Title: Compendium & Chrono Break
Post by: Cliftor on January 23, 2004, 12:27:27 am
My premonition (or hope) for Chrono Break is a more down to earth universe.  Taking up where Cross left off, it may contain dimensional travel or time travel, but these plot devices would be non-commital. I belive they can continue the use of these complex premises without necessarily making a complex plot.  Hopefully Break will explore loose ends and feature teh reapperence of many missing faces from Cross; I picture a plot revolving around atonement, with Schala as the main character, and her quest to mend the wrongs and heal the wounds her actions in Trigger caused once and for all (complete with reunions with Chrono, Serge, and Magus).  A loaded wish, but its just a wish.

A cool idea form Chrono Brake would be breaking the fourth wall
Example, the game takes place in the future, and a man is working on a super computer, when suddenly it goes berserk and takes control of the lab, the man realizes he must destory it, but he can;t just dismantle it, so he uses a device that lets him go into the machine itself and thus he enters a strange world inside, he now has to go between the real world and the fake and destroy the super computer.

nightmare975, a lot of that just sounds like the plot (or at least part of it) of 2001: A Space Odyssey...Plus, I'm as tired of freaky, berserk supercomputers being bosses as I am of Lavos...

Also, it looks aweful bad for Ybrik's prophecy...

Well, there has to be something about some sort of "Break". In CT we "Triggered" events which made Cross. Cross had to with "Crossing" dimensions. Could this have possibly "Broken" time/dimensions/existence in some way?

That's why I said "breaking" the 4th wall.

I think "Chrono Break" actually refers to what the Dream Tream has been doing for the past five years.

Not necessarilly, since Chrono Break, the NA copyrighted (or was it trademarked? i get those confused) name has been dissolved. We're left w/the Japanese Kurono/Chrono Brake.

Also, I was comparing this part to 2001: A Space Odyssey...

That has Hal 9000 written all over it.

Oh! You mean brake like a car? Then maybe it has something to do with time coming to complete stop.
