Post by: Agent 12 on June 03, 2009, 03:15:08 am
What was everyone's favorite era in Chrono Trigger?

psssst -- the answer's "12,000BC."

You'd never know Zeal's midnight skyline is actually a spell from Romancing SaGa III, eh? Heheheh.

It truly was.  Hell, the entire atmosphere of Zeal in that scene was amazing.  Also, please tell me they forcefully go to the end of time to talk to gaspar or something.  By like, stacking 4 people into the chamber to cause themselves to get sent to the point of least resistance.  Honestly, A CT game would not be a CT game, without Gaspar and Spekkio.  It just wouldn't.  Also, I made a playlist for you guys, just to make viewing the videos that much more enjoyable :)

I don't think it made it into the game, but the Temporal Catch was supposed to run off COT. And as you may have noticed, nothing went wrong when Crono, Marle, Lucca, and the Porre agent went to 1005 A.D.

Haha! I knew you guys would find a way to stick in 12, 000 BC somehow! And I'm glad you did.

i think the chamber works a little differently besides the epoch can go to the end of time still

OF COURSE!!!  THE EPOCH!!!  Also, I don't care if they don't go to the end of time.  But we need Gaspar.  I may have to boy cott this game (Momentarily of course xD) if I find out Gaspar was not included.  Anywho, I should get to bed.  god dammit it's only wednesday -.- anyway, night everyone.

In Chapter 2 they explain how the temporal catch grabs people going through portals.  That's what is stopping them from going to the end of time.

For now......

(shuts mouth)

EDIT: CEMemorial has a playlist Mikisho but more than one doesn't hurt. Though I would like to publicly endorse this one (I think it has stat tracking) http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=E952926C2A6E7039  You can get to it from the CEMemorial's profile.

ohhh... durr xD. I forgot to look in the playlist section xD.  I'm used to people putting their playlist on their main profile page.  So yeah, Forget about mine xD Use theirs, If you are like me and haven't yet XP.  Anywho....  they should break the catcher system thinger....  so they can go to the end of time xD.

The next update will have best chapter that Faustwolf mentioned. Oh yeah. I eagerly waiting for it!
Gah, the Zeal part is awesome, but need lighter lol

To Miki,
The Dispatch Chamber hold an important roles on CE, it can go anywhen (time travel  term :P)
rather than specific era using E-poch. Thus the game plot is easier to be created.

Yeah, the full Temporal Catch explanation didn't make it in to the game, but this doesn't apply in this case anyway because Crono, Marle, Lucca and the Porre Agent are all from the same era. They wouldn't have ended at the End of Time:

Quote from: Gaspar, CT Retranslation
When you enter a space-time distortion
with four or more people who live in different
   times
, the dimensional field distorts......

   However, there are many space-time
   distortions in this place.
There are even those who, like you, appear
   here aimlessly......

Perhaps something is exerting an effect on all
   of time......
Quote from: Gaspar, CT DS
When four or more entities of varying origins enter a temporal rift
together, the torsion exerted on time's flow pushes them to the point
of least resistance: here. There have been a number of folks turning
up here unintended recently like yourselves. I fear something is
having a powerful effect on the very fabric of time.

Damn! Fantastic! Although I couldn't play CE I'm glad I got to watch it. ROFL Glenn rules!

But what I liked most among all was Alphard Zeal. xD He's come out fantastic!

What I HATED most though (no offense) was Magus crying like a baby. But then again that's the only thing I hated about CE. Meh...

When CE was first conceived, Schala was meant to become playable.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww

This brings me to the one thing I would martyr myself for. If I ever do a Chrono Trigger ROM hack, and I make Schala playable, and Square sends a C+D letter, I absolutely guarantee I'd ignore it and go forward anyway. I'd literally throw my life away to see Schala playable in some form in some game, she's one of my top five fictional characters of all time.

Call me crazy, but I swear to God I totally would.

A couple of us had a decent Playable Schala in the works--it was going pretty well too...but, alas, that's neither here nor there.

Thanks! These videos have kept me awake at work for the past few days!

So I guess the current theory is that the dreamstones and the frozen flame are totally separate objects, a.k.a. the frozen flame isn't just a lavos corrupted dreamstone, but an actual piece of lavos. Can't wait to see how it ends up being the power source for Chronopolis!

Said the same thing about Crimson Echoes......that was before the 150,000 dollar threat on a document with my name and address on it.

I should have mentioned this earlier, but the nighttime effect for 12,001 BC was magnificent--very well done. Seeing Zeal at night was such a great treat.

It's funny watching the views for these videos.  I expected a huge spike for video 1, and then dwindling down, but it's more a huge spike dwindle, spike, dwindle spike, dwindle spike...

It looks like people are just watching the latest versions for each update. That doesn't even seem like it'd be fun??

I'm wondering if people are subscribed.....see I updated and assumed that I only added one video? So they just watch the last one?

Subscribing doesn't do anything.  Because all these videos were uploaded on May 21st it seems.  Atleast youtube is saying they are.  So if that is the case, and you are just making the videos public, then subscribers will not get a notification of the video.  Atleast I don't believe they would.  I shall experiment and get back to you with a definite answer.  But I'm pretty sure subscribing does nothing.

*EDIT*

mmmkay, I just found out you can subscribe to the playlist xD.  So again, if anyone here is like me, subscribe to the playlist if you haven't to get the updates on youtube xD.  Not that you really need them if you're coming here everyday...

Okay since people might not be aware that there is a playlist I went ahead and edited all the video links on the front page so that each video switches to the next one automatically.

Also a neat trick with YouTube is that adding &fmt=18 to URLs makes them play in HQ, even for videos that don't have the "HQ" button on them. For the ones we're uploaded the difference in quality isn't that noticeable but supposedly it's still better.

When did the Ocean Palace Incident happen in that timeline?

When did the Ocean Palace Incident happen in that timeline?

Mmh, which timeline? The party members don't actually affect the Dark Ages much in these videos, apart from making Zeal remove the Masamune in 11,995 B.C.

12,001 B.C. - The king has just died and construction of the Ocean Palace begins. The party arrives here to retrieve some documents by Belthasar.
12,000 B.C. - The Ocean Palace is destroyed (the Black Omen rises but falls back into the sea).
11,995 B.C. - Magus faces Dalton. The party explores the ruins of the Ocean Palace.

Ahh, I see.
I thought the incident happened around 11995 B.C. in the video because Magus met Shala there.

Yeah, I must have missed some dialogue. Thanks.
 But  the video really didn't make me think the incident actually happened 5 years before, when Magus met Shala, it was like the scene was fozen in time.
Title: Re: The Month That Could Have Been -- Chapter 5

12,000 B.C. - The Ocean Palace is destroyed (the Black Omen rises but falls back into the sea).

12,001 B.C. - The king has just died and construction of the Ocean Palace begins. The party arrives here to retrieve some documents by Belthasar.

So...The Ocean Palace is destroyed a year before construction begins and it's already destroyed six years before it's built? In this case...

11,995 B.C. - Palace is ruined

12,000 B.C - Palace is destroyed and somehow becomes ruins a year earlier...?

12,001 B.C - Palace is built...after being destroyed and becoming ruins...

Say what? Run that by me again?

Katie Skyye, the CE team is assuming that the B.C. time scale in Chrono Trigger runs like it does in the Gregorian Calendar: when you're in B.C., you're counting backward, not forward. Thus, 11,995BC is 5 years after the events of Chrono Trigger and 1005AD is 5 years after the events in Chrono Trigger.
Title: Re: The Month That Could Have Been -- Chapter 5
Post by: Lenophis on June 04, 2009, 01:24:14 am
And that's the safest assumption of all time, if you look at the clock in the original game (65,000,000 BC -> 12,000 BC -> 600 AD -> 1000 AD -> 1999 AD -> 2300 AD -> end of time).
