Title: Patch Builds
Post by: ZeaLitY on February 14, 2009, 07:03:30 am
As the team fixes bugs and implements planned ideas, new patches will be posted here. You're encouraged to save your game with a hard save (meaning, using Chrono Trigger's actual saveram function), then apply a new patch before continuing to test. Using a savestate across patches deosn't always work, because Temporal Flux moves exit data that sometimes traps you in locations if you revive a savestate from a prior version in a new build.

And we're off. Good luck.

New patch. This is a simple polishing of something late in the game; probably no one has reached that part yet.

Damn, this caused another bug to show up. I'm removing this patch, sorry.

Fixed the King Guardia freeze reported by Justin.

Fixed the Chapter 16 show stopper.  i personally played this patch from chapter 16 to the end of the game.  There is one more pretty bad bug in the final chapter so I would only play this up until the final chapter of the game (you should be able to tell).

I made enemies that I have heard being whispered around this forum easier.  I was able to just hold down attack in the first chapter of the game and kill two beasts with a magus who had never levelled up.
Fixed several bugs that people have been mentioning, many of them were cosmetic like screen transitions, placeholder text being found etc.

NOTE:  Incase you guys don't know you can still use youd old save data with the new patch.  If you are using zsnes automatic patching just name this ips file the same as your SMC, if you are hard patching it just back up your old SMC, patch a fresh rom with this patch and name it the same as your old file ( i.e. it should be the same name as your .srm file).

NON CRITICAL UPDATE:

I've decided to post some of the internal builds here more often (maybe every other day).  However if you really don't want to you don't have to go to the new build.  It'd be nice cause sometimes you may post a bug that has been fixed in a later patch.  There are no showstoppers in this update....well....actually i guess V found one in the auction house but nothing that makes it so you can't finish the game.  This is mainly just dialogue/map tweaks.

NON CRITICAL UPDATE:

Fixed some bugs Radical and V reported
Fixed year that is shown in corner of OW if you don't move
Added a sprite for chapter 17
Fixed a bug in chapter 17 that makes it look weird but isn't a show stopper.

CRITICAL UPDATE:

Three showstoppers are fixed in this patch.

Trying out coliseum full party caused the game to freeze (though it was randomly...shrug)
One of the mystic dens was not escapable due to a map clean up I did
If you timed it right you could escape the 12K raft leaving you stranded.

Other minor bugs have been fixed.

NON CRITICAL UPDATE:

Well unless you hit the bug Lenophis is hitting where every time you return to 605 Frog's blood gets pounding and he forces himself into the party...in that case this is a critical update.

Besides that just fixed a bunch o bugs that got mentioned here.

CRITICAL UPDATE (kind of strong wording but a showstopper is fixed)

Show stopper in mystic tunnel if you attack the enemies in the middle section, of the middle room, from the top haha.

Bunch of other minor bugs too.

Fixed the bug reported by Lenophis which was causing a character to vanish during the party split in the final dungeon.

Each patch contains all subsequent patches, right? No need to download earlier ones if you've downloaded the most recent?

yea they build on each other, you only need the latest.

--JP

EDIT: and teh patch should be applied to a FRESH CT rom  (i.e. on that has never been patched before)

There's nothing major in this patch just some small stuff but I'm going away for the weekend so I won't be able to update for awhile.

Hopefully if there's some showstoppers reported (which there haven't been any in awhile *knocks on wood*) then Chrono'99 or Zeality can get to them.  I'll also have a computer...but i'm not making any promises :)

--JP

P.S. Lord J, hopefully this time I got that darn healing spring right :) If it's still broken I'm going to say it broke when lavos knocked it out of the sky haha.

Luckily I'm posting a new one.

I didn't knock on wood hard enough apparantly because Lenophis posted a show stopper :(

I had a stray go to for the Emerald dream interludes + I was loading the "epoch" character instead of magus....doh....

--JP

P.S. Lenophis if you on let me know if the download is still crapping out on you.

NON CRITICAL UPDATE

The only real reason i'm posting it here is cause there's some new enemy AI in this patch.

CRITICAL UPDATE:

Fixed show ruiner where ayla decides she doesn't like the party anymore and leaves after the flame dungeons :-/  you can get her back by just  continuing the game and he'll tag along again for the final dungeon haha.  Maybe you can even go back to her hut and she comes back...

Or you can just use the patch before the flame dungeons.

ANOTHER CRITICAL UPDATE:

Sorry for posting these so often but I'm doing my beta playthrough and finding some show stoppers.  You can dodge these show stoppers though so it's up to you...well one is during the ending so you can't dodge that, another is if you trigger the acid battle in the lucca/robo chapter.

another is if you trigger the acid battle in the lucca/robo chapter.
Which one? There's two at the Huacan Factory entrance, and neither of those froze it up.

It was a bug I caused when I fixed another bug :-/.  I added a scroll screen to the one on the left w/o realizing that the one on the right was sharing code with it.  So triggering a battle with the one on the right caused the screen to scroll way out of the way.

CRITICAL UPDATE IF YOU SLEEP IN CHORAS

Zephira found a show stopper so you guys get a new patch.  This patch has several several non critical changes including 10 new game+ endings. Plus as a bonus since I'm currently debugging them you can access any ending at any time. Act now because soon I'll be removing that test hook!

Assuming there's not something catastrophic with this patch  this will be the final CE Beta patch posted while the CE Dream team puts final touches on the rom before release.

Thanks for helping everyone and stay tuned for the wild ride ahead!
