Fan platformer The Rise of Magus (http://www.silentellipsis.com/riseofmagus), originally released in 2009, has just had a major update. The new version includes numerous improvements, as well as new unlockable content that more than doubles the length of the game and provides new challenges for veteran players, as well as an extension of the storyline, with multiple possible endings.

The game explores the untold chapters of the story of Magus - how in his quest for vengeance he rose to power among the mystics and began a war that threatened the entire human race. It features a leveling and upgrade purchasing system, normal and hard difficulties, a Game+ mode, story dialogue that changes based on player actions, and lots of easter eggs.

Very cool! I'm definitely giving this a spin!
-
Hey, awesome work! Thanks for making and sharing this.
-
A Magus platformer, aye? Sounds tempting. *downloads*
-
Never seen a platformer on here, killer idea. Also never seen the Magus background expounded upon yet either, good work man.
-
This is version 1.5, his second version of the game. The first version was posted here 2 years ago. The Magus platformer is not new, but this is the newest version. This is all in his OP up top. And prophet's guile was technically first in Magus fangame background exposition stuff. :P
Still, this is really well put together and there are a lot of improvements over the original!

Huh? This got an update? Sweet! :D
I remember when I played the original, it was fun. Now to see what this got in store...
-
Oooohhh!! Looks fun! *downloads* <3

Oooh This looks awesome *runs to go download*

RRREEEEEEAAAAALLLLLYYYYY wish I could run this. My mac is irritating me at the moment (and yes, I am aware of Boot Camp's existence).

I just defeated Norstein Bekkler and now I have to defeat Ozzie.
He just turned into ice, and no atks or magic seem to having any effect...
The game just goes on and on. Is this a bug? or do I have to do something specific here? !_!
EDIT
Nevermind guys ;D

Yeah, if you remember fighting Ozzie in Chrono Trigger it should become apparent what to do, but if you get confused, a hint eventually appears here.

Didn't get to play the first one, and I'm kind of glad I waited. Once I have the time to download it and stuff, I am definitely trying this out... <3

For some reason, the game runs super ultra slowly on my PC.
I'm on windows 7, with PD 2800GHzx2 CPU, 1GB ram and NVIDIA 7100GS GFX Card.

How exactly do I ssave? i get to the F5-F8 thing, but can't save >_>
-
@utunnels: The 1GB of RAM is probably your problem. These days that's not very much.
@Providence: You press F5, or F6, or F7, or F8, to save when you reach a save point. Each key corresponds to a different save slot. That's what "Press F5-F8 to save" means. Once you've saved you can load from the associated save file (F5 saves to slot 1, F6 to slot 2, etc.).

Really? I also have just 1GB of RAM and it works... well, there is slowdown, but just slightly and every now and then. Speed overall is fine, that's for sure.
-
Hmm, I think it is a video problem? Maybe v-sync or something.
-
Well it also depends on what else you're running. If the game is slow for you try closing other programs and playing in fullscreen mode (F4, or select it from Settings in the main menu). If you're on a laptop make sure your computer isn't in a power-saving (CPU-speed-reducing) mode.
