I was thinking about this while watching advent children, who would win? In my personal opinion, I think... uhhh... I think... Gah, it's to hard for me to decide.

Both characters are awesome i must say. ( Awesome as in...Awe inspiring, not Awesome as in "hehe, Sephiroth pwns he so awesome, teh n00b")
However, CT was the first RPG I played, I played it when I was 12, and honestly, at that age, your easily influenced, and this game got to me, and still does. The game was a incredible experience for me, and then I see Magus, some dark, villian like character, and then I later find out you can play as him. That, was just simply the best.
So for me, I guess it boils down to which character got to you/affected you most, and it would be Magus.
( Magus pwns anyway, so who cares about the rant :lol: )

Naw, Magus was just too busy to be in CC, since he was off kickin ass in Radical Dreamers. Eh? And using that little bit of RD that appears in CC, technically he IS in CC! Or something...

I dunno, Magus seems to have more depth than Sephiroth. Sephiroth just seems like a generic 'mad villain' character. Sure he had a cool reason to be a mad villain, but it's not as psychologically compelling as say... Silent Hill 4's pseudo-antagonist Walter Sullivan. I think Walter's story was enough to make me actually feel for the character. Sephiroth just did stuff that made you hate him.
Magus makes you feel for him a little too-- he was rejected by his mother, he was the 'outcast' in Zeal who was unable to use magic, and his only loved one, the girl who cared for him when no one else would, Schala, was tossed out into god-knows-where time/space. He spends his life searching for her, and y'never really know if he's gonna find her in his life time.

Yeah, one of the most poignant lines about Sephiroth comes from AC's opening:
When he found out about the terrible experiments that made him, he began to hate Shinra. And then, over time, he began to hate everything.

Seeing him walk into the flames with that narrative was powerful, and gave him much-needed characterization. His one-dimensional villainy became an incredible concentration of angry, hateful willpower. And then, he exuded such grace, charm, mysteriousness, and profoundness before the final battle...
It would seem so easy for some little kid to say "AHHAA WOW HE HATES EVERYTHING..>SO FRICKIN COOL", bleah. But if you can grasp that aspect of his character on the level the developers intended, it transcends that "SEPHIROTHLOL" feeling. Especially if you've experienced those sentiments...

I've heard this before, and although I'm not entirely sure I agree with it, my feelings about stuff has never stopped me from posting such...But narration in movies is just lazy cinematics. 8)

Me too. Sephy is cool and all but magus is much more deep and has a great role in CT thus making magus COOLER.

Let's assume this is max power Magus. That is, the version of him in the Ocean Palace right before he gets owned.
Vs. Nibelheim Sephiroth - Magus wins. In this form, Sephiroth is just another mortal, albeit one with great strength from Jenova cells. Yes, he torched the town. But he had a mastered fire materia to do it with, it wasn't all his power. Whereas Magus could have atomized the place with dark matter. Just too great a power disparity.
Vs. FFVII Main Story Sephiroth - Once again, a huge power difference. But in this case, Sephy does the victory dance. Why? Jenova, by itself, is a Lavos-level opponent. It survived the Northern Crater impact. It messed with the lifestream and people's minds. It massacred most of the Cetra race, which could draw upon the planet's power to an extreme level. And Sephiroth made it his slave. Yeah, our favorite warlock is screwed.
Vs. AC Sephiroth - ...umm, I haven't seen AC. This shames me as a devoted. Can someone else take this one?

Sephiroth. Nomura states in the character interviews that Cloud was working like hell while Sephy barely exerted himself the entire time. Sephiroth should obviously win, but because Cloud has some vague realization of intangibly caring for someone (he's a shadow of his FF7 great characterization), he does Omnislash and wins. Other than that, it's a lopsided fight. Sephiroth emerges, speaks wonderfully profound words, creates a maelstrom from corrupted lifestream, and proceeds to rule!

As much as I enjoy these Somebody vs. Somebody Else threads, they always go waaaay off topic, and lose their point after page 1 and a half.
I don't want to rain on people's fun parades, but I'm just sick of these stupid topics being listed in my new replies of my posts.
It isn't just Korro and Azala(I l<3 you guys!), I just hate the Somebody vs. Somebody Else topics in general.
