with Kid healed on the Razzly route, swap to Home World and go to the Cape, but you musn't bring Kid or it won't happen

Since this topic has already been bumped, I would like to add that in my very first playthrough of Chrono Cross, I actually did just that and plowed through Mount Pyre, because I was stupid and didn't realize I needed to cross dimensions in order to do the needful.  I assumed it that going through the lava was like the first Final Fantasy where it was a literal trial by fire.

So when I saw the Lagoonates later in the game, I had no idea what was going on, and I definitely didn't know the fairies were saveable.
