Title: CuteLucca Auctions CT Collection
Post by: ZeaLitY on June 25, 2009, 07:15:08 pm
CuteLucca will be auctioning her entire Chrono Trigger collection starting Sunday on Ebay. She'll be selling it as one big package with 'Buy It Now' only, so if you want a smorgasbord of Chrono Trigger you might start calling in favors and pooling your money with friends. Here's what's in:

Original boxed ROM cartridge
The Shounen Jump boxed game
Sheet music
The 3 Japanese players guides
Keychain set (CT and CC)
Holographic trading card set
Packaged cards
7 soundtrack CDS
Famicom version of the game
Japanese Playstation version of the game
Chrono Cross Square Millennium Collection
Chrono Cross clock with box
Chrono Cross 'Missing Piece' guide
16 Doujinshi
Set of my original fan art for the game
1995-96 Nintendo Power magazines dealing with CT
plus more I've likely forgotten...

She speaks, "I'm going to be asking $1500 for the whole set. This is an unbelievable collection and I still to this day think it's the most complete CT collection out there. I would like to see it move to a good home in a complete set since I worked so hard gathering it all together. Sadly times are tough for me financially and luxuries are the first to go, plus I've stepped out of the fandom for some time now and it would be a shame not to see this all go to someone more active in the community."

The Chrono Compendium would like to ask the winner if they can scan the doujinshi for the site, as well as the 1995 store display poster if it appears in the collection. I think we've pretty much got the rest scanned, although the Millennium Collection might have something in it we don't have an image of, maybe. (Wow, I'm getting rusty.) Here you go:

That's quite the collection.

I think I only have like half the total money. Even so, I'm not planning in getting it, but I can still see why one would want it badly.

That's neat and sad. CuteLucca has as far as I remember always been a staple member of the Chrono community...No matter where the Chrono hub has been over the years (well, before the Compendium it was more or less floundering around), most people were bound to know of her...I hope the financial troubles aren't too bad and that some day she comes back to us. That sounds weird...>_>

$1500? Not bad, considering how much other, less valuable, crap gets sold for on Ebay.

I think it's kind of dumb to keep it all together. If she really needs the money, she'll sell it separately. I don't know anybody that would spend that much on Chrono stuff all at once.

However, I do find it amusing that if you had 100 of them, it would be a familiar price...

I hear ya man...I mean $1500? I'm sure there are Chrono fans that would spend that much, but are there fans that would and could spend that much?
Title: Re: CuteLucca Auctions CT Collection
Post by: CuteLucca on June 25, 2009, 11:34:10 pm
I'm trying to sell it at once so it stays together.  This was three years worth of collecting for me plus way more $$$ than this total auction is going for (I paid $300 each for the ROM and the SJ cartridge plus about $25 per doujin, about $250 on card lots, shipping, countless other ebay auctions and expenses, etc. etc. etc.) and it could potentially save someone a lot of work gathering stuff up.  I understand $1500 is hard to come by this day and age but that is the honest value of the collection.

If you see something you want but don't want to buy everything in one go, keep your eyes on this thread-- after a week if nobody buys it I'll start splitting it up into lots:

1. ROM cartridge
2. SJ cartridge
3. All CT Keychains
4. All Doujinshi
5. 3 J Players guides
6. Chrono Cross lot (Millennium collection, guide, keychains, clock)
7. All Collector cards
8. All soundtrack CDs
9. Catch-all lot for leftover items

Thanks for your interest.  I'll still always love CT of course, dont get me wrong, but my life and my career have moved in a different direction in the last few years.  Financial troubles arent going to kill me, Im not starving-- but I'm trying to gather as much $$ as I can for a big move I'm planning to a different part of the country.

That's an awesome collection. There are actually CT and CC trading cards? And they're holographic? That's pretty nice. Even though I wouldn't be able to use them for anything, the keychains might also be interesting to see.

Good luck, CuteLucca. I can understand why you'd want to keep this collection together...some of these items sound spectacular--I didn't know there was a Chrono cross clock AND a box. Shit, whoever gets this collection is quite lucky...hell dropping the dough shows their luck anyway.

That is an impressive price tag for an impressive collection...unfortunately, as an income-less student, it's beyond my reach.  :(   If the collection does get broken up, though, I would definitely try my luck.

I was looking through the old Nintendo Power previews and was amused by this:
Quote from: Nintendo Power article
People will have been replaced with strange, gremlin-folk, and many of your weapons will no longer have much effect on creatures. You'll see changes like this throughout the game because your meddling in time alters the course of events.
That really misrepresents what's going on.

Gaspar: Due to alternations you've made in the timeline, swords no longer work.

Fighter: DO NOT WANT !!

Black Mage: How is that even possible? Sharp pointy object...delicate mortal flesh...should work like a charm!

Red Mage: Maybe in this timelime, nobody has hands for holding swords.

Thief: What could we have done in the past to cause that?

Gaspar: I seem to remember you stealing the Planet's lunch. Maybe the Planet, instead of cutting off your hands, cut off everyone's hands.

Black Mage: That would be Darwinianly righteous.

Thief: But we still have our h--OH MY GOD !!

Everyone: AAH !!

Black Mage: My hands! My beautiful, untainted hands!

Red Mage: I really hope that lunch was worth it, Thief.

Thief: Actually I forgot it in 65,000,000 BC. It's probably spoiled by now.

Black Mage: I would stab you so hard if only I still had my hands.

Red Mage: Maybe you could hold the knife in your teeth.

Thief: Hey! Whose side are you on?

Gaspar: *gets on the phone* Yes, is Crono there? Oh, hello. How are you? ... Fine, fine. ... With your shoulder, eh? ... Yeah, so, anyway...I guess you know why I'm calling...

I think it's talking about stuff like the Shadow creatures in the future which have to be Slash or Flame Toss'd...at least, those are the first monsters I can recall where physical attacks don't do anything...Perhaps this was someone's first playthrough, didn't play all of it, thought the game had a Grandfather's Paradox because of the whole Marle situation and then thought they had caused the destroyed future somehow...?

Okay, lol, I'm going to forego the one single auction (as I'm almost 99% certain I wont be able to sell it all at once) and go for a series of individual auctions and save myself the ungodly Ebay fee for listing a $1500 auction.  TOMORROW I will be getting them all up on Ebay.  I will be posting the listings here in this thread, so for those of you who just wanted the Doujinshi, keychains, or other individual items, here's your chance!

Don't act like you don't like it.

But seriously, most countries are a bit more mature than the old U.S.A. when it comes to anatomy and the human figure. Also, in Japan, unlike America, there is a HUGE market for adult oriented animation. Here it's just a few shows (South Park, Simpsons, Family Guy, Adult Swim seems to enjoy the genre). There it's shows, movies, comics, advertisement, merchandise, clothing, etc. And there's bound to be some sexual stuff mixed in all that.

In other words, they make Hentai for the same reason porn directors make porn films. $$$$$.

even though since it is just a drawing, it is not porn? so real photos of nudists can be porn right? And that hentai was so full of STD's!

A ROM cartridge is a removable cartridge that contains read-only memory devices and, commonly, flash memory devices to allow some read-write capability. A ROM cart can be a video game played on a video game console or different software programs run within a general purpose computer. This system was popularized by early home computers such as the Atari 400/800 and Commodore 64, where a special bus port was provided for the insertion of cartridges containing software in ROM.

No, no, no.  Its not ROM as in 'illegally pirated game' its ROM as in 'the base game files from the preproduction phase'  the ROM cartridge I have is an OFFICAL CT ITEM released by Square to stores in Japan for people to play to try out the game.  It's basically the store display model of the game, and it has a TON of really interesting differences from the final cartridge.

You actually think I'd be trying to sell a pirated game cart for $200???

And on top of that, even if the pirated game was being sold, who in their right mind would advertise it here? Holy shit, the ROM cart is one of the greatest collector's items I've heard of...

It only takes one to misunderstand and go bonkers over a non-issue. The Compendium has had enough of that lately, I'm sure.

Right you are: thankfully CuteLucca explicitly stated that this is something different. Hopefully no one will waltz around thinking that people here are selling anything pirated.

Too true.  I know ROM has multiple meanings this day and age.  Just rest assured, everything is perfectly legal.

Weird how I never heard this term before. I also never read anything about it in compendium. Anywhere where I can read the differences?

From the description, it sounds like the Pre-release.

Didn't you say in the auction that it's rarer than the pre-release?

I said that the Shonen Jump cartridge is rarer than the prerelease, yes. I have both it and the prerelease cart on Ebay.  Honestly, did you even read the auction listings??

As for the differences between the ROM and the final version, Im not sure if there's a hardware difference (I never cracked open the cartridge to check) but I assume there's at least moderate differences there.  Big differences are in the software of the game itself, but as was posted earlier there's a whole huge section of the Compendium devoted to that.

What an amazing collection--I'm gonna try and gather up some quick cash to buy something.

If I didn't read them, it would be kind of hard for me to say that in the first place, now wouldn't it? >_>

I had simply messed up a little.

I guess I better get scanning. n_n

Oh, it also appears I now have a duplicate of one of the doujinshi... what to do with it... hmm...

^ Oh you're the one who bought the doujinshi collection? I wanted like... one of them lol.

It looks like the auction has turned out very well. Seems like almost everything has already been sold at the "buy it now" price.

The keychains looked really cute. I wanted one of them too! I wish someone would make some more : ).

I got the 3-disc Chrono Trigger OSV.

It wasn't all that hard to get, and the music & quality is just outright fantastic.
