Simple question, tough descision! All them has potentials to become a great fanfics.  But what I really looking forward to is Chrono Crisis.

The only ones I've really seen much of anything from is Crisis and Echoes...I'll give the edge to Crisis though...Was Echoes the one on RPGMaker *whatever-the-fuck-edition*? Well, either way, I still just hope that ANY of these bastards gets finished, that in itself would be quite the accomplishment for the Chrono community at large...

Crimson Echoes will be absolutely fantastic and all... but I had to say Chrono Crisis. All them screenshots have gotten me wantin' it.  :D

Chrono Crisis gets my vote. I've seen everything but the plot, and even though the plot is the most important part, everything else looks good.

Crimson Echoes. The only one simple enough to be finished before the rest. Plus, it's not super advanced. Crisis may be good but Echoes..... ya mama!

Have you ever wondered if someone from Square Enix is a Compendiumite and regularly checks the forums and posts his or her ideas? And he or she is getting ideas from the fan projects and is compiling tham all into one huge turn based RPG sequel to Chrono Trigger.

Chrono Crisis and Crimson Echoes are tied for me. I chose Crimson Echoes though because I love CT and the chars, so I'll probably love it, since it involves the same characters I already know and love.

Sorry for resurrecting the thread. >.>

If this novel project is just a scam by ZeaLitY, I'll kill him in his sleep. I love reading things like this. It gives me a better understanding of things. Like... if I could read FF8 as a book, I might be more likely to play it as a game.

... well, for Schala, here, I guess, zombie threads are as common as zombie Aurons. Damn you, Seymour! Quit making Auron a zombeh!

Um, the CTNP has been around for longer than the Compendium. I've never been an advocate because it treats itself like it's more than just the fanfiction that it is.

I'm rather interested in how Square will react to the Novel Project. The writing quality is excellent IMHO (I found the passage about fern leaf chili at the Imp's house touching for some bizarre reason -- reminded me of the detail Tolkien would give to a random Hobbit meal), making it of greater-than-negligible threat to Square's/Kato's/Horii's/whoever's intellectual property. I think the novel team is going to submit a proposal to Square Enix at some point.

Fan novels, when treated right, can be very beautiful works of art. My favorite video game-to-novel adaptation, by far, was a Mortal Kombat book published a very long time ago. That author took great liberties with the story, and it worked. Thing is, there was very little material to work with in the Mortal Kombat universe at that point in time, giving the author largely free reign over the scenario. The CT Novel Project seems to be pretty focused on re-creating canon, which makes me worry about the Project's ability to maintain a proper suspension of disbelief, which is key if the work is to appeal to audiences outside Chrono fandom. I mean, we've got talkng dinosaurs and giant space slugs here.

Will Compendium theory be featured in the CT Novel Project? How would everyone feel about that sort of thing? Seems to me incorporating some technical explanation for what the heck's going on could only enrich the work. And some amount of technical explanation is crucial to maintaining a suspension of disbelief.

I think it would be pretty badass if there was Compendium theory involved in the novel. A lot of our theories make the game less head-explody for me. That's always a good thing.

Anyone have a link? I'd love to take a look.

Normally I'd let CTNovelist do the honors, but it's impossible to tell when he'll drop by next.

http://www.chronotrigger.info/

Since I'm on one of my bizarre pro-feminist binges right now, I must say that I'm horribly miffed at their official animated icon. It may be considered "cute" by some fans, but it does nothing to help the project's legitimacy or the social advancement of videogame heroines.

EDIT: Teaflower! Your avatar! It...transforms. That's some identity crisis Magus is having.

Thank you! As soon as I stop being lazy and hunt down the URL for the Magus face, I'll throw him in there. Every now and then, he has to be himself. Although I would LOVE for there to be a Vincent face... that would make me scream in fangirl hapiness. (if you guess who/what all of them are, I'll give you a snickerdoo--... forget it, my pet Mewtwo ate them all... DAMMIT ACKERS!)

Um... I'll... bookmark this once I get back onto Firefox. My sis and I are/were doing something requiring IE. I HATE IE.

Heh, in all honesty there's quite a difference between spoilers and the need to focus on game development. If these guys had to keep releasing updates it would get in their way: we'd be asking them how to play through this part, we'd give useless input, we'd incorrectly assume things are already finalized, and we'd hamper them till they gave us the response we wanted, which ultimately takes away their time from the actual project. Like I said, we're curious by nature, so I can understand why we'd all want to see updates and hear commentary and such, but I'd much rather just see these guys spend their time the way they want.

That's my opinion, you're welcome to have your own.

Out of that crop, CE automatically wins because it's coming out in a couple months, so polling expectations would be sort of useless.

I poured 40 hours into CE this week. So did JP...and Chrono'99's been pouring hours into it also.
