Ever since getting my new PC, I've been having problems with the monitor. Sometimes the display will flicker and sometimes I'd get a 1 second signal loss (sound gets muted with the signal loss). This seems to occur everywhere, but mostly when I play games. Half Life 2, for example, flickers, loses signal, and after alt-tabbing to look at something then go back gives me a black screen. WoW does the same but without the alt-tab issue.
The monitor is an Asus VE276Q and has HDMI in the top left corner. It currently outputs as DVI. My video card is ATI Radeon HD 5770 and I am using Catalyst drivers 10.11.

Sounds like something isn't connected all the way. Check all your wires and make sure they're fully inserted, esp. DVI and power. Might solve your problem quick. If it's more serious than that, I would contact the manufacturer or Google your problem with your exactly model number of vid card, tv, etc. to see if anyone else had the same problem and already solved it.
New computer issues are the pits, I still can't get my audio recording interface to work on my Win7 laptop I've had for a year, but was easy as hell to set up on my old dead WinXP tower. Good luck!

I know the guy who ordered and assembled it said something about Eyefinity and mentioned something.... about the video card being run with a single monitor. Maybe my monitor can't handle it?

Maybe. Check your screen settings and make sure the Hz is no higher than the monitor can handle, usually about 60. That'd be the screen refresh rate, and 3d displays use something like 120 or 180Hz, which is freakin crazy but also not the point.
What operating system do you have? If it's Win7, you can just right click the desktop and hit Screen Resolution, then Advanced Settings. All the stuff you can mess with is right there in those steps.

It could be a number of things, from your video card dying, to your power supply not being enough, or power surges, to your monitor dying. So I dunno lol.
That happens to me, but I know why, because of slight power surges, but it only happens where I'm currently at.

Well I sent it in to be looked at and the guy there said he tested it out WoW on my monitor, and then a smaller monitor and concluded the video card was defective and replaced it for me. He thinks it's due to overclocking it. I told him all I did was play games at highest quality.
What I don't get is how the video card could've gone bad in about a day like that, even with higher than recommended settings in a game. Are video cards really that volatile?

I would check user reviews on amazon and newegg and places like that, I've never built a computer but my acquaintances from my college who have know specific products by specific brands to stay away from. I find them about as reliable as customer reviews, which doesn't say much for them, haha.
They just don't make stuff like they used to? Not ATI, but, you know, they.

No, usually video cards last way longer, defects are usually rare, but it mostly depends on who manufactures it. Like if you had an ECS ATI Radeon HD 5770 it's more likely to be defective (because most ECS products are cheap and usually not reliable) than an XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770.
I have an XFX Radeon HD 4770, I've overclocked it, I spend, to the least, 8 hours a day on my gaming computer (well did, where I'm at I don't have my gaming computer), play mostly every game at high settings, it's hooked up to my TV, a lot of times I leave it on during the night, I've had it for almost a year, and I have yet to have any problems with it. But like Bekkler said, it's best to check reviews and stay away from specific brands, the card I got had some pretty good ratings and reviews, and was it cheap (even cheaper now than when I got it).
A note on ECS, I've had an ECS motherboard for nearly 3 years and maybe it's just luck but it has also been holding up, even though I've been a bit rough with it. Though I think it's time for an upgrade, whenever I can afford it, because my motherboard is bottle-necking my video card, since the PCI-E slot is only 1.0, and my video card is a 2.0 PCI-E card (might as well get a motherboard with PCI-E 3.0 just in case I ever want to upgrade my video card again), I'd also like to at least have a quad core :D

Well my replaced Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 seems to be doing well. I've had absolutely no problems with it for nearly 36 hours now.

Well that's good, hopefully it'll last for 2 years at least :D
