Have you considered a spam forum? It doesn't have to be one full of forum games like "avatar above you" or something, it could just be a place to make forum posting tests and experiments, or for anyone to make stupid hilarious threads about nothing. At PureZC, a major resource site for Zelda Classic (Zelda 1 editor), we use a forum like this mostly for showing off bizarre, hilarious humor (which quite a few people here have, I know.) Said place still keeps rules of conduct against inappropriate content, flaming, etc. but rules regarding spam, double posts, etc. are all waived. Nobody gains any post count by posting in it either, so it's no fast pass to anything.

I have seen a spam zone in many forums, and yes it does give alaid back atmosphere and helps the moods of the members. One draw back I have noticed, members begain to neglect the rest of the site. I personaly think that it would not help the compendium.

Yeah, that's the issue. We don't have enough people as it is for regular gen disc, let alone the Chrono discussion or ROM hacking. The site's atmosphere is based on meritocracy (the epitome of which is the Guru rank) and the site's nature works with that to attract the hardcore fans, and I guess, only the hardcore fans.

That's another thing we've addressed. The forum is unavailable and invisible to nonusers.

I've always been against such a forum...I'd rather just have a chat or something...Wait, there used to be a chat...Why isn't there a chat? It'd save the forums from a stupid spam forum and it'd let us have a chat. >_>

I've got a channel on irc.initialized.org that would be perfect. It was supposed to be the Chrono Trigger channel of the server, but the only ones there are me and the bot. If you wanna check it out, go to initialized.org and look for #zeal

I don't think I can use those chats (library comp)...I can only use the crappiest of chats...like those MySpace chats (they're the same as on this site called userplane.com). *shrugs*

Or an applet to an IRC channel. That should take care of your library problems as long as they have Java.

I was actually gonna recommend a spam forum...I can see why not though.
