I believe he was talking about masa and mune being separate from the sword, when in fact, them and the sword are one and the same.

Yes the seperation from the sword allowed their spirit to be taken over by ozzie. He is much more powerful in his spells than in fighting.

he wasn't asking about what the separation did, he was asking how it was possible that they were separated.

Ozzie seperated them. The Masamune power weakened due to this... pity I never could explain that.
