Hello everyone! This is the thread to watch the progress of Chrono Shift's artwork. Here you will see character designs being born as well as eventually scenes from the game itself. (First thing is first... got to get the OK on how the characters look, no?)
I hope everyone gets very excited and enjoys the project as much as those of us working on it :)
I'd like to thank Mr. Bekkler for inviting me on as I've had the pleasure of collaborating the character designs with him thus far. He's a great visionary and together we hope to wow you with the final results ^.^

Thanks! I try ^.^ and I thought it'd be a nice little touch to see cause I know Toriyama did the same thing with Chrono Trigger <3

I really, really love the colouring job. And the way he's standing. His hair is fantastic as well. I miss having purple hair. ><

Me too. Although I think in Toriyama's work, Bekkler would probably be a lot more muscular.

Nope, I was given the description that he had a lean build so no DBZ arms here ^.^ I kept his colouring style more to my personal art so I at least had some trace of my signature in the work itself.

It's funny you should say that because something I noticed about Toriyama because I looked at a lot of his work more recently... if you look at some of his earlier more known characters... and even some of his newer ones... someone always looks like someone else. Has anyone else noticed that?

XD When I saw this pic, the first thought that erupted in my mind was, "HOLY SHIT!! DID TRUNKS APPEAR AS CAMEO IN DRAGON QUEST?!?!" Haha I think not, but it's always awesome to assume that way.

I really like how we get to see all your annotations and arrows and everything on your pictures, and they also have the in game menu pictures as well right ?

It does have the face sets from in-game that I made. They may be replaced depending how good I can make LadyMarle's stuff look at a super low resolution.

I'm not sure if my criticism is wanted, Lady Marle, but here it is:
I feel like the drawings of the two women are more solid than those of the men. In the former, you have distanced yourself more from Toriyama style and seem to have perhaps incorporated your own sense for accessorizing. The men, however, are far more Toriyama inspired and show a weaker attempt to distinguish your style. That their clothing is less distinct also renders their designs less interesting.
I find Rush's face problematic. He is the only one whom you attempted to draw from the front, demonstrating the difficulty of drawing the nose from this angle in this style. The chin seems like a tacked on accessory of manliness which does not mesh organically with the otherwise very compressed face. This compression is perhaps due to a desire to have his head leaned downward, which would need to be shown more clearly through shadowing.
Norstein's face looks like Vegeta's (or Magus's), but with less detail and character. Based on his personality in the demo, he is scholarly, sensible and rather goofy (as shown by his after-battle dance, a reference to his robotic appearance in Chrono Trigger). It is important to keep these qualities in mind when drawing him. I agree with your choice to make him slender, but he also seems rather short or small-bodied, like a child.
