Title: (Old) Chrono Shift Demo Announcement
Post by: Mr Bekkler on March 03, 2011, 04:03:35 pm
 :D

I'm very happy to say the Chrono Shift demo will be released very very soon. The demo will have significant changes to the plot toward the end to keep things suspenseful for the final product, yet satisfying in its own right. Once the demo is released we'll be in full steam to get the game finished, so there will not be many more news updates until everything is finished.

Expect the next update to have a link to a downloadable showcase of what we've been working so hard toward!

W00t! Looking forward to it Mr Bekkler! Does everyone need the RPGMaker runtimes installed in order to play?

Nope, it'll have everything you need included! Should run on any Windows PC that can run Chrono Alter.

Can't wait to see how it's shaping up! I'll record some footage and pop it onto my Youtube to help spread the news if you like.

That'd be great! Are you thinking playthrough or trailer?

Just a straight playthrough of a segment with a link to your team's project subforum and/or demo download. Lemme know if you have any preferences for what parts to show.

Show whatever you want! I'm quite partial to the cutscenes, they take a long time to code. And the battles were very meticulous to get as close to Trigger as possible with the RM2k3 engine, involving a lot of graphical work. Showing that off would be nice too.

Will do, I'll get a video up soon. Hmm, I seem to recall I had to do something special with the executable options to record some of Lance's last release, so this'll be interesting no doubt...

Good luck! I have a ton of trouble with video screen capture software in general! I find the best one for me is the trial version of BSR

There are no time limits but it has watermarks.  I've figured a way around it. I have Pinnacle Studio and Adobe Premiere, and both of them have a video crop feature. BSR allows you to capture a selected amount of your desktop, and the watermarks are in the corners, so you can play the game in a window, and record a widescreen ratio around that window, then crop out the watermarks because the game is 4:3 fullscreen anyway.

Admittedly this is tedious as hell so if you have a better plan go for it!

Edit: Also, it goes without saying, but definitely show the world map. I think it's a bit of a shocker when you go out of the Academy and see the world and where Zeal "is" for the first time.
