These are the examples of the above genre....

1.)Mecha/Sci-fi: Mobile Suit Gundam, Evangelion, Xenosaga.

2.)Fantasy/Adventure: Slayers, One Piece, Inuyasha.

3.)Comedy/Ecchi: Onegai Twins, Ichigo 100%, School Rumble.

4.)Martial arts: Samurai X, Ranma 1/2, Street Fighter.

5.)Super powers: Dragon Ball Z, Yuyu Hakusho, Hunter X Hunter.

6.)Sports: Captain Tsubasa, Slam Dunk, Hajime no Ippo.

7.)Romance: Onegai Teacher, Fushigi Yuugi, Boys Be.

Sorry I didn't include other genre because there are too many or unpopular and if you like to include other genre please post it with the corresponding anime title & genre.

I love fantasy/adventure! That gives you a lot of really cool stuff with out the scientific shit.

But then again, some f/a does add in sci fi. Like the way Rave Master's getting. :x

I think Dragonball's plot went well, until DBZ...and they introduced aliens and power levels, and it got too complicated, therefore losing it's 'Dragonball-ness'.

I like D&D based animés (I voted "fantasy/adventure"). Unfortunately, I know only one series and its spin-offs that are D&D based: Record of Lodoss War. The OAV were done by Nobuteru Yuki.

If anyone here likes Tales of Symphonia or Tales of Phantasia, you'll be happy to hear that there will be an anime for each released in Japan next year.  :D

I like cowboy bebop (the drama-action-adventurous--semi-romance--little kid-strange-supports everything it should type of anime) because it satisfies in 26 episodes (1 movie) or less.

Technically, I like all anime genre but the one I like the most is Mecha/Sci-Fi. It has a realistic settings that it could happen in the near or distant future. One these anime that it could happen in the near future is Ghost in the shell & Appleseed.

I heard that Tales of Phantasia is related to Tales of Destiny? So, what is it like?

Well, it was the first Tales game, released for the SNES. I've only played the GBA remake, and it has quite a good plot. I'll post the links for the anime sites when I find them again...

Street Fighter II V - TV series only in Japan

Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie - fun and amazing

Street Fighter Alpha: The Animation - Akuma should've had more screen time

------------

However Cowboy Beebop is also in my top 5 all time best anime's. Action/adventure/badass = Spike Spiegel...

The martial arts genre for me!

Martial Arts because of one show. Naruto. Naruto owns, so I chose Martial Arts.

I know it's definitely a little late to be posting here, but I want to state my opinion. If I were to have voted on an anime genre, I'd definitely pick comedy. My favorite book is Yotsuba&!. The crazy things that spunky girl gets into makes me chuckle :)

What? No hentai option?

Oh, and Magus068, Elfen Lied is a pretty sick anime. It had everything I wanted in an anime when I was a kid in the first 15 min of the first episode! :D

Elfen Lied is indeed a disturbing anime but the good part of this anime is between episode 10-12 which kinda melodramatic...

What? No hentai option?

I love to add that but Lord J might slice my head off for being indecent.

Oh Ya!!  I totally forgot to mention tri-gun and inuyasha
Yeah, Bleach is one kickass anime especially when Ichigo uses his bankai!
btw, I agree with you about that, I love the pure action of bleach.
I love Trinity Blood!
Also, I love the deep story that is behind each of the characters in trinity blood!  I've kinda had a fallingout with one piece though, I sortta lost interest.  Hey, does anybody like Ruroni Kenshin, Yu-yu-hayushou, and does anybody remember Tenchi Muyo, ahh those were the days 8)

I despise Bleach.  I'm really getting kinda tired of all the samurai/ninja shows.  Way to common.  I'm getting into more of the random and more bloody/twisted shows lately.  AKA Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Elfen Lied, Burst Angel, Bubblegum Crisis 2030(I think its 2030).  All good shows.

SHAKUGAN SHANA!  THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA!  EUREKA SEVEN!  CHRONO CRUSADE! (ALTHOUGH NOW I FULLY REALIZE IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TRIGGER!)  GETBACKERS!  VAMPIRE HUNTER D!

Sorry, but I could go on and on...

It goes without saying that it all comes back to your own personal prefference and what you yourself like.  There are many good shows and they all have their own legions of devoted followers, but still......BLEACH RULES 8)
Title: Re: Best anime genre
Post by: justin3009 on April 02, 2007, 05:21:52 pm
I'm agreeing with Seyfer.  Those genre's are great imo.  Chrno Crusade was prolly the ONLY anime that has ever made me sad at the ending.  Shakugan No Shana made me anxious for the movie, Haruhi Suzumiya = Randomness 'r us and you basically HAVE to watch it twice to figure out the story.  Higurasho no Naku Koro Ni is just a really dark and depressing anime, Elfen Lied is a blood fest...Strange mixture of animes but still very great.

...Bleach fan's, lend me you support to help me make my point...(looks around to see everybody left through the back door)....Ok...I'll lokk into those others to see just what is so intising about them, till then, I'll still stick to my fav's.  Speaking on bleach though, did anyone watch adult swim last night!!  They replaced all the anime for the night with PERFECT HAIR FOREVER  Death to adult swim

Elfen Lied is a blood fest...

Yeah definately a blood fest but the last 3 episodes so sad it brought tears to my eyes.   This anime bagged lots of awards in 2004.

I love The Big O and Outlaw Star. Both seem to fulfill their stories pretty well within their 26-episode runnings, although Big O really needed a better explanation at the end... A third season would've hit the spot. As for Outlaw Star, it seemed like the plot and the characters' ambitions were resolved by the end.

wait... what? from all the sources i had Kara no Kyoukai was being made into a movie not a series, either way it will be win as long as they follow the chronological order of the chapters since the books are out of order due to nasu releasing most of it as side extras.

(EDIT: http://nrvnqsr.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1167190817&page=1 yep defiantly a movie)
now if only mirror moon would finish the fate patch >.<

Adult swim made a threat that if all the anime viewers that watch all the anime on saturdays didn't make the aqua teen hunger force colon movie fim intended for theaters a success, that they'd take of all the anime and replace it with perfect hair forever....Needless to say, I didn't cave into thier threat, but I did want to see the movie  Anywho, eureka seven is at the last episode airing this saturday, I am sadend to see yet another of my favorites go away, but they will put gits: sac 2nd gig back on in it's place :D

more amazing is how bad the animes are compared to the games. the animes still are great despite that.

Yeah... Tsukihime is Only 10% of Kagetsu Touya.

Yeah... Tsukihime is Only 10% of Kagetsu Touya.

Kagetsu tohya isn't that much bigger than tsukihime >_> if at all. if you meant to compare the game tsukihime with the anime tsukihime it would be more like 40-50%.
Title: Re: Best anime genre

Ya...I was hoping they'd make more of Tsukihime since they didn't even introduce half of the characters .__.

Tsukihime is only one of the then routes of Kagetsu Touya.  Techincally its only less than 10% of kagetsu touya since it doesn't cover the other routes & sidestories.  In fact, Tsukihime is only halfway to Akiha's true ending.

"Tsukihime is only one of the then routes of Kagetsu Touya." ...what?

Shingetsutan Tsukihime manages to cover most of arc's and ciel's routes leaving out satsuki most of chaos, len and a few other things, so roughly 30% of tsukihime overall and 40-60ish  percent of the near side of the moon routes.

you cant bring Kagetsu touya into the anime because the anime specifically covers the original tsukihime game not kagetsu tohya as well

I was actually kinda of depressed that there weren't going to be anymore episodes even though the show was great IMO.  It probably didn't hit to well in Japan or they just didn't feel like making anymore eps.  Oh well, I have Shakugan No Shana Movie, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2nd Season, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai, and Tales of Symphonia Anime to Look forward to.

oh and kara no kyoukai seems to be 7 movies now according to beasts lair...
they might make a remake of tsukihime someday, it has a big enough cult in japan T-M being one of the best visual novel groups around...

higurashi too, those need to get translated.

Big O isn't that bad in my opinon but you can only get Richard to smash up the bad guy so many times before it gets old.  His run in with that bandaged up freak was pretty good though.
