Well, they are good for E3 that i will get to see for the first time this year.. oh goodies!
ANYWAY, this pisses me off. Now it seems they are completely biased on FF7. I watched a review on Crisis Core and is all they did for the 5 minutes was point out the flaws to give it a 2/5 stars... just for the faults...
Stuff like this shows when you have a dumb writer or producer... They honestly need to get better producers.
Maybe the IGN guys should do it, they know how to review

Don't go trashing all of G4; x-Play sold out. Blame them for your misfortune.
Also, I have to side with them on the Crisis Core review. It was just filler dressed up with some new characters and CGI cutscenes. It's been done, and it's been done far better. Instead of looking at it like "Oh, it says Final fantasy VII. It HAS to be good", take care in noticing the actual falts it has as a game, not just an installment in your favorite series. And this is coming from an FFVII fanboy as well.
Think about when Brawl hit the shelves; everyone was so excited, as was I. But their ARE faults in the game, like the camera zooming out way too far and the fact that you have to play the entire single player mode to unlock all the characters.
I mean, seriously, after playing 10 hours of the SE, fuck Solid Snake, I should get Bill Friggin' Murray.

Yeah, I haven't played Crisis Core, so I can't give a review...but I don't see anything flawed w/their review of it...from what flaws they mention, it looks like it deserves a 2 outta 5...I've always liked Adam Sessler since back in the Extended Play days...and Morgan Webb likes Chrono Trigger! FTW!?!

Only thing I like on G4, is Ninja Warrior. I mean, it's supposed to be a damn game and electronics channel, and yet they have Cops on for like 60% of the time.

It's because programmers like to actually have programs to be able to run during those times when their main shows aren't on (go figure)...before they'd just cycle through old eppys, which is nice in it's own way I guess...but also completely lame in another...& who else is gonna syndicate Cops? :P

Ninja Warrior is neat, sure, and maybe X-Play is okay when Morgan Manjaw isn't being a fuckface. Other than that, I avoid that channel like the plague. Cops, Cheaters, and the other stuff (and the fact that it freely admits pandering by using sexy models as TV hosts) make it the ultimate white trash channel. Maybe white trash with a tinge of nerd zest.

Did you really need them to admit that? Besides Morgan Webb (holdover from Tech TV) & Blair Butler (easily G4's best cast addition), it's fairly obvious that they aren't actually into gaming or any of it...and their pretend/"acting" enthusiastic about it is most of the time just horrible.
The Breakfast Club episode of X-Play really made me see Attack of the Show!'s (G4's The Screen Savers) host Kevin Pereira (yar, he was on Tech TV too) in a new light & turned me on to AotS, which, even though Olivia Munn is clearly one of those model hosts who just reads the scripts like a robot, is a pretty decent show.

I just don't like the shows on the channel except ninja warrior. Back when it was tech TV I did, good ol' Screensavers, Extended play/X-play, TechLive, unscrewed with Martin Sargent. That channel had it all along with Anime Unleashed.
The only good addition by G4 was ninja warrior and cinematech, one of which was ruined and now not even on air I think.

One thing about G4 I dont like nowadays is how they're trying to make everything "Interactive". It's like it's not even television anymore... I can see how it might be a good thing but seriously, I don't need to break every 5 minutes to see what some fat middle aged guy in nebraska has to say about the new iron Man movie, catch my drift?
Another annoying thing, but I can't really blame G4 for starting it, is the little bar at the bottom of the screen that'll scroll various news topics. I'll try to watch the actual show, and Then I'll get sucked into it and miss some really damn important (or the other way around). I remember, I was watching AOTS and they were doing the Jack Thompson interview rerun, which caught my attention, and then I missed something on the scrollbar that was about MGS4. Pissed me off...

Whoa whoa ff7 fanboy I think not.... in other forums I have pointed out many faults on the ff7 boys.
Ugghh some of the dialogue and especially how AC was to dark of a world or other stuff. I have the game and meh I think that X-play is a bunch of sellouts... I mean the guys even reviewed Paper Mario and TTYD shitty.
Come on now you know that the writers are joking.

I agree I don't have G4 but the G4 on demand on my tv shows way to much interactivity... like a demo reel of GTA 4... The girl just ran around saying how pretty the graphics were... shut up cut to the game screen and show me some f*$$%%% missions damnit!

I agree that on some levels the camera zoom is annoying. However, you do not have to play through the single player mode to unlock characters (though it is one of the faster routes if you do not have a group to play with). Most of the unlockable characters have 2 or 3 different ways to unlock them (aside from SSE).

Yes, but in order to unlock the most wanted characters, Sonic and Snake, you have to play about 50 million vs matches. I NOT WANT.

Clearly someone doesn't want much replay out of their game, nor do they want to WORK for anything. If you've played any of the other Smash Brothers games playing through the Subspace Emissary (the one-player campaign) is almost TOO EASY to get all the extra characters.

Oh, what's this? Someone giving a one-sided insult? Boo, I can't get anything BUT replay out of it. Since the day I bought it, the game hasn't left my Wii once. What I was trying to point out is how it kept bragging about Snake and Sonic, and then you find there a couple of the last characters you unlock. Like a genious, on the way home from Best Buy I invited some friends over to play it, and I was about to duece my pants at the whimsical thought of my main being Solid Snake from day one, but nooooo. They left after a few hours, and then I played through the entire SE in ten hours, in which it didn't seem like I was playing smash brothers at all anymore. I agree that it's easy, but Nintendo could've at least given us ONE of the third party duo from the start, no?
And my entire brawl match count: 1,346 individual matches. Take THAT for replay.

So then your argument is about the fact that fighting games make you unlock characters...? That you mistakenly thought you wouldn't have to unlock characters...? Which of these things is the fault of the game again? >_>

While Sonic is one of the last characters you unlock, regardless of which method you use, you can get Snake fairly easily by just playing a few (I think it was 10 or 15) matches on shadow moses. If you make them 300% "handicap" matches you can be playing with him in under 10 minutes of your first play.
While I understand what you are saying, I personally did not mind the various ways to unlock characters. Even going through the subspace emissary I believe we unlocked every character hours before I unlocked everyone in SSBM (since some required hours of multiplayer and that was the only way to get them).
On another note, I just realised I had not contributed yet to the topic of this thread.
About G4, I do not really like it. I loved Tech TV (though I found out about it only a few months before it combined with G4), and right when they merged it was fine. However, once they replaced Tech TV shows (like Screensavers, future tech, et cetera) I stopped watching because they replaced all of the older very knowledgeable staff with young "hip" people to attract more of the younger crowd (which I guess is a bigger demographic). It just seems like all flash and no substance now (or much less substance anyway).
Every once in a while I will still catch X-Play. Didn't that show used to review games? It seems like it is all skits now. Unless they dedicate the show to a particular game, then it is like a 30 minute commercial. The old Extended play was great, because you only heard Adam narrate and they only showed games. I appreciated the witty remarks then, but it seems like they are trying too hard now.

I think a lot more of X-Play's reviews are online now, so if you don't like the skits & such in between, you can just go to their site and watch the reviews of the games you want to see reviews of there. How's THAT for interactivity? Huzzah!...? Or, I guess it's just alternative content, not interactivity...*shrugs*

Who's taking reviewers straight to heart anyways? I guess there are people who watch/read a review and completely base their opinions on whatever because of what that reviewer says? It's just to give you some modicum of insight you might not get from just screenshots or clips of gameplay really. People need to get over it and realize that it's just someone else's opinion (yes, though someone w/probably more gaming experience than you)...Who cares if you don't always agree w/them?

Many mainstream sites are sitting in the laps of big developers...or on their knees and over-hype games that need not be over-hyped. Oblivion and Bioshock being overused but good examples, both 7.0 to 8.0 on a scale of 10..not the 9.3+ scores given.
There is also a lack of balance between the good vs the bad in many reviews (at ign). Sometimes it seems like they don't even care or pay attention for some games (good or bad).
If they are to be professional journalists they need to be indpendent as best as possible and not feed the mass-producing crap game generating companies. They only seem to be helping with the dumbing down and numbing of the gaming industry. But, that is just my opinion.

I just didn't like the fact that Brawl ran around prancing about, bragging about how it has Sonic and Snake, and then I realize one of them is only unlocked by playing at least over 10 FUCKING hours in the Subspace Emmisary, or playing 500 vs matches.

That is true. I used to go on their forums and see tons of threads saying how they need to go back to the old format, but apparently no one is listening, which sucks. I wan't some new Portal and Judgement day episodes god dammit.
