Title: Why Are there Dino's in 1000AD?
Post by: XcyrusX on November 30, 2006, 05:20:28 am
Hey again. i was wondering why there is a Dino in 1000 AD im reffering to the Green Ambler in Leene Square so yeah i though that the dino's went extinct a few years after the fall of lavos. And that is supported by two things there is no evidence of dino's in 12000 BC or 600AD(except the boss in that cave with the pearl) But yeah so what do you think can explain a dino in a race in 1000 AD. ^_^

There are 2 possible answers:

1/ It's a joke, his existence is nonsensical but is not meant to be taken seriously.
Or...
2/ He's just a normal guy wearing a Reptite costume.

Maybe he came from Giant's Claw? It could be possible that some were able to get out and survive.

I am pretty sure Chrono'99 is right about his second answer.

The Chrono Trigger special ending where everybody but the Green Ambler is a Reptite is the only indication we have either way--and it implies that Chrono 99's first possibility is the correct one. Then again, maybe the original Japanese contains something we don't know.

Or in the Reptite Ending, he could be a regular Reptite in a human suit?

I would assume he's some kind of reptite. Though just thrown in and not really relevant. Probably hid in with the mystics.

I'm gonna have to go with the costume theory, despite the fact the Compendium says he's an actual Reptite.  I mean, he's the only Reptite seen past 65M BC, so...

I would not be too willing to take a special ending at face value for any real reason, as those endings were for humorous purposes mostly. The only special ending in the entire series that might have any relevance is the ending where Starky's race is deciding the Chrono planet's fate, but even that is debatable.

No, I'd go with a costume. I think at most it's meant as foreshadowing 65,000,000 B.C., nothing more.

Even if he is a Reptite we have no proof whatsoever that all the reptites dies. In fact, they could have evolved into Mystics, as we know that the Mystics do not have a single leader or a unified kingdom (much like Reptites if a few survived the big freeze) until Ozzie and Magus came along.

But, yeah... he's probably just a man in a suit. It is a carnival after all.
