Title: CLOSED - Rate Cross Characters 43: Viper
Post by: ZeaLitY on November 14, 2007, 01:38:33 am
Evaluate Viper based on his character design, combat usefulness, and Tilt factor -- which can mean anything, from how much he strikes you as cool to how important he is to the plot.

Design: An old general, sorta reminds me of Radius a little.

Combat: Strong, great techs, I think he has a double tech, can't remember.

Tilt: He is involved through out the game, and makes a better ally than an enemy, plus he's the father of Riddel. That makes it an auto-A :P

Final Grade: A
seriously, Riddel is fuckin' hot

Character Design: He's quite elaborate in his clothes, isn't he?

Combat Usefulness: Eh, sword-using yellow. Not much to write home about.

Tilt: General Viper is interesting in the way he follows Lynx's orders but is still a good guy at heart. He simply tries to do what is right(or at least what he sees as right) even if sometimes he goes down the wrong path.

Still...not PC material. Definitely not.

Final Grade: C.

Design: He commands authority from the get-go. He's listed as 6'7" tall, so I can identify with him immediately.

Combat: He's got some cool animations. Not sure about actual power.

Tilt: He has a beautiful moment of development if taken to his own statue in Termina after the Porre invasion (a scene which most people probably missed...bastards). In the scope of RPG clichés, having this badass old guy breaks form and brings freshness to the table. He's no pushover dramatically, either...this guy is the genuine lord of El Nido. And he's demonstrating the vitality and passion of the Dragoons (vibrancy which Porre and the rest of the world lacks) by realizing his error and pledging to fix it. In this way, he hits his own special chord within the willful theme of Chrono. He's a unique and human character.

Character Design - Chrome-dome with an attitude. I guess it's KIND of interesting...but it seems rather basic to me...I think I like his original design just a bit more though...Not sure how I feel about Jyakotu as a name though...but "Viper" is kind of lame too now that I think about it...*shrugs*

Combat Usefulness - ANOTHER sword-wielder, but he's got an original weapon that looks like an anchor (*UGH*)...G-Force & AirForce are kinda meh Techs, but the cool thing about FlagBearer is that you get a Dragoon's Glory when you get it and thus, you can get an unlimited amount of Dragoon's Glory in one game. It's not, like, the best accessory or anything, but it's a nifty little glitch.

Tilt Factor - He's a general who has ties to the mainland and stuff or something...He has a history with Fargo and the other older original Dragoon Divas or w/e they were called. As for his actual character, we know little outside of him caring (?) about his daughter...I mean, I don't even think we ever even get any information on Riddel's mother the entire game...But w/e...Another character that feels like he would have been better staying an NPC...

Final Grade - C

Design: He looks damn impressive. He looks like someone who would be in charge and live in a big manor.

Combat: Didn't use him.

Tilt: He actually has a place in the story. That's definately a bonus.
