Title: 1 year later
Post by: Shee on December 07, 2009, 03:40:51 pm
So I've been here for a year now.....what?  Pretty crazy when I look back....let's see...I was inbetween class sessions and I was 2 months into my stay in LA when I found this site.  Instantly got into hacking, and now since the C&D it's been quite the cahnge of gears, at least for me.  Hmmmm....since joining, I:

Found a new home
Had my best comedy show ever
Raising chickens
Robbed at gunpoint
"Vintage Shee" significant other moments
Signed with an agent
Came so close I could damn near taste a feature role in a feature length film, only to have dodged a massive bullet.
Came damn close to a national Arby's commercial
Finally got a handle on The Program That Must Not Be Named, even if it was a little late.
Massive improvement in guitar whilst maintaing already-established awesomeness on the drums.
Learned how independent ya gotta be to have success out here...here's to another year of mostly ups and less downs!

And it culminates with my firest ever voiceover audition today......sheeeeeit....living proof that if you can dream it, you can do it....that's all only a year...imagine what can be done in 5!  10!

Hey Shee, quick question...

Does your agent and/or agency cover screenwriters?

(congats on getting signed, by the way... I hadn't heard up until now!)

Looks like you've managed to make some inroads in what must be a brutally competitive field. That in itself is a testament to the human will, and who knows...that big break could come at any time, right?

Thanks all...and Boo, they don't cover writers, sorry.  Wish I could point ya in the right direction as to who to talk to out here, but alas I wouldn't know; a friend of mine might, I could ask if you like.

VO audition went well, we'll see how it goes.  Forgot to mention the Doritos spots for the Super Bowl (hopefully).  Got the link to 'em, just gotta get the ok on posting.

I had a friend (older than I, of course) who was trying to get his romantic comedy idea picked up in Hollywood. He did some groundwork and learned that the big opportunity for screenwriters is in networking (duh) and...parties. And the better looking your entourage or guests, the more likely someone will have a chat with you or take your script under advisement.

He found a couple of deadringing beauties (male and female) and set out. Not sure what became of him, though I could always ask.

Sounds like your future is very well planned out in the entertainment industry.  I hope someday to get there as a writer, because believe me when I say, they are a most underappreciated herd of workhorses.

Just out of curiosity, what's the voice audition for?  Radio show?  Animated series/feature?

Haha my entourage would be along the lines of "who let these yahoos in here?  at least they're funny..."

And I for got to answer that the VO was for some trucker video game.  The details were hazy at best and no word sooooooo........yea....
