Title: Support CE! Here are some guidelines.
Post by: ZeaLitY on May 08, 2009, 04:27:01 am
Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes is nearing, and to full off full fanfare, we need some awesome banners, signatures, buttons, wallpapers, and other kinds of images. These can be posted around the net or used as signatures by any Chrono fan, and they'll also be hosted on www.crimsonechoes.com on a special promotional page.

There's some art attached to this post that you can use for your work. If you need inspiration, watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMrbvCGyCKM&fmt=18

Guildelines

Good luck! An example of the best work from the last time we solicited help:

Mine aren't particularly impressive, but whatever.

EDIT: And a wallpaper, in 1280x800 and 1024x768

I like that top banner Mav. Very stylish. Zephira, I need to shoop your image into the next trailer somehow.

Heh, the miracles of Photoshop--making things look nice with less effort.

I also went ahead and made some avatar-sized images, for whoever wants 'em.

One wallpaper, 1280x800.

Really nice. Somehow the inner circle looks a bit like the cross-section of a tomato though. But the overall picture is great.

One wallpaper, 1280x800.
..the wonderful, beautiful frozen flame... I want it.. I must have it!....

...NO! I... I cannot let its beauty get to me!  Behind that beautiful facade lies the soul of a demon!

...but I'm sure it wouldn't affect me if I got a replica on a necklace, no? hahaha

Its WONDERFUL Zephira =D

You know what, Zephira, you should make a 100x100 cut of the Frozen Flame from your wallpaper--it'd make a phenomenal avatar. Or don't whatever.

Would any submissions require the raw materials provided, or could they be more original? I'd love to try my photoshoppin hand at a couple banners and wallpapers.

Post by: mav on May 09, 2009, 12:44:25 am
I don't see why not--Zephira's didn't rely on the materials provided as much as I did. Mine weren't too creative, since I just tried to shoot out images quickly, but you have artistic prowess, right? Use that prowess: the more creative, the better.

Dawwww! It's a brand new game, guys! Or at least it's a facelift of an old game. XDDD So shouldn't it shine with all its glory with brand new art instead of the old SE used Toriyama art?

Although I'm a lil busy with the animation work, job and with my book I'll be happy to make some artwork for Crimson Echoes. I'll post some drawings soon. =D

Thank you, FaustWolf =)

And tushantin, some new art would be awesome. Can't wait to see it  :D.

That's what I was saying. They're not using Toriyama art for the menu faces, right? Why use it to advertise the game.

I've been thinking the same thing. If I could draw by hand then I'd have used originals, otherwise I'd have to resort to ripping off people's fan art (which is so damn tempting, given the quality of some of the art out there). But for now I'll just stick to stealing Toriyama's shit.

As for the artwork for CE, does anybody have some concept artworks or references to the important characters and the "antagonist" of CE? Do note me if it needs to be confidential. XD

EDIT: Does anyone know how to pose in 3DsMax? I officially suck at drawing... My skills are fading into oblivion.

Just a guess pose of Crono.

Have there been any sprites of the new main characters for CE released to the public? If so, I'd like to try and do something like this (http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php/topic,7316.0.html) with them... give it a nice epic, mythic feel.

I would, but as of recent my artwork has come out crumey (If I had them the first thing to do...Chibi Lavos...back on subject) I don't have the new art myself or I would, but why doesn't soemone make plesent Avatars out of the new menu pictures?

The new menu pictures are by Cute Lucca, right? I would rip 'em and make avatars, but it kinda makes me feel like I'd be stealing...and unless I get the okay, I'd rather not.

CuteLucca did the one for Prophet's Guile, and that was really just a resize and recoloration of one of her full-color works. Another really superb fan artist did the ones for CE.
Title: Re: Support CE! Here are some guidelines.
Post by: mav on May 09, 2009, 11:01:51 pm
Oh, is that right? I could have sworn I saw screens that were of Cute Lucca's art, but I'm beginning to think that that may have have been a different hack or something.

Anyhow, cool cool. Hopefully more people will start submitting art; more distinct art and art styles will reflect well on this endeavor.

Hey, I don't know where to put this or if this is checked. I've been on this forum for 2 days now. I do want to say that crimson echoes is my favorite game. I think that it's as good as Chrono Trigger, if not better. After I played it I was blown away. What was more impressive was when I was told it was basically constructed by 3 people on a budget of 0$.

So I say thank you, Zeality, Chrono99 and Agent12 and whoever else helped out. Since playing it I have sent numerous threats to Sony, Squaresoft, you name it, in protest of how they tried to kill off your frankly beautiful work. I personally am against most BS copyright laws, and I actually did print out the C&D letter and used it as toilet paper. What you created will only grow the brand and encourage people like me to buy actual copies of their wii and playstation downloadable virtual console emulator roms. I'm surprised Square didnt offer to take the game for free and let others play it, as your work does not rob them of any money, on the contrary, it helps fans get excited about the original game. You made what they wont, their loss.

I thought Crimson Echoes was awesome, and if you ever need anyone to host any varient of the game or any of its content, I'm happy to as I'm flat broke and no one would dare sue me cause you can't get blood from a stone. If I can do anything to thank anyone here, let me know. Thank you for the memories and one more fuck you to Square and their scum suckin lawyers.

Redline, I LOVE your post! I just started playing it myself and I am LOVING this game! I seriously want it to never end. I too, would like to thank the people who made this game and I feel that square should have paid you guys to work for them and released it. However, that didn't happen, but you guys still turned out a GREAT product. Thank you!!
