Title: Welcome to Kajar Laboratories! [ATTACHMENTS POSTED]

Welcome to Kajar Laboratories. This forum has been established for everyone who loves the Chrono series and wishes to build on it or celebrate it; feel free to post works in progresses of fanfiction, fan projects, music -- anything. Commentary and helpful criticism will be given. Be sure to check out others' works, and enjoy visiting the forge of Chrono series fan works!

Kajar Laboratories Membership

If you'd like to officially "join" the Kajar Laboratories, there are a few ways. Members get a special rank called "Architect of Kajar" that reflects participation in fan project making or ROM hacking. Participation is key, with entry granted after a contribution, either a personal work or assistance with the to-do list. This rank grants this image to members:

If you would like to join, apply in this thread with your technical contribution. Tackling the to-do list below is really appreciated; for instance, with tracking down NPC animations, it's fine to do a few NPCs. If you've contributed before and aren't an Architect of Kajar (and want to be), post here as well.

Kajar Laboratories To-Do List

Need a Fan Project Forum?

If you're undertaking a large fan work and would like a forum for your team to communicate within, PM ZeaLitY or FaustWolf and a group/forum private to your project team will be created. Be sure to include this information:

The project forum may be denied if it doesn't meet the following criteria. A project must have:

RULES FOR FORUMS

Fan Project forums are granted in good faith to fan project creators in the interest of bringing new work to the Chrono series community. However, so that the forums do not become inflated with vaporware forums, a few requirements must be met.

-If no posts or progress are made for one month, the project is moved to the Stalled and Abandoned parent board.
-If your project seems hopelessly dead or abandoned, it will be moved to the Darkness Beyond Time parent board.

Fan Project Page Listing Requirements

To be listed on the Fan Projects page (http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Fan_Projects.html), a project must be viable. There is no good reason for posting and announcing fan projects that will never get done, thus leading poor fans on to eventual disappointment. Viability certification happens through a vote of the administrators plus the moderator of Kajar Laboratories. To be a viable, a project must have:

Hi, I'm Dario Melo, and I'm from Chile (South America).
I'm new here, but I visited this page since almost 2 years...

I'm a great fan of the Chrono series (specially Chrono Trigger), and I want to make a game modification of CT. It will be a game of Glenn...
I downloaded all the modification programs that are in this page.
I would need some help in this project, so I want a Project Forum to contact people who wants to help me...
Please!!! I'm a starting "programmer", so I don't think I can do it alone...
I want to make a good game...

Well, thanks...
:P

MR. DARIUS

PD: I'm a music remixer too... :D

I wonder if we should have some kind of logo for Kajar Laboratories. Almost, sleek, corporate...but definitely Chrono.

Maybe something involving the vectorized frozen flame I did a while ago?

I attached a stamp-ified version that might be kinda cool.

With your permission, may I use it for a logo?

Maybe also include a quote if possible.

Dude, those logos are awesome. One suggestion for AlphaShero -- could you replace the "Formulating Entertainment" subtitle with the "Dream. Create. Inspire." Kajar Labs subtitle BROJ suggested? Methinks it would be utter perfection in graphical form.

Also, where can we find the Chrono "C"? Is there a blank uncolored one (with just the clock and uncolored C-shape) laying around anywhere?

Personally I think "Dream. Create. Inspire." is very cliché. I makes it sound more like a high school project. Not the professional quality your going for. Anyway not here to judge.  Enjoy.

Suh-weeet, thanks for the Chrono "C" AlphaShero!

It might just be me, but I still absolutely adore the "Dream * Create * Inspire" subtitle. It captures the essence of what fanworks are all about. We dream, create, and inspire others to do the same. And sometimes get Cease & Desist letters.

No truer words have been spoken.  But the good news is - so far they're leaving the 2D fan games alone!

Beautiful work.  The Crimson Echoes logo, although it may not be used, is quite lovely as well.

Thanks; I've been meaning to reply to this thread. Can you also submit the two versions of the Kajar Laboratories banner without the Dream / Create / Inspire tagline, and the thin line above it? The Kajar with just the Frozen Flame seems to have such potential and institutional power...

Well, sorry to nitpick. I'm curious what that would look like.

Agreed! All of those pictures you guys have made are really cool. I really like the PSP boxes, though. ;) I really do feel like buying them! Haha. Oh, and good luck on Crimson Echoes, can't wait to play it. (Chrono Cross really does need a "connection game" to Chrono Trigger... It has very loose connections as it is, which is a pity. We all know that Square hates the Chrono series, though, so I'm sad to say that it's expected of them to be sloppy in some areas. Sigh. :( Oh well) Can't wait to see the Kajar Labratories logo in action! ;) And I think the "dream, create, inspire" thing is fine.

The dead projects are just so depressing. I would like it better if they were removed. With the exception of things like CTR and such.

Kajar labs lives again!

So, I was curious how much of the to-do list on the first page still needs to be done?:

Kajar Laboratories To-Do List

  • Translate the Character Library - http://ryoga.heypoorplayer.org/chrono/bschar_dump.php
  • Finish Radical Dreamers stuff - Someone needs to quantify Radical Dreamers event and monster damage and affection event points by keeping track of the HP and affection point totals while playing through the game. Someone can also rip the sounds of the game, perhaps using Demiforce's tools to create scenarios where all sounds are played in succession.
  • Rip the Mode 7 graphics from Chrono Trigger - Yep,  simple. Extract all the Mode 7 sprites from Chrono Trigger. No one's done it yet...
  • Track down NPC and PC animations - NPCs and PCs have animations in Chrono Trigger, but presently not all of them are documented. With more animation documentation comes greater freedom in editors to animate characters in ROM hacks. Check this thread (http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php/topic,2006.0.html) for a list of NPC animations already found.
  • Import original music from RS3 - A tool from this site (http://saga.no.land.to/upload.cgi) allows one to import Music Macro Language files to Romancing SaGa 3. As you may now, RS3 music files can also be imported to Chrono Trigger, and utilities exist to convert MIDI to MML. This may allow us to take original MIDIs and ultimately put the music into Chrono Trigger, but research and demonstrations are needed. If you would like to try, consult Vehek's tutorial here (http://slickproductions.org/forum/index.php?topic=612.0).
  • Understand CT battle debug features - At this thread (http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php/topic,5110.0.html), JLUkas posted debug flags for Chrono Trigger's battle system. Help decipher the unknowns.
  • Explore Chrono Cross - FaustWolf is spearheading a huge exploration into Chrono Cross's file structure. You can help by tracking down what's kept where, decoding model formats, how room graphics are handled, etc. it's really wide open! Check in at this thread (http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php/topic,4770.0.html) to get started.
  • (For ZeaLitY) - Create a section for fan sprites so that people aren't spriting ten different versions of Schala.

Hey all,

Talking about the failed Chrono Cross: Darkness Beyond Time and Angellus Errare: Heroes Unsung projects got me reminiscent. I am pretty sure the boards for those projects were flat out purged and deleted after the 2009 Cease and Desist, but I thought I'd ask...

Do they still exist somewhere in Kajar Labs are just hidden? Or were they really, truly deleted?

Not sure if a mod or admin can confirm. I've never been a mod with full forum access, so I have no idea.

Seeing as there's personal information in some of those (passwords to old accounts, etc.), I'm not sure I should unlock them just yet. At least not till I can figure out how to lock/unlock individual threads. I'll give you access to them though, as you were part of that group.

Really, at this point, you should probably be a moderator anyway

I am not really used to forums but anyway let's give it a try.

I am currently working on a Chrono Trigger Card Game, but a really unique type of card game combining almost every type of Card game, AND using each and every character, item, monster, boss, quest, etc present in the game.
It will combine TCG classical game mode, but will also have aspects of deck building games and RPG games that goes through the entire CT story including DS additions, and with your permission, of CE.
I can explain the whole plot and rules if you want me too just contact us.
I am French Canadian so I can do translation work for you if you help us.
We would also like to use content from CE such as character pictures as Alternate editions and such.

Please contact me if you are interested in any way in helping us. We assure you that the game we are creating is unique and will fascinate new casual gamers or old school fans of the game.

I attached one of the Ayla Cards we did. Not the final version yet, still working on card definitive design so we try a lot of different things.

I can't really help in any actual capacity, but keep me up to date here on the Chrono Compendium and I'll make sure we provide updates on our news / front page sections.

I'm also a r/chronotrigger mod and will gladly pin any posts there, to help with visibility.
