What!? They didn't cite the Chrono Compendium theorists? Tsk, tsk.

It reminds me of Futurama where Fry meets his 'grandpa' and saves him from getting run over bya jeep etc. Although in that show it turns out Fry IS his grandpa lol.
-
The paper doesn't really disprove the grandfather paradox so much as provide a technique to prevent it. If they don't use post-selection, things become a temporal mess as usual.
The problem with the solution is that it renders the time traveler incapable of changing the past in any meaningful way, or possibly at all.

I gotta say, I'm no physicist, but this sounds completely ridiculous. Potentially a good plot for a movie, though.
-
Hmm, I don't think that is a new idea. At least I read similar things here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel
Think about Lucca went through the red gate to save her mother, only to find it was she who accidentally actived the machine which ate her mom's legs.
-
You know, I didn't find out until JUST RECENTLY that you can save Lucca's mom. I'm not sure, plot-wise, which option I think is better. I think it's possible that the "bad" outcome may make for a better story, a la Final Fantasy VI.

This "they somehow magically avoid harm" bit upsets my soul.
