You think if you are a "trusted user" that you could upload at will. Especially since you already uploaded Chronicles, correct?
oh well... time to play the waiting game.Mmhmm. I want it to be done now. D:

Got it! Definitely gonna get some playing in before homework. It should be ready to go after you unzip the game.
Edit: Yeah, so do you need RPGMaker to play this, or what?
About to go get the letter back from the mystics, level 7. Seems like the monsters give you WAY too much gold, but maybe it levels out later on. Not sure why the inn is in the first town when you can nap for free. The attack accessory adds like 30 attack power while the shield and hat add 1 defense each that seems a little out of wack. Fun game so far though, I liked that the king couldn't lend you any soldiers, because his were all marching in place in front of him :PYeah, the nap thing was added just earlier today. XD
Controller wise, I have two snes controllers hooked up with usb and neither of them work. However, I have an n64 controller hooked up via adaptoid and that one works great. Control stick for movement, with right and down c for buttons.
hymm for some reason it didn't. I checked that thing next to it and it says I need to turn the power on. I went back to both levers and can't do anything to them (kinda like the town next to the castle before you get frog). I can't walk though that center door.Odd. I just checked the coding, and my testers had no problem with it.
hymm I don't know why but I can't get any further.Did you try to walk over the gate?
yea I'm waking over those grey boxes and into the door but it's not going to the next screenThat's really weird... Everything looks fine in the coding...
I have the same problem. The gray pillars appear to have been lowered, but the door is just a solid wall and won't go to the next room. I flipped both switches and killed all the enemies. In the door on the left and up I found another computer screen and a bookcase but those both did nothing. Level 20 and stuck for now. Was there anything else we were supposed to do there? I thought I searched pretty good.AHHHHHHH! Damn, I see what I did! How in the bloody hell did this happen?
If I copy the save01.lsd file into the new game I'll be able to keep all my data right?Yes, you should.
Alright. Now all we have to do is wait for admins there to give green light for the game. I've been grinding in the old game for some hours now :P.Well, while we wait on RPG Maker Network to approve the new version, I give you the download on Mega Upload.

I only played the first 5 minutes of the game, so these are my initial thoughts. First off, there seems to be a lot of effort into here. Which is good. Every where seems to be well designed. You don't have to grind too much. Just don't actively avoid battles, and you'll be fine.
The start of the game made me giggle though. So Crono and Marle are looking down at Grandia when ALL OF A SUDDEN MONSTERS ATTACK! Then out of no where LAVOS APPEARS AND KIDNAPPS MaRLE. HE HAS TAKEN HER TO ANOTHER CASTLE . It seemed a bit, spontaneous :p.
You wake up in a strange woman's bed "Possibly an inn", who some how knows your name, but is aware that you don't know her's :p
I plan on playing some more though, but I've be come nitpicky in my resent years.
Another question is, how is the grinding? I know most rpgmaker games like to use it as the "meat" of the game, but I was wondering if you took the CT approach to grinding, which is, little to none, while placing you in the places you should be at the strength you should be at?
I plan on playing some more though, but I've be come nitpicky in my resent years.Don't you just love instant karma?

Ah, I shouldn't argue with someone who is epileptic. :PTalk about low tolerance for irony... what on earth does this have to do with anything? :? Yeesh.
This looks cool, I will be playing it for sure! A question though, is there any way at all to have this NOT default to full screen? I have a dual monitor setup, and when I run the game, it causes all the icons on my left monitor to get shoved up along the top of my monitor, and it is really quite irritating. Any ideas?F4 switches it from fullscreen, F5 selects resolution.
[Back on topic: I get the impression that I can't play RPGMaker games on Mac... is there any sort of emulator program that I can use, or do I need Windows on hand? Surely we've got other Mac users here who are literate in such things.
Many thanks! I'll give this a shot. :D[Back on topic: I get the impression that I can't play RPGMaker games on Mac... is there any sort of emulator program that I can use, or do I need Windows on hand? Surely we've got other Mac users here who are literate in such things.
I haven't actually downloaded the game yet, but RPGMaker is a Windows-only program, so I'd assume the game is a Windows-only executable. There are three ways that you can go about running Windows executables on a non-Windows machine, none of them ideal:
3. If you have an Intel Mac, set up a Windows dual-boot--this gives you maximum compatibility at the cost of maximum inconvenience. I don't know the exact procedure--plug Mac "boot camp" into Google and see what information it gives you.

That would take two hours at minimum. I'm out of town this weekend. Sorry. IF you can get a copy of RM2k3, you can open the game and change it yourself. This looks cool, I will be playing it for sure! I know about that, my issue is that it DEFAULTS to full screen, so every time I start the game, it is full screen. Yes I can set it to windowed, but the damage is already done, and my icons are already shoved into the corner. I want to know if there is a way to have the game start already windowed, not full screen.
EDIT: From what I have read on this, the game maker can choose what the default is. Any chance you can just uncheck that full screen option and reupload the game?
hey um anyone know where the 3 weapons are after you get the Epoch I'm missed one areaThe village with the elder that was sick. The tombstones.

So far I have just reached Red Moon Village (I think that's what it is called)Send'em to me via PM. I'd love here what you have to say so I can improve CT3.
As of right now I have a few problems with the game, opinion wise, but it's a good game in it's own right as of now.

So, I downloaded this thing the other day, and there was music for the title screen and stuff, but there wasn't any music during the opening scene, or when Lavos took the princess to another castle, or when Crono woke up in that inn, or when I got to the world map. Was that an artistic choice or a bug?Check your sound settings. Your midi channel may be off.
Finally had a chance to get into this a little. Color me impressed! Even though I consider myself pretty jaded (I guess all of us would), the game brought out strong pangs of nostalgia. Something about going into the first shop in Sealo and reading the equipment descriptions really affected me. I wanted to do a recording of the first boss and toss it up on Youtube, but alas, somehow I captured twenty minutes of video that were rendered completely impotent by random black frames. I was too worried about causing fits of epileptic seizures to upload, forgive me! I wonder what Fraps does differently from Camstudio; could have been the FPS setting I recorded with too.
Chrono Alter is an excellent and worthy fan effort. Here are some issues I'd point out in case you'll be able to address them in your next project:
1. Transitionary tiles, especially for rounding of pathway edges. Taking another look at Sealo Forest I think you did well with the transitions from grass to dirt paths there (still a bit too much squareness in the transition from animated to non-animated grass tiles though). But in the first two towns the lack of transition from grass to other features, like pathways and buildings, really stands out. I'd have to guess that most of the resources were lifted from Seiken Densetsu III or Tales of Destinry, both of which should have everything you need. The question is how constrained your tileset space is for each environment.
2. Ah, man, those NPC animations! Chrono Trigger sprites simply weren't meant for three-frame animation in many cases, and seeing them in motion here really brought that point home. Looks like you often had two frames flowing naturally, but then you'd have to skip a frame that was present in Chrono Trigger to maintain a three-frame animation limit. Is there any possibility of creating some kind of custom script to expand the number of frames per animation? If so, I think the game's aesthetic would improve considerably next time around.
The battle animations turned out very impressive for attacks (I love that sword dive in Crono's "Cyclone!"). I suspect making enemies animate in-battle isn't an option in RPGMaker currently, but is there anything you can do for the main characters' idle poses? It seemed to me that Marle animated much more smoothly than Crono or Frog do, because she gets three frames for her idle pose IIRC whereas Crono and Frog seem to have two.
3. Helpful gameplay tweaks I immediately saw the need for:
*Some NPCs move so fast they're difficult to catch up to. For example, I had a hilariously difficult time talking to that lady who offers Crono a free stay at her house in Sealo; it was literally a ten second game of cat-and-mouse for me. However, I don't recall having this problem with NPCs who are milling about around town -- could have something to do with their walk paths. The lady who took Crono in was walking and making turns rapidly, whereas outdoors NPCs seemed to be either stationary or at least had limited motion.
*I'd love to see dead time during battles eliminated completely -- too much time is spent waiting for a character's ATB to fill up , and I wonder if there's some way to make the battle engine jump to the next character or enemy's turn. Doesn't mean you necessarily have to have a non-ATB setup like Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy X; Xenogears had a most excellent compromise between ATB and battle speed. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6GIp5IV410) Maybe there's a battle speed option I skipped over that addresses this though.
I really enjoyed having USB game controller support! At least RPGMaker allows you that much.

Just to clarify when I go hunting for extra endings, are there four MORE endings once you start new game plus, or is it 3 new ones plus the normal ending you get from beating the game? Also, are any of the portals possible to miss permanently? Besides the first one at the start of the game obviously. There's one in the Prehistoric cave with Lucca and Robo. There's one in a mansion (Forget which one, I think it's Revar's). You can open it after you get the Epoch. The last one is in a cave just west of the Borean Region.
What problems are you having?
Darn it! I can't get it to play.
Well, this is embarrassing. Here we have everyone else commenting on the game dynamics and story line and everything else (including grinding, of all things), and here I am still trying to turn on the game console after I've inserted the disc.
One thing I do love about this game is that it is challenging me more than a normal game. I find myself using items out the ass and I have never done that in any other game. I don't actively avoid battles either so I am good in that regard...Nice. Has the game improved for you as it goes on?
I am on the Terra Tower right now. I had to shut it off mid-fight with motherbrain because well... brothers.
I look forward to hearing about it. :D
Actually (as it turns out), when I first downloaded it, the computer couldn't recognize it as a "valid win32 application". This was the result of downloading it from a computer different from my own.
So I downloaded to MY computer, and now it runs like clockwork.
Problem solved. Looking forward to commenting on it.
Just started playing. My inner English major is protesting loudly and insistently, but as I just "lost the game" (HA) I think I'll keep playing. I hope there are more things like that in there, that'll make it totally worth it!

... Eh? What gif?
Just started playing it and already at the first boss. What do I think so far?
- In battle, an animated gif for a hit is applied to "Miss".
- Is it constantly blustery in the forest level?
- The Cyclone Tech looks choppy.
- How can bats fly w/o flapping their wings?
- Would you like a script writer for your next RPG-making adventure?
It's only what I saw so far. Other than that, it's a great endeavor so far.
To be continued... Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!
For anyone who would like to do the alternate endings after beating the game, feel free to download my save file. I spent about 45 minutes grinding in what I call the Dino Cave.Shit, son.
Crono - lvl 95
Marle - lvl 99 (MAX)
Magus - lvl 65
Glenn - lvl 72
Lucca - lvl 75 (MAX)
Robo - lvl 75 (MAX)
Ayla - Not really useful without magic, so she's only level 33.
All characters have their best potential equipment on, magus is using the Magic Pendant. I have the epoch parked outside of the Revar mansion, which is where one ending is, the other one you can do is that island where the dude was talking about Zeal. After you beat one of them you can start another new game plus and do the ending at the beginning of the game and the one in prehistoric times, though I honestly don't think even at max level Lucca and Robo are strong enough to defeat the final boss by themselves. I have max of every item besides elixir and mega elixer. Enjoy!
SO many dead reptites lol.I should do a directors cut of CA and fix that. lol
I just did the ending at the start, that one was easier than I thought it would be, but then again Crono looks like Goku and he had over 9000! hp.I could have sworn I had fixed that and included Ayla in that fight...
The ending with just Lucca and Robo was insanely hard but totally worth it. Probably the best ending I've ever seen actually. I saw a brief glimmer of hope when Alya appeared next to them before the fight, but alas she was just standing there watching, and wasn't in the actual battle. Robo only had 4600 HP at max level so I had to put him in the back row. I almost lost several times the final boss used meteor followed immediately by blackhole, lucky me it missed every time (he did manage to kill me once though). Robo using shock actually made it possible to damage the top half somehow, and if I would've had Crono and company with me I would've seen how much HP you assigned to it haha.
One more to go!
Just finished the last ending, a very fitting close to the game. Great work.Thanks. I thought people would like the opportunity to play that boss.
Curious, perhaps its a resolution setting of mine. When i run this game, i have a flashing black bar going horizontally across my screen. Very annoying. Any suggestions? I tried taking a screen shot but the shots dont take the picture fast enough to catch it.You can change the resolution by hitting F5/F4. Try that.

Could you send me a more elaborate explanation via PM? I'd like to hear what you guys have to say so I can make the next game better.QuoteComment: Would you like a script writer for your next RPG-making adventure?

Even though I risk alienating myself in a community in which I have no footing or respect, I second this veiled suggestion. The plot isn't what I have a problem with, it's actually the language and characterization associated with the cast. Obviously there was a lot of effort put into this game, there is no question about that, however, it would have packed a stronger punch had there been more time spent on characterization. After all, a story is a good story when the characters are round enough to tell it, and so far, it's been mildly lackluster.
I'll do a full review upon completion, but it'll probably lend itself heavily to the English side of things.. And yes, English majors unite! Bwahaha. =D
wow this looks awesome i cant wait till i have time to play it!! i just saw the its trailer on YT:D
There is no easy way for me to put this and I've tried over a couple of days.I would stop working on that right now if I were you. Why, you ask? Because you'd be much more useful helping me with the sequel.
The skeleton of this project is greatly organized and I really enjoy CT in this engine.
The new battle effects are FANTASTIC!
Okay, so...I've been using RPG Maker for several years now and I...am HOPING I can help out
on this project.
I realize this has been released already, but in my mind it's CT DS all over again. It's a GOOD
start but this could be SO much more polished.
Here is the opening scene with a bit more of CT's map direction.

(I have never used image tags, so this might be embarrassing.

I've edited several maps and much of the dialogue.
I'm really sorry if this is offensive or if I'm overstepping boundaries, I just truly love the Chrono stories
and want the same level of quality for all releases.
I guess that's it from me now.
EDIT: Sorry, I should also have said that I'm willing to upload more pictures if they're wanted.
oh nice a sequel XDYeah, I was poking fun at Akira Toriama's art style. He can only draw six faces. XD
-------edit-----------edit----------edit---------
wow im an hour in and damn its awesome xD quick question in the 1st town is the goku the one i think he is XD where the nun mentions were he lies as in the DB goku? xD
I haven't played in awhile. That's life, I gotta get it going again here soon though. No rush man. How's Crystallis coming?
G4brial, I'm not sure why it does that. It just goes black, and that's it?
If you have RPG Maker 2003 on your computer, you should try opening it in Rm2k3. That might work.G4brial, I'm not sure why it does that. It just goes black, and that's it?
Yes! Just go black, like it's gonna start, but it dosent ='(
I've already used RPGM2003 in this computer, but not anymore, and aways worked fine. Just this time dosent work...
I'm having trouble with this one dungeon. I found two switches on the lowest level of this dungeon and pressed them both to proceed and entered a room where Lucca told me to check everywhere for switches. I got up to the next floor and was greeted to a blocked path. I went back down and searched for more switches but was unable to find any.Check the torches.
Okay, I just finished losing to the final boss with the Lucca/Robo combination for the second time. After it cast meteor on me twice in a row I gave up on winning that ending because that fight is unreasonably hard. Yes, I know there's a bug and Ayla should be there but I've given up on that thing. I beat the other endings and found only Crono's ultimate weapon, but I played a good chunk of the game.Heh, thanks for playing. With the game being a remake of my earlier, god-awful work, I used enough of a new story, but still manged to have it be a remake.
My thoughts on the game is that it's okay, but riddled with flaws. The story is okay, but it's lowered a lot by poor pacing and characterization. The whole "OMG LAVOS" at the beginning is an example of things happening on too grand a scale waaaaay too fast. There are certain plot moments in games that made me step back and go, "You know, this is pretty ridiculous." That moment was on the same level as the whole "I have an evil twin brother" thing in Final Fantasy XII and the whole "We're all from the same orphanage and the sorcress was our babysitter but we got amnesia from our summons" from Final Fantasy VIII. And yeah, Haste never working was annoying.
That said, I think there were some very cool parts of the game. I totally dug the first forest map and the 2300 AD map. The background music was pretty kickass throughout, and I did think the King Zeal boss fight was a pretty inspired move, and pretty awesome. Actually, all of the boss battles in the final dungeon were pretty awesome. The Magus fight was pretty cool too, but the whole "controlled by a magic spell" thing was on the same level of the other plot devices mentioned above.
The nice thing about Chrono Trigger/Cross is that with the whole "parallel dimension" thing, you can basically consider any fan work a form of canon in just another random parallel dimension. I think this is a nice contribution, but I'd reconmend making an updated version and fixing a few flaws. Also a cool idea would be an optional boss battle with Goku (unless there is one and I just didn't find it). At first the Goku's grave thing fell into "evil twin brother" category, but I thought to myself, "You know, that'd be an awesome boos battle.
To Lance: That ending was pretty awesome, though. The minute I heard it I knew it was gonig to be "that song". If the game was a C before, it just shot up to a B because of that. Pretty awesome.Know what's funny? That ending took a whole 10 minutes to code. XD
Shock actually decreases all monster stats. It completely ignores defense, so it can actually damage Schala.
After I used shock I was able to hurt schala with flare as well. Didn't try normal attacking her since I was battling for my life, but I thought about loading up another save and fighting her with Crono Glenn Robo Marle. How much HP did you give her?20,000.
I'm gonna try to kill her tomorrow, now that I know there is a set amount of HP.You should post a Youtube video of that.
Crikey, that was a freakin' tough last boss! Every time it cast "Meteor," I felt tempted to shake a fist and shout "LAAAAANCE!!" at the monitor. I'll get the ending up on Youtube soon for those who might be curious and don't mind lots of spoilers.Yes, it was indeed tough... But, it was also, dare I say, exciting? Heh. =P
Monster have no right to eat dreams!
Oh, I forgot to mention:I hated writing for Ayla. I could never really get her speech to really feel right. Regardless, I do like that line.Quote from: AylaMonster have no right to eat dreams!
That's possibly the best one-liner Ayla's ever had.
Alright I just killed her, nothing happened though just her sprite disappeared from the screen. Took me like 20 minutes to kill her though so I cut a lot of the movie out, basically just the beginning method and a few minutes before she dies. She kept using cure2 but it didn't stop robo's fists of fury. I couldn't get fraps to recognize my sound card so, just pretend you're hearing the lavos theme. :)I loled when I saw Meteor hit the field.

fixed the wierd sound problem, new character! DLC! updates! Bring it on!Well, the DLC will come with the update.
kudos to you good sir for creating this awesome game!
What does DLC stand for?Downloadable Content.
To be honest I never played a full RPG maker game, this will be definitely the first one I will try to.Hey, thanks! I'm honored! :D
Hey, why Lucca has more HP than Robo? That is strange. :PYeah, that's something I didn't fix. I'd have to alter a shitload of coding to fix it, some I'm just going to fix it in Chrono Echoes. It's an RPG Maker thing. Chrono Echoes won't have that problem.
Some minor problem: when you enter the world map, Crono changes his graphics to the small version, but there seems to be 1 frame delay that you can still see the big version. And in a rainy town, the rain effect has the same problem, I don't know whether it is a bug of RM.
Before I got on the ship after defeating Magus, I controled big Crono on the world map again...

Some minor problem: when you enter the world map, Crono changes his graphics to the small version, but there seems to be 1 frame delay that you can still see the big version. And in a rainy town, the rain effect has the same problem, I don't know whether it is a bug of RM.

"One year ago, Crono, Marle, and Lucca decided to change history. They traveled through time, overcame many obstacles, and defeated what we call 'Lavos'. Over the course of time, there were many casualties. One of them was Princess Schala of the Magical Kingdom, Zeal.
Now, in 1001 AD, the cogs of fate begin to turn once more. As Crono and Marle sit upon a mountaintop, they are drawn into a new world by what seems to be a resurrected Lavos.
After awaking in this new place, Crono realizes that Marle is no long with him. As his quest begins, he receives a letter from one who was thought to be dead.
He travels through this new land, meeting with his allies from across time, and he begins his quest to save time once more."
