Post by: Cooper on June 14, 2010, 03:05:13 pm
This is a Teaser Poster for Chrono Break. Still WIP.

Chrono Break Logo made by Dice. (http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php/topic,8616.0.html).
Poster made with Blender and Photoshop.

me likey  :grimm it almost looks as to hint at a Wii game more than anything (I'd image CB would be multiplatform if they WERE to make it).

Looks dark! I love it!

I'm curious about the design of the pendant's "necklace string." It looks like it might be some kind of segmented metal. Any reason to design it that way over something more, I guess, flexible?

Thanks.
Well it's not so easy to model a realistic pendant and I'm still learning the program. I've to practice more.

LOL it might not be, but you can still use tricks!  8)

Tip 1: Instead of shaping the polygons of the lace/string yourself, just rig it with Spline IK or something and simulate realism based on weight and gravity. The option's available in most 3D apps, but I hope Blender has it too.

Tip 2: Make the pendant vibrant GOLD with some bump-maps as those fancy cuts you normally see in jewelry! XD There's some tutorials around for making Gold materials to use on objects.

Tip 3: Make the jewel of that pendant FLAT (beveled inside), apply a different, though glowing, material to it. Next, place a rounded glass on top of the flat surface. Clear glass, cut like a diamond, increase the reflection and refraction ridiculously high (but just the right amount). With sufficient rays of light this oughta sparkle like God's business.

The pendant might need work, but the composition of this image is just right.  The broken pendant lying on the ground hints at something terrible, but doesn't tell you what that something is.  A perfect teaser.

I'm flattered you liked my interpretation of the Break logo! x)

I really like this - it's simple, but dramatic and (for lack of better words) a good tease to stir the would-be gamer.

Nice. "History ends..." is a very powerful and ominous teaser, and the background is appropriately dark. The crack/bolt of energy in the pendent's jewel is another nice, foreboding touch, and I'm very impressed by how portentous you're able to make this poster appear.

I love it.  It really draws you in and makes you wonder what the hell the pendant is doing.  It's very disquieting.  Great job.

I like the design. The glowing gem and way you used light and shadow is very nice. Definitely an ominous feel. I agree that the chain should probably be different to match the actual pendant better, but as a first draft it is already well done. Good work!
